I love this ice maker machine! The size is perfect for my kitchen, and it's light enough to take on travels. The machines makes Ice quite fast, in about 10 minutes you can already hear the ice plopping down. I use filtered water to make ice, and I'd say the ice from this machine is just as good as any ice you've had in the past, cold, clean, and refreshing. The included instructions is very clear about care and maintenance, which is greatly appreciated. There's a map indicating water hardness from different regions in North America, generally water to the north is harder than to the south. The instructions also state that it's recommended to run the clean cycle every 3 days, more frequent if your water is from a harder region. The machines feels very well made and is nice quality, consistent with other kitchen appliances in my home that are more mainstream. This is great because I gain the same great quality and features but at a more affordable price. Though this machine is great, there are some minor drawbacks that doesn't bother me but I understand could be dealbreakers for others. Firstly, though the ice machine touts "portable" the included handle feels flimsy and there's definitely some give when you lift it and carry it around. I don't have the most confidence in the handle, though I admit it's lightweight and gets the job done. Secondly, the machine is of course somewhat loud. Beyond the ice thuds, the machine's fans occasionally turns on and makes a whirring sound. Not nearly as loud as my rangehood, but it gets close. And even when there's still water in the tank, the ice can become "full". The raking design to move ice is an innovating and cool looking technology, but it often times block the path for new ice which makes the machine thinks the ice is full even when it's not "full-full". I find myself needing to go in there and move the ice that is "blocking" the way, of which then the machine registers it as clear and continues to make more ice. Lastly, I wish the cover was thicker. It's transparent which looks cool and convenient to see how much ice there is, but it would be better if the lid was insulated and was properly sealed around the border. I notice that if ice has sat around for a while, it somewhat melts and clumps up. I can still break it a part, but a minor inconvenience. Overall, a solid unit and I am really enjoying it in my kitchen. Though there are some drawbacks, it does a terrific job and anticipate it'll last a long time thanks to the clear instructions of care and what feels like quality parts, highly recommended.

Note: The ice maker I am reviewing is a portable 26lb. NOT the one currently listed. I have been really happy with this ice maker. It fits nicely on the counter without taking up too much space, and the handle makes it easy to move if needed. I use spring water straight from the spring, so one of the things I appreciate most is being able to make ice from water I actually want to drink. It is very easy to use. You just add water, press the button, and it gets going. Refilling is simple, and the viewing window makes it easy to keep an eye on what is happening. The ice starts forming pretty quickly, which is great when you want something cold without much waiting. The ice itself comes out tasting clean and crisp. That matters to me more than people might think, because some machines can leave ice with an off taste. This one has been doing a good job so far, and I like how compact and convenient it is for everyday use. I want to be really clear right up front because this matters… The product currently listed on this page is not the same item I received. What I got was a smaller, portable ice maker with a handle. Something you can actually carry to a party, bring poolside, or take to a friend’s house. It wasn’t this larger countertop nugget-ice machine with a dispenser. So I can’t fairly review this exact model since I haven’t used it. What I can say is that the unit I received from this brand worked really well. It was easy to move around, did exactly what I needed, and felt like a solid piece of equipment. It’s the kind of thing that fits into a lifestyle where you’re entertaining, traveling, or just don’t want something bulky taking over your kitchen. That gives me a good impression of the brand overall. But again, for accuracy and fairness, this review is based on a different model than what is currently shown, so just keep that in mind when making a decision. If the quality is consistent across their products, I would expect this to perform well, too. From my experience, the value for money was strong for the unit I received. Just make sure you’re ordering exactly what you’re expecting.

I thought this was a plug-it-in-and-you'll-always-have-ice kinda deal, but it isn't quite that. It requires kind of a lot of maintenance: remove the ice once it's made and use it or transfer it to the freezer, empty the water after every use, descale the machine twice a week with citric acid, and clean the machine one a week with detergent. The machine has a self cleaning feature, but you still have to mix the solutions and run the cleaning cycle with plain water 2-3 times after cleaning. It works fine; it's just more effort than I thought and I'm not sure that's worth it.
