  • I LOVE This Thing!
Color: JR1 Aqua
Because of health issues, and, let's face it, just plain laziness, I have not exercised much at all in several years. Hip and back problems have not allowed me to do any kind of exercise that involves being on my feet for very long. After a stern warning from my doctor this fall about my excessive weight, I decided to check out non-weight bearing exercises. Then I saw the Cubii commercial on tv. This looked like something I could do - just sit (I'm good at that) and pedal. This machine is a bit pricey and I was afraid like the treadmill and exercise bike that I had owned in the past, that I might not get my money's worth out of it. But I was wrong. This was very easy to assemble. Took only a few minutes. I placed it under my desk at my home office where I work several hours a day. I used a kitchen rug under it more to protect the vinyl floor than to keep the Cubii from moving. This thing is heavy and isn't going anywhere. I like the 'pads' that are included that go under the wheels of office chairs which keeps the chair from rolling around while pedaling. Once I got the positioning of the chair right, I was off and running - or pedaling as the case may be. I was amazed at how very quiet this is. I started on level 1, did that for two weeks, then moved to level 2 for two weeks, and so on. Whenever I felt the tension was starting to get easy I moved up a level. I'm now at level 5. I really feel a difference in the strength and firmness of my muscles in my legs, butt and hips. And if I was sitting up straight (I'm a sloucher) I'd probably feel it in my abs too. And the best thing for me, I have absolutely no back or hip pain from using the Cubii. I find using it not only effortless but mindless which means I'm pedaling without even thinking about it. So on a busy computer day I might get as many as 6,000 steps in (about an hour total). For those that have reviewed this and said it's not really exercise, I disagree. This may not be aerobic exercise (unless you're pedaling really fast) but it's not meant to be. It's meant for people like me who need to ease back into exercise and strengthen muscles we haven't used in a long time so we can get up and do other things. And I definitely know it's working my muscles and burning some calories. Since I started using my Cubii about two and a half months ago, I've lost 15 lbs. Disclaimer... I've also started eating better at the same time which also helped some. When I don't have to concentrate on my work, I have some 1 lb hand weights that I use while pedaling to get some upper body movement and exercise. And at some point, I'm going to try some of the online videos for Cubii exercises that are more aerobic. Overall, I LOVE my Cubii. I have used it every single day since I set it up and I know I will continue to use it every day because its so easy and it makes me feel good about life again. ... show more

  • Great exercise
Color: JR1 Aqua
I purchased this back in 2019, and I am still using it almost every day. I am on level 7, and I go for an hour a day. It is my time to read, read the news, etc. I couldn't fit it under my desk, because of my woofer and some things I store there, but it is to the side of my chair. I also have a tibia bar that I purchased on Amazon. This Cubii is so well made, so sturdy. I am in my 70's, and I can lift this and carry it, but it's pretty heavy, so I just keep it there. I can feel the stretch and strenghtening in my ankles, knees, and hips. It is quiet, so it never bothers anyone. My grandsons have messed with it, but they haven't been able to break it. I highly recommend this Cubii sit-down elliptical. Don't settle for a cheaper, junkier unit. Get the Cubii. ... show more

  • Noisier than "whisper quiet"
Color: JR1 Aqua
Update: A year later, I use it nearly every day for maybe 6 hours Mo to Fr. on the highest setting (8). I didn’t change anything else (I.e., diet), and neither did my weight. It’s a fairly light activity and not enough to make a difference, but not what I was hoping for. ——original review——- A recent special brought the price below $200 for a short moment (thanks to Woot) but I missed that and ended up buying an open box item instead. That really has nothing to do with the cubii other than that some of the issue may be related to that. Assembly is easy as the only tool needed is the included philips screwdriver. Of course, the total of four screws isn't exactly much of an assembly effort to tighten the pedals to the arms. That's pretty much it and it's ready to go. Btw., there are two coasters included that are tucked away in the foam and you may miss. They are for "parking" the wheel of an office chair with rollers, although the number two is curious as most chairs have five wheels and a single one may reduce the tendency to roll, but also makes it unstable. So, sitting down and enjoying the "whisper quiet" operation. Of course, that's marketing lingo and I wasn't really expecting it to be noiseless, but it turned out to be surprisingly louder than expected. And that's a kind of growling/rolling noise coming from the break mechanism, I assume. it's the exact same noise going forward or back. It's not a deal break, but not as quiet as I made myself belief. Considering the price tag, the cubii is on the upper end even in the Jr edition. $250 buys you an elliptical trainer with a basic counter for steps and calories. Frankly, it's under my desk and really hard to see the display, so it more that I know it's there, but not frequently used. The Pro version gives you smartphone connectivity, and that's technically worth the additional $100, but the resulting $350 were too much for my taste since we're already on a fairly high price level. Anyway, take a look at the advertisement picture and you'll notice that all models are very happy. Now, this isn't a torture machine, but don't expect such outburst happiness in real use. I hope I'll be that happy when the scale is nicer to me in a month or two. For now it's more like, I paid $200 and I better be happy using it. The built-in handle is good for mobility, but the weight is a deterrent to keep moving it around. However, that's just the nature of the beast since the weight helps it to stay planted. On office carpet it does so reasonably well, but once or twice a day needs to be reigned in as it's migrating a bit. As for the described coasters, I opted for not using them as the chair teeters when two wheels are raised. However, it turns out that an anti-fatique mat works just fine to keep the chain in place. It is a bit cumbersome to get in and out, but beyond that it's fine. If you're on hardwood or similar surfaces, you may consider locking the wheels up or use a different chair. ... show more
