I have found it perfect for my shorter beard (maybe 3"). As soon as I first brushed it I knew it was way better than the boars hair brush I'd been using. I got this to help distribute oil in my 18 year old cat’s fur. It has done a wonderful job. If you use it on an old cat (which you probably won’t lol), be sure to be extremely gentle because the bristles are a little rough and could hurt.
