All fittings used in this brew kettle is ½” NPT What is the difference between welded and weldless brew kettles Weldless brew kettles attaches all fittings without welds. They are normally screw on/clamped on. Welds have seams and can be a potential site for bacteria growth. Weldless fittings lets you remove fittings to be inspected, changed, and/or cleaned. Do these brew kettles have a triply bottom? No. As these brew kettles are primarily used for brewing beer, brewing beverages, and making sauce, the liquid inside will naturally distribute heat evenly, having a triply bottom is unnecessary. Can I attach other fittings in place of the ones provided? Yes, as long as they have a male ½” NPT to connect to our included couplers. You can also add additional accessories, such as a dip tube or quick disconnect barb. What gauge is the brew kettles? All our brew kettles are made from industry standard 19 gauge stainless steel. Good quality, great for brewing beer!

I bought this to brew ten gallon batches of beer and believe it is very good quality for the price. The temp gauge was accurate and the ball valves worked as they should and did not leak. Installing the hardware was easy when following the included instructions. They even provide plumbers tape. The pot is very durable... Mine came ever so slightly out of round (enough for me to notice and bother me but not smashed or damaged by any means) and it is very hard to try and bend it back. The steel used to make this item appears to be good quality. The handles are sturdy and welded on. Not as good of quality of welds as higher priced items but very good for this price point. My propane burner got soot all over it on the outside and the wort on the inside left a sticky mess when I was finished brewing. Both came off with no problem except the very bottom on the outside which was exposed to direct flame and had some remaining black char which I expected. Overall I'm very happy with this pot and will likely buy two more eventually to finish my Brew system. I definitely recommend it for anyone wanting to Brew ten gallon batches of homebrew beer.

could be better

I'm happy with this overall; pretty good value. However, the valve and thermometer connections are pretty badly designed and the instructions are pretty bad too. 1. This all takes a while to put together and test. I wish the pot side connections at were welded. 2. It says "the more ptfe tape the better". I would use exactly 3 wraps; any more than that and you can't fit the male connection in the pot hole, and if you add too much tape you can't compress the O ring as much. 3. o ring is used to seal between 3 surfaces: flat nut, round pot (bad), npt thread (very bad). 4. it's weird to use o-rings and npt threads in the same connection. 5. the valve sticks out too much. 6. the nut inside the pot is very thin; very hard to hold with a wrench because of the curved inside of the pot, and it's easy to twist the o-ring. Still worked though.

Very solid, excellent components, no leaks, no complaints

I wanted to step up from 2.5 gallon to 5 gallon batches so was looking for a new kettle and settled on this one because of the decent reviews and excellent price point. I must say, I just had my first brew day with this and I am very impressed. The construction is solid, the thermometer is accurate and incredibly helpful, and I used the valve to transfer the cooled wort into my fermenter (huge timesaver). I had read some reviews about leaking so used a LOT of teflon tape (10 times around each threaded part), then set it up in my basement full of water overnight to test the seals - it was great, there were no leaks then and none today while brewing. Highly recommended, I look forward to many more successful batches with this pot.

first impression , high priced but worked fine

heavy duty, well made , looks cool. bought a 40 quart for a 15 lb turkey , 30 might of been big enough , not using it till this weekend . Lucky i had a back up heat gage ,the one on the cooker only goes up to 220, you , need 375/400 for a turkey, I drilled a hole in the lid and put a gage in from the top . You have to turn the gas up wide open to get the oil up to temp because of the heavy gage tank, but when you get there you can just turn it down to an idle.

Excellent value. My pot arrived in about a week after ordering. Bulkheads were attached already (but needed to be tightened). Use LOTS of Teflon tape and leak check. It's a very fine line between over tightening and under tightening the orings.high temp silicon washers would be better if you want to make it easier but I got mine to seal. My Buddy had more of an issue finally getting his sealed. In have yet to brew with mine...but we've done several brews with his. Its a fantastic pot. I can seen it being easy with a step up bit and some lube to add more ports depending on your brewing style/equipment. We do all grain so scorching has not been an issue. If you're extract brewing then yes I could see how you would want to be careful with a thin bottom pot. But this is a perfect home brew pot for 5-10 gallon batches Edit. I've done 2 brews so far and this pot and it's been great. No scorching (all grain). The handles sat cool while the wort boils as its a very big pot.

extremely difficult to seal w/ cheap silicone washers

7-14-19 (2nd update:) pot has developed a series of pin hole leaks after just 3 uses since i bought 18 months ago!! i always clean and put up after each use; was shocked to pull it out and fill with water and find these leaks. Note i was finally successful at getting it to stop leaking around the valve and thermometer using wide flange teflon washers and was finally happy with my pot. i hope i’m able to get some help from concord,,, we’ll see? update: i rec'd my pot w/ a ding in the corner which was the original reason for 3 stars. other than that i was pleased w/ my pot as well as the valve that comes w/ it is very good quality. I read other reviews that complained about the inability to seal up the weldless fittings and how they've been unable to keep them from leaking. since i'm mechanically inclined and have done a lot of plumbing work in my day,,i dismissed their comments. Well,,,i've now been piddling w/ these fittings for more time than i'd care to admit and still have'nt been successful at stopping them from leaking. I took out 1/4" thick square plates and 3/4 bolts and tightened on each side to try and maybe create a flat area in the pot so the silicone washers can't squirt out like a tube of toothpaste as you tighten the nuts; since the pot is spring stainless steel,,this did'nt work. I lubricated the washers trying to tighten them before they squeeze out to no avail. It took me an hour or so to locate 3/4 " teflon (ptfe) washers at a reasonable price here on amazon,,which will hopefully solve the problem? I'm dumbfounded how others have been able to get this sytem from leaking and why Concord does'nt provide a better sealing method to go w/ such a high quality pot? I'm still waiting on these teflon gaskets now for a week and still havent been able to use this pot! If this does'nt work,,i'll be breaking out the torch and soldering these in place which i probably should have done to start w/,,,but that would have kinda defeated the purpose of spending a bit extra on one that can be taken loose and cleaning,,or so i thought! I will never remove these fitting for cleaning if i can get them sealed at all!
