  • Looks good on my kitchen counter
Size: 4-Slice
This toaster is well-made, attractive, and functional. The only thing is that I don't toast four pieces of bread at a time as much as I thought I would. LOL.

  • One awesome toaster
Size: 4-Slice
I have been toasting my bagels and they are evenly toasted to perfection. I love my new toaster. I can toast all kinds of bread and if it’s frozen I can thaw it in my toaster. It’s an awesome appliance to have.

This looks like what a toaster should look like. Simple. A lever, a knob, openings in the top. A casing. The lever stopped working after a year or so. It toasted OK, just bread and I am not too fussy about perfect coloration front and back since I will be eating it immediately, not serving it to the Queen or framing it. I like it dark so I am used to having to send it down a second time and pay attention. But I expected more than one year from this; I have probably not even toasted more than 50 slices. And I keep it cleaned. I am the only user and I am nice to my things. Moreover, the "stainless" is anything but. It is cheap and stains and smells of rust when I run a damp sponge over it. Even my Energy Star GE Microwave of recent vintage is made of the same cheap metal they are now calling "stainless." Blatant lie. I have purchased, in about one month, 3 different brands (KitchenAid, GE, and Oster) and all 3 have been returned for having a dead lever. Reading the various reviews, it would seem this is a minor game in the corporate life—produce these little tin boxes and if some stay sold—fine. Doesn't matter what the brand is, they seem to all have their working parts made in the same indifferent factory— in China. I live on the edge of the planet. Our local Lowes had toasters online so I went there today to try one out IN PERSON to be sure it worked. (Why not do that in the first place? I have painful arthritis and the appliances are a block from the entry.) Guess what. They don't actually STOCK them. Waste of shelf space, I suppose. The nearest really BIG Lowes or Home Depot or the like is 45-60 minutes away and I bet they don't bother with them either. Walmart is not on my list of trusted sources for Important Purchases. So it's back to the Amazon lottery. There is no other way since I refuse to travel that distance to buy a toaster—and not be sure of finding one in the first place. How do all those other folks get the good toasters they rate over 4 stars? ... show more

  • Well made.

This was a replacement for an older Cuisinart unit purchased 10 years ago we got a lot of mileage from. Definitely brand loyalty.

  • Great toaster for commercial bread
Size: 4-Slice
Does a wonderful job of making consistent, evenly-toasted slices of bread, thick or thin, all kinds. The settings are easy to figure out, and I like them better than the over-fancy electronic kind. Both sides toast the same way at the same settings. I knocked off one star because this is NOT a good toaster for those who, like me, are baking their own gluten-free bread. Sometimes while experimenting with new recipes you get a loaf that's crumbly - a common problem with gluten-free recipes. DO NOT ever put any kind of bread in this toaster that is not firmly held together! The slide-out crumb tray is great for tiny bits of crumb, but useless for chunks of bread. Those get stuck beneath the bread-holding platform, and it's time to cool down the machine, get out a knife and maybe some long-nosed needle-nose pliers, and try not to rip out the heating coils while you dig away. A 1/8-inch crumb is too large to fit out through the hole, even if you remove the tray! You have to let gravity help; turn the machine on it's side and tilt it up, then fish with knife and pliers until you can carefully slide out the chunks. To me, this is a design flaw; it would be a simple matter to widen the tray slot and deepen the tray, so that larger chunks of bread could fall through and be removed. While I do still love - and recommend! - the toaster, it's conditional on the use of firm, well-formed slices of bread. Because of my requirements, I am seriously disappointed with this design decision. It's an awfully petty way to save an inch of height, whether the choice was driven by aesthetics or economics. ... show more

  • Bagel mode never worked
Size: 2-Slice
Hi, I've had this toaster for 7 years. Bagel mode broke within the first month. As far as I can tell the outer coils get just as hot as the inner ones even though the bagel button is pressed. Otherwise it's been a faithful toaster for the most part. There were times that it kind of ignored the setting, and would pop the toast out early when I had it on a high setting, but that resolved itself. Pretty disappointing though, considering how simple of an appliance it is. You have one job, toaster. My bad for not using the warranty though. ... show more
