I upgraded from a Creality Ender 3 that I had not touched in ages because I was so tired of manually leveling the bed and dealing with print issues. The Bambu A1 Combo is as close to plug and play as possible. Setup was easy and well laid out in the Quick Start Guide. I was printing within about 30 minutes of unboxing. The one issue I had was the wireless network. It did not play nicely with my dual band 2.4/5 GHz router and I ended up buying an inexpensive router to make a dedicated 2.4 GHz only printer network. Wifi is not required for printing, technically, since you can move files via SD card but it does make things easier and lets you use the phone app to send prints remotely. It also allows firmware updates on the machine. I did something pretty silly within the first weekend that required a replacement part (filament hub sensor). The good news is OEM replacement parts are easy to find, inexpensive and the online repair documentation is really good. I feel a lot more comfortable working on this than I ever did with the Ender 3. It feels like a consumer product rather than a tech project. Print quality is great. The PEI plate has excellent adhesion without any glue or spray. Just make sure to clean it with dish soap occasionally to remove fingerprints and oils or it will affect adhesion. I always run the calibration and bed leveling before prints which adds a few minutes but I would rather do that and get a clean result. The phone app is easy to use and has tons of free models you can send straight to the printer with print profiles already figured out. If you prefer not to use Bambu's proprietary software it is compatible with Orca Slicer and you can still send prints wirelessly from your PC. It plays a happy little tune at startup and when a print finishes. Multicolor prints do take longer since the machine has to retract the current color, load the new one, prime it and then resume printing. The AMS lite works well. You will need to print adapters for some filament brands to fit on the clips. It does take up a good bit of space next to the printer. There are models available to vertical mount it to save some space. I usually run longer prints overnight or while I am at work. Unlike the Ender 3 I can just start a long print and walk away. There is an onboard camera you can check via the app and you can stop the print remotely if something looks wrong. It just works. 3D printer technology has come a long way since my first printer. I'm impressed at how easy and plug and play Bambu was able to make this machine.

I would say if your complaint is the quality of the touchscreen your priorities are a little off. I did my research and this was the best decision to get started. Every YouTuber I saw making things gave credit to Bambu and the quality of their machines. All the positive reviews said it printed excellent. The only complaints were honestly stupid. There are some things to know. This is a 3D printer with high precision moving parts. Over time things move, get loose, or get dirty. I have a few hundred hours on mine already and I have had some print failures. Clean your print bed. Glue sticks are your friends. Keep your grubby fingers off the print plate. Occasionally do a cold pull and clean your nozzle especially if you use cheap filament like I am. I've had to tighten the nozzle holder screws inside and out. I've tightened all the rails and mounts. The hot plate screws needed to be retightened. The original screws in the green holes had to be retightened. This thing runs and vibrates for hours at a time. Things get loose. Bambu has helped me with customer service on some things to tighten. After doing anything like this it would be an outstanding idea to do a full recalibration. It levels the bed for you, let it do it. 15 minutes leveling could save a 5 hour print. Get the AMS. No reason not too unless you just don't have the money. I would recommend getting the extra money. This thing has been useful, handy, saved money and fun. From figurines and toys, to tools that I can't find or afford. Or solutions for problems only this can solve. Do the math after looking in maker's world and even if that doesn't justify it it's still just a fun nice machine. Ohh yeah it works great! I honestly want another one!

This has been one of the worst purchases I have ever made. I bought the Bambu Lab A1 Combo as a birthday gift for my 11-year-old son, expecting a beginner-friendly 3D printer, but the experience has been incredibly disappointing. The printer constantly gets clogged, breaks filament, and displays errors. We have tried different filament brands, but the problems keep happening. Almost every print turns into a troubleshooting session, and we repeatedly have to disassemble parts of the machine just to get it working again. It is incredibly frustrating to spend this much money on a product that is advertised as easy to use and ready to print, only to spend more time fixing it than actually printing anything. What should have been a fun and exciting gift for my son has become a constant headache. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this printer. I would like to return it and get a full refund.

Should have done this a long time ago. What a great little 3D printer. I have a resin printer from years ago (sucks) and a more modern similar printer to this style. This Bambu kills the other printer in terms of looks, speed, ease of use, and print quality. I love browsing things to print, finding something, and then printing it out. All from my phone (there are computer applications as well). It has an onboard camera that I can watch in realtime or it can also do those cool time lapse videos as well. The print quality is awesome. I have made a ton of prints early on in my ownership and nothing has come out wonky. I did purchase the AMS system so I can have 4 different colors ready to go and that is a timesaver as well. You do NOT need the RF chipped spools, but they can help speed things up just a hair. I use PLA from multiple brands and they all work well. I had some spools that the center was too large for the AMS, so I just found the adapters in the Bambu app and boom! I can now use them all. Easy peasy. It can be a little noisy printing, but not terribly so. I had it on my dining table for a spell and barely noticed. It is now in my basement where I can't hear anything. Don't worry though, the app will alert you to when the printing is completed. As I was writing this, it also alerted me of a spool error while printing. That is nice as well. Two things I didn't like: The directions to put this together (maybe about 30 minutes if you take your time) are great. The directions on anything related to running the unit...non-existent. HOwever, it isn't too hard to figure out, although I do have some experience in 3D printing. The other issue? They give you only a few strands of filament to get started. Phooey on them! I was fortunate to have a bunch of filament on hand so I was able to start printing right away. Maybe pack in 4 "starter" spools to get you going (they did include a lighting kit for some odd reason). When (not if) you order this unit, my suggestion is to order a black, a gray, a red, and a blue spool. I also like white and a dark green. If you order this and no spools, you will be HIGHLY disappointed. Overall, this unit ROCKS and I have already become much better organized (loving the monitor shelf, with 3 or 4 more to print).

I've only had the printer for three weeks and it's been great. Setup takes much longer than they advertise but I was also being cautious and wanted to see how everything worked. The operations of this is pretty amazing as you are able to completely control the thing through the app on your phone. The first two weeks I had it all I did was browse community models in the app with my 7 year old and print out a few things that we thought were cool or random things that I found that were convenient for household things. By the third week I opened the full Bambu Studios to mess around with existing designs and it was fairly easy to figure out for scaling or adding small things like text to a plaque. I haven't done a design from scratch yet but plan on exploring that in the near future. Overall this thing is amazing and getting the AMS combo is well worth it so that you aren't wasting time changing out colors frequently or being stuck doing only single color models. I'm hoping it holds up over time and is easy to fix when issues arise.

Review from a first time user/buyer of anything 3D Printing related. Initially wanted to buy the A1mini because of the cheap price, relatively to this of course. But then cancelled the order because I realized that bigger objects will need to be printed anyway one day, so went with the A1 Combo. When you are at this price, you already thinking P1… but then again, it’s a bother 200$ step up. So you need to stop somewhere. If you don’t need ASA and more engineering related materials, A1 looks like a great choice. This was my thinking when I bought it. Now, after some experience with it, I would highly recommend going with a non moving bed regardless of what materials you will print. While most of the time, you’ll be ok with A1, sometimes it will knock you big project off the bed because it moves so fast, specially when using AMS with filament purge towers. What is great with Bambu that it does all the calibrations for you, automatically. You don’t need to fix and align stuff like the older printers. This leads to a better print quality of course. Assembly is very easy and takes 20 mins. You will print stuff you don’t need in the beginning, so get ready with filament. You don’t need Bambu filament and can use any other brand. If you are a privacy conscious customer and don’t want the big brother to watch your every step, this printer can run on a home network without any connection to the outside world. I do not use cloud or any AI feature, it’s not needed. This way, nobody can’t track you and change your printer features unless you want it!
