Works great so far, you do need whatever you are scanning to be well lit but if you follow the little bar on were it tells you to hit the sweet spot you shouldn’t have a problem. Having a strong pc or laptop are key I think that most people over look and have problems so be aware of that. My only gripe about it is that I wish it came with a handle. But so far it has worked great for me, I use it to scale all my 3D prints I design to fit me perfectly and on parts I need to replicate in CAD so it’s definitely doing what I need it to do. Recalibrate it every few weeks so it’s up to par on everything and follow the instructions and you can’t fail.

This device can be pretty difficult to really get a feeling for, because of all the hoops a new user needs to jump through to try to get into it. It's not easy to use. It's pretty difficult to manage to get the cords to work correctly, and then trying to figure out how to plug it in effectively. I have one PC that I cant use it in at all, with my best video card, because the device has too high of a draw from the USB interface with my other devices. If you have a device or two plugged in, no biggie. If you use a powered USB hub, don't bother. You won't be using this because of poor power management by design. I have four laptops, a desktop and an AI PC and only the AI PC is able to use this with anything close to an acceptable framerate, despite all of them beating the settings by a high amount. It requires too many resources for them to be able to use effectively. The software is pretty awful and hard to use. There is a massive learning curve just for scanning, but scanning is just step one. As a hobbyist, you need a plan for software, because most cheaper CAD options will not work for this tool in any appreciable way well without a lot of skill for interacting with it. It's a great way to learn, but expect to pay a few hundred to a few thousand a year just to use this after you scan to do something with the scans. The poor scanning software that doesn't do a good job of tracking, or managing your scans, or of helping you to manage the scan while doing it. I do enjoy how well the scans come in, when you have those things accounted for. This is a pretty good device, but the software is lacking, and it's overpriced for that reason. There is no reason to pay this much for the hardware when the software is in such a terrible state for what you paid, and this is probably the cheapest scanner you should pay money for.

There's about a 1/3rd chance that starting a scan will fatally crash the display driver of my computer, requiring a hard reboot to recover. Support was useless, utterly incapable of providing a solution.
