When I received this, I was surprised at how heavy this was. Upon opening the box I saw why. This is really well made and should satisfy my uses when needed. I have a side by side and if bogged down I have no way to get it out of trouble. This should handle its 900 pounds with no trouble whatsoever. I was thinking of a winch, but no place to really attach it without going to a welder. This device is less expensive and can serve other uses as well.

I use the come along to stretch and reconnect a chain link fence at my house. The come along is heavy enough, but releasing the winch is tricky and I was nervous about getting a finger pinched. There is a spring that seems to be movable such that the release lever will pull the ratchet gear out of the teeth and release the cable when the release lever if pushed, but it didn't work for me. I ended up having to have my friend help and use a screw driver to release the cable. Also, there is not a lot of length in the cable, so by the time you tighten up the cable tension there's not a lot of pulling room left, so it took us multiple releases and repositioning, which is not ideal. Overall, solid construction, good pulling power but tricky cable release and short range.

My husband likes that this come-along is very VERY heavy duty and will withstand a lot of load. All the components of the come-along are well built. I took off one star because this is an unwieldy device and a small storage box would be very nice to have along with it to store on a shelf or in a vehicle more easily.

It took me a second to figure out how to release the cable from the come along; pretty simple really. The cable is only about 5 ft long, the lifting slings together add another 16 ft. I really like this. It isn't very heavy and is rated to 2-Ton! I like the colors too. Very cool.
