Because of health issues, and, let's face it, just plain laziness, I have not exercised much at all in several years. Hip and back problems have not allowed me to do any kind of exercise that involves being on my feet for very long. After a stern warning from my doctor this fall about my excessive weight, I decided to check out non-weight bearing exercises. Then I saw the Cubii commercial on tv. This looked like something I could do - just sit (I'm good at that) and pedal. This machine is a bit pricey and I was afraid like the treadmill and exercise bike that I had owned in the past, that I might not get my money's worth out of it. But I was wrong. This was very easy to assemble. Took only a few minutes. I placed it under my desk at my home office where I work several hours a day. I used a kitchen rug under it more to protect the vinyl floor than to keep the Cubii from moving. This thing is heavy and isn't going anywhere. I like the 'pads' that are included that go under the wheels of office chairs which keeps the chair from rolling around while pedaling. Once I got the positioning of the chair right, I was off and running - or pedaling as the case may be. I was amazed at how very quiet this is. I started on level 1, did that for two weeks, then moved to level 2 for two weeks, and so on. Whenever I felt the tension was starting to get easy I moved up a level. I'm now at level 5. I really feel a difference in the strength and firmness of my muscles in my legs, butt and hips. And if I was sitting up straight (I'm a sloucher) I'd probably feel it in my abs too. And the best thing for me, I have absolutely no back or hip pain from using the Cubii. I find using it not only effortless but mindless which means I'm pedaling without even thinking about it. So on a busy computer day I might get as many as 6,000 steps in (about an hour total). For those that have reviewed this and said it's not really exercise, I disagree. This may not be aerobic exercise (unless you're pedaling really fast) but it's not meant to be. It's meant for people like me who need to ease back into exercise and strengthen muscles we haven't used in a long time so we can get up and do other things. And I definitely know it's working my muscles and burning some calories. Since I started using my Cubii about two and a half months ago, I've lost 15 lbs. Disclaimer... I've also started eating better at the same time which also helped some. When I don't have to concentrate on my work, I have some 1 lb hand weights that I use while pedaling to get some upper body movement and exercise. And at some point, I'm going to try some of the online videos for Cubii exercises that are more aerobic. Overall, I LOVE my Cubii. I have used it every single day since I set it up and I know I will continue to use it every day because its so easy and it makes me feel good about life again. ... show more

    • I want to give it a 5, but the noise ...

The media could not be loaded. Let me be very honest. I like this machine a lot. I had an underdesk elliptical before, but that one needs so much clearance that I think only people shorter than 5' can use it under their desk. The Cubii, however, works perfectly even with my keyboard drawer. The motion is smooth, and the assembly is easy. The unit is also fairly stable. It does move a bit, but I have hard wood floor, and I do expect this. However, after just 2 days of usage, it began to produce an annoying "swoosh" noise when I hit the pedal at low speed. And that's exactly the problem. While I do use it at higher speed one or twice a day, most of the time, I only hit it at low speed while I work as normal. The noise is driving me CRAZY. I am now turning on my TV to try covering it. I am realistic. I expect that kind of noise would come up down the road, but TWO DAYS? Come on, Cubii. UPDATE: The noise is now gone -- I don't know why, but I can no longer hear it even when I hit the pedal at very low speed. So, I change my rating to a 5-star. I can also report that it does help losing weight. I received mine on Sept 6th, and it is now only Oct, 4th. With at least 13k to 15k daily steps on the Cubii and a slight reduction of my daily food intake, I have lost roughly 6 lbs in about a month. UPDATE (2020/10/26): The machine remains silent, so I am guessing whatever the problem was, it might just be a teething issue (can I even use this to describe a machine)? Anyway, this elliptical continues to amaze me. For one, I am still using it. That is quite an accomplishment by itself. I've gotten so used to it now, sometimes I had to force myself not to step on it while working. It kind of becomes a second nature to me. As for the weight loss front, another 3 lbs are gone since Oct, 4th. I am now down a bit over 9 lbs in roughly 1.5 months. Who would think that it's possible by using this toy like underdesk elliptical. A bit of warning, though, I do quite a bit of workout on it daily. I would log about 10k steps of intensive run daily on it (I do it after dinner, usually takes about an hour), plus whatever I could do during the day while I am working (that goes anywhere from 5k to 10k). ... show more
