This set of pans is an incredible value, like I thought they might be bunk Chinese made knock-offs.....but these are the best cast iron pans I've ever used. They are a tad thinner than lodge, but also much smoother than lodge, and I found these to actually be bonuses. The thickness of these was much better for distribution of heat and making the pan responsive to temp changes on the range.....heavier can be a real drawback sometimes when heavy pans retain too much heat to cool while cooking for certain steps. And these earent light weight, just thinner than lodge or le cruset. The smoother surface though, was also a WONDERFUL difference and meant I had a truly non-stick can cook scrambled eggs no problem, with no annoying to clean residue pan, in just 2! uses/conditionings. You can actually was these pans with soap (no soaking of courses) because the polymer/ fatty acid layer takes so solidily to the surface. Just beautiful. Not a chore to clean these pans, and they take oil beautifully too, cling to a nice thin layer....which again I think is do to the smoother texture. The preconditioning from factory is much lighter than lodge as well, but another bonus because I find theirs tacky with a tendency to flake off. No such inferior mass production here. Hands down one of the best purchases I've ever made for my kitchen. I've already told my professional level chef mom about them, and she was like, "the only cast iron I've ever gotten to be a true substitute for non-stick is your grandmother's lodge pan" and we think it's because lodge just takes that long to build up or they used to be made different. In any case......these pans are just oodles better, and come with oven safe lids and handle covers. Don't sleep on this brand, they know what's up.

I'm loving this set! I now have every size of cast iron pan that I need, in order to cook pretty much anything I want. This set comes with 8, 10 and 12 inch pans PLUS 3 glass lids and 3 silicone handle covers. It's a fabulous deal, especially when compared to the prices of Lodge cast iron cookware. I got this entire set for around what 1 Lodge 12 inch pan with a lid costs. I'm impressed with the quality and durability. The performance is also spot on. They cook just as evenly as the 14 inch Lodge cast iron pan that my grandma gave me. They're well weighted and heavy duty pans. They come pre-seasoned, but I always like to season my cast iron again when I get them. Seasoning always sounded so difficult until my grandma gave me her secret. Rub the entire pan, including the handle, with flaxseed oil, then put in a 500 degree preheated oven for 1 hour. After an hour, turn the oven off and let it sit in the oven until cool. Simple as that! Everything I've made in these pans has turned out perfectly. We've made steaks, potatoes, bacon and eggs. I've even used a metal spatula without any of the seasoning coming off. I love the silicone handle covers. They fit on nice and tight, so I don't have to worry about them sliding off when I'm using the pan. The glass lids are extremely well made with tempered glass and have a stainless steel rim that reinforces the glass, so it's shatter-proof. They're also oven safe and have a silicone handle on the top. I HIGHLY recommend these pans and I'll definitely come back to this brand whenever I need another stainless steel pan. Believe me you won't be disappointed!!

I have now had this product for about a year-and-a-half. I use it multiple times a day. It is the right size for most uses, though when cooking foods like a curry for the whole family of 4 I have to go bigger. It is a solid cast iron skillet that will be perfect for the average person who enjoys cooking and prefers cast iron cooking (and knows how to keep cast iron seasoned). The silicone cover for the handle is pretty good. It generally protects your hand well when touching or holding the handle. It does, however, slip a little when lifting the pan, but not so much as to make it a problem with one exception. Here is the exception: I like that the handle cover leaves the slot open in which you can rest a small cooking spoon/fork/utensil. However, leaving that slot open means that if the cover slips a little while you are carrying the skillet, it can slip in such a way that you get burned by way of that hole. Also, after a little over a year of multiple daily use (keeping the handle on except when putting the skillet in the oven), the handle cover did start to burn/crack by where the handle meets the skillet. For me, this isn't a mark against the product as I am sure it is not advised to keep the handle on during use on a gas stove, and yet it held up well doing just that for a good amount of time. However, as far as I can tell, Cuisinel does not sell replacement handle covers! To me, that is a problem. This means I am now shopping for a replacement that may or may not properly fit the Cuisinel handle size and shape. It is frustrating that I can't buy a handle cover specific to this skillet, since clearly the company makes handle covers. If they made extra handle covers and sold replacements, I would probably give this skillet more stars, despite the issue of the handle slippage and possible burns from preserving the handle hole.

Fantastic product! Excellent quality, easy to cook, easy to clean, no chemicals needed to wash. Can't complain. My personal recommendation when cooking is to remove the silicone grip handle holder because will get very very hot too. I remove and insert it when needed to handle the pan, otherwise I never touch the handle. Be aware that the handle of the frying pan will get very hot, also the silicone grip. Remember when washing the pan don't let air dry otherwise will get rusted, after washed just put few minutes in burner until all water drops evaporate.
