  • So far so good
I've had this shower head for 3 days now, and while it's still early to give an exhaustive review, and I can comment on the following with authority: 1.) It's a darn well built, attractive product. The little filtering canisters are changed by removing several (metal) phillips screws from the head. They screw into metal. In fact, the screws themselves blend into the head, as they actually spray water from their centers! If you look closely at the picture you can see what I mean. Great engineering. 2.) The flow is very nice. Not sharp needles, more like a mellow waterfall, but with enough power to allow you to stand wherever you want in the shower. I didn't even TRY it with the black rubber water-limiting device. It pops out easily with a pair of tweezers. 3.) There are no leaks anywhere. 4.) There is very little plastic in this device. 5.) The water feels great, and while my winter dry skin is still dry, the water does feel more like softened-water than it did previous to installing this. 6.) Price. Very fair price, considering my last shower head was close to the price & disintegrated in just 2 years of use...AND it was about 99% plastic. About the only negative I can come up with is the &*$(#^ packaging. That ultra-frustrating plastic stuff. ... show more

  • Culligan RainDisc Showerhead with Filter is fab!!!
Culligan Model RDSH-C115 RainDisc Showerhead: LOVE! I can't get over how much this showerhead has also helped to properly distribute my often inadequate water pressure, as well as filter out the excessive amount of chlorine, rust & lime from my shower water! Remarkable bonus. I was a little worried that my low-pressure situation was going to make it impossible to use. But it has made it better! So very easy to install, and they even give you some plumbers thread tape in the kit. Is that nice or what? No more green hair, no more straining my neck to get under my old pitifully small showerhead, and a fabulous relaxing warm rain shower. (I almost forgot to add they look great, kinda wish they had a copper finish version, but I do love this chrome finish) Thank you Culligan! Affordable product & replacement filters, too. Will be buying again (also as gifts), and will be replacing my filters often. Highly recommend!!! ... show more

  • Removes chlorine from the shower
Two part review--(1) the shower head and (2) the activated carbon filter. The shower head is chrome plated plastic but it looks nice and feels reasonably substantial. However if you drop it on a tile floor I suspect it will break. Installation is easy. It has a flow restrictor to save water but I found that it restricted it so much that flow was totally inadequate. The flow restrictor can be removed (in ours it was an orange "o-ring" housed in a small plastic insert that pops apart) and with full flow it is really a nice shower but wasteful of water. While it is possible to reduce flow some with the hot/cold levers, I installed a shower head shut-off valve so that it is set for all users. Culligan should include alternate flow restrictors. To replace the carbon cartridge you have to remove about half dozen screws from the front of the shower head--easier if you remove the the entire shower head and do that on a table. My rating for the shower head is three stars (if they'd include alternate flow restrictors it would be five star). The carbon cartridge is great at removing chlorine from the water--the difference was immediately noticeable in removing the smell and the feel of skin and hair. A carbon cartridge DOES NOT soften the water as some reviewers have claimed, but getting rid of the chlorine will make your skin and hair feel better. And the design of the shower head makes it feel like soft rain falling. The life of the cartridge will depend on usage--removing the flow restrictor will shorten cartridge life. The amount of chlorine in the city water will also impact lifespan. Same with the number and length of daily showers. I'm estimating for two of us the cartridge will last 3-4 months. My rating for the cartridge is 5 stars. ... show more

  • BEST SHOWER EVER
We have well water.. with that funky sulfer smell and yellowing on the porcelain. This shower head is really doing the trick. There is virtually no sulfer smell now.. and I don't see the yellowing in the shower! Oh.. and did I mention it is the best shower i have ever had? Usually you find that these shower heads don't let much water through.. but this makes you feel like you are in a tropical warm downpour! It rinses the shampoo easily and quickly.. and keeps your whole body awash as you stand in the shower.. LOVE IT. As many other users have stated.. we removed the water saver plug from the get-go. We are on a well/septic.. so not as worried about the cost of water/sewer.. it only costs just a little more in the cost of elictricity to pump more water. Environmentally.. we are just putting more "water" in our drainfield.. which isn't a big deal.. it came out of the ground.. it's going back in the ground.. the amount of "soap" isn't changing whether we have the plug in or not.. We haven't tried taking showers back to back yet though.. so we may find out that the first shower is using the whole hot water heater.. if that is the case.. increasing the water temperature may help us so we can just use more cold to dilute.. and the heated water will last longer. The showerhead looks nice.. but it is plastic.. so I am hoping it is durable.. since I really love the way it makes my shower feel! ... show more

  • Delicious!
We have incredibly hard water in the town where I live and taking showers was a miserable experience. I was left with a film on my body and my hair stiff as a helmet. Then I bought the Culligan unit and my shower experiences have become-delicious! No more film! My hair feels cleaner and soft to touch. The unit was easy to install and definitely worth the effort. The only drawback is the pressure of the water gets reduced because it has to go through the filter. But I'm still quite happy that I installed it. ... show more
