I love this saw. It has its place.. We have cut so many limbs with it. Shapened the chain once so far .... Really impressed. It feels wobbly with the extension but it just keeps lasting. I would buy again.

This pole saw is fantastic. I trimmed medium size branches, and it cut through them like butter. Easy to use and maintain. The chain is super sharp and the battery holds a good amount of charge. I have used it repeatedly for over two hours and it only dropped one bar. The charger is small and light, and the battery has indicator lights and a push button to check your charge. Also, the whole unit is very light when completely assembled. Comes with a tool for adjusting or removing chain and guide. And an oil bottle as you have to lube the chain yourself. It's easy. I would recommend having a larger capacity oiler as the bottle it comes with is very small. Tool and bottle stow right on the chain guard for ease of maintenance and aids in keeping track of them ... show more

Mine seems to be a newer version because the Tubes are made out of Carbon Fiber. With that said please DO NOT use this if you have Back or Shoulder issues. It can put an enormous stress on those muscles and joints when it is leaned over. It does the Tree trimming I needed and does it well, but OMG when the full 14ft Length pole is on this thing is Heavy. Luckily you can leave out one extension pole and that brings it down closer to 8ft. I don't like the Design for the Blade / Motor cover. I have small 10" electric chains saws and none of them get as clogged up with leaves and saw dust like this one. Also annoying is have to remove those two screws just to get the cover plate off to clean it. A simple thumb screw system would have been so much nicer. I found the Best way to tackle this tool is to always use it as close to Vertically as possible, which unfortunately does tend to get me nearer to the falling branches. Assembly was simple, just make sure you tighten the couplers all the way. I suspect those complaining about Play in the system did not tighten the couplers all the way. The whole thing feels somewhat durable, not like totally confident durable but good enough that I expect to get several years out of it. The two different length options gives it a certain degree of flexibility that makes it useful for small trees and large ones. Yes it does flex but I don't think they can get it any better without adding more weight. I would rather it this way with some Flex than an upgrade that had none but was 5 lbs heavier. ... show more

Let gravity do all the work. Never force anything. This has the goods. I recommend a 6amh battery along with the 4amh it comes with. Allows you to always have a battery charging.

I have now owned this saw for about six months. I already own two other pole saws (including a battery-powered Stihl), but bought this one because I own a lot of other Craftsman V20 tools and tend to keep a lot of charged batteries standing by. There are many things to like about this saw, and despite owning two others that both cost considerably more, this has become my go-to pole saw. I will jump to my favorite feature first: this saw blade stays tight and doesn't need constant adjustment. I had owned it for four months before ever having the chain sag. The blade seems to hold its sharpness very well. It is very light (compared to others) and easy to handle. I like that you can easily remove a section and shorten it, when you don't need as long a reach. I am impressed with the battery life. The two sizes of V20 batteries I use are both much lighter than the very massive batteries my Stihl saw uses, and even the smaller V20 battery allows me to do quite a bit of tree-trimming. I believe even my 5'-1" wife could use this pole saw. I am so pleased with this saw that I went ahead and ordered two spare chains, although the chain that came with it shows little sign of dulling, even after some extensive trimming on tough oak trees. I was a little concerned that this saw didn't have an oil reservoir that constantly oils the chain. However, I just drip some oil on it before I start to lube the chain, and that seems to be all it needs. I will heartily recommend this saw, and if you already have other V20 tools and batteries, this should be a no-brainer. ... show more
