I use these by the tank for our house to get out the fine sediment from our well and they do a pretty good job. We also have a filter out by the well to get out the bigger particles and Cullingan makes some pretty decent filters to get the job done.

I tried an off-brand, but they didn’t quite fit my filter system— it took a lot of tries to get the leaks to stop. Now that I’ve gone back to these original Culligans, changing filters is easy, quick, and DRY. We have tons of sand in our well water, but I find these filters are good for 3-4 months and I’ve noticed no more grit in spigot valves, and faucets. Even the coffee maker works better! ... show more

    • Keeping My Well Water Well
The filter for the Big Blue whole house filtration system drinkable and my water pressure at an acceptable level 3 months at a time (as the filter removes rust and other contaminants it begins to become filled with these impurities, reducing water pressure by choking the flow). They don't last more than 3 months but they are effective until they become clogged with impurities. I've been using them for years with good results.
