I use this pan for everyday cooking from fried eggs to steak. It’s much better than using a cheap non stick pan that will chip away it’s coating overtime. This skillet won’t do that. As long as you take care of it, it’ll take care of you.

The pre-seasoning on this was not great, and the surface was rough. After doing about a half dozen seasoning cycles, it became better, though. I also wish I had bought a bigger pan. I though 8" would be large enough, but that's the diameter at the top, not at the base. Really wish I had gone for a larger size. ... show more

    • Works great. Those complaining about rust don't know how to use/season a cast iron.

I've been using this a month or 2 now and it works great. I washed the seasoning off of it best I could, then put it on a high flame for a long time. (I wouldn't trust a factory season) Then I coated it in avocado oil (use a high smoke point oil not olive) and baked it on there a couple times. This pan has worked great for me since. The included instructions even tell you to do what I did. Another good thing to do is cook a pack of bacon in it. I've used this over 20x since I got it, I use it almost daily and it sits on my stove. I love it. This is my first cast iron and I may eventually buy a better one.. but so far I don't see the need to. I got a 12" one (i think, maybe 14.. either way it's definitely exactly as big as I wanted it to be) Just never wash cast iron with lots of strong detergent and a steel wool-type sponge and then let it air dry. For sure not until you've used it a lot. I use pretty strong detergent, and those fairly abrasive net-cloth rags on amazon (love those too btw) and just dry it before I put it back on the stove. I oil it the next time I go to use it, and it hasn't gotten even a tiny spot of rust yet. TL;DR: I R RECKAMMEND MANY MANY MUCH! =P if you want to get into cast iron, or you just need an extra one, this one has worked just fine for me. - The only thing I say is don't trust the factory seasoning on ANY cast iron. ... show more

    • If you are willing to use a little elbow grease (= 3 stars), this is a decent cast iron frying pan.

The price was in my range, so I bought two of these 6-1/2" cast iron frying pans. I watched a movie recently about a 30+ year long court battle over how dangerous teflon is to humans, and when I found out that the story was based on fact, I threw out my non-stick cookware and bought these. I am on the Keto diet and cook only for myself, so the small size pans are perfect for me. This way I can cook two eggs sunny side up in one pan, and a quarter pound hamburger patty in the other at the same time. The inside bottom of the both pans was very bumpy, so it required some vigorous sanding to smooth it out. I had to build an extension shaft to mount a 4" 60 grit sanding flap disk to my angle grinder in order to reach the bottom of the small diameter pan. After sanding the pans, I then spent two days seasoning the pans with coconut oil. I will bet you didn't know that coconut oil is a good disinfectant, doesn't spoil, kills germs, and doesn't create carcinogenic pathogens when used at a high heat. Good stuff! ... show more
