I never write reviews on things, but I am for this!! I decided to buy this a few weeks postpartum, after having such a sore back from nursing all the time. I put the Boppy on my registry bc it seemed more popular, but I would 100% recommend this over the Boppy! The Boppy offers pretty much no support. The baby rolls into you because the pillow sags and it’s pretty much useless. I suppose it’s better than nothing at all, but If you’re debating between the breast friend and the Boppy, stop! The Breast friend is a very firm foam, but still has a nice soft cover. You can see in my picture here, I’m standing up walking around while my baby is nursing. Also the Boppy is behind me, being used as a donut pillow for a very sore post partum bottom 🙃 When I’m sitting down nursing, I prop the head up with a pillow bc she has reflux, so I like to keep her head elevated. Pro tip: wrap the pillow in plastic wrap and then put the cover over it! That way you can remove the cover and wash it, and no milk will ever get in the foam itself. I bought this for my sister in law who is due in a couple weeks. While this is her third child, she's new to nursing and I wanted to make sure she had something supportive and adjustable. I used one of these when my younger two were babies. As a seasoned mother who nursed 2 kids until they were 2 1/2 years old I can tell you... Boppoies are not supportive enough. I used a boppy and regular pillows for my first child and could never get settled comfortably. The fact that it attaches to you makes it even more supportive, not to mention it's firmness. Babies are supposed to have firm support. It's not a hard pillow, it's a firm foam. This thing is not at all a hassle. You don't do much the first month after baby. You're both learning and resting and recovering from birth. Pop this sucker on backwards, pick up baby and easily adjust the pillow to the front with one hand. This is my 5th baby and with my previous 4 I always used a boppy and I originally purchased another boppy for this baby as well but the back pain and constant having to adjust the boppy from slipping got too annoying for me and I purchased my breastfriend. It supports my back and I love that it straps around my so no worries for it slipping, my baby seems more comfortable eating on it as well. I struggled finding a comfortable nursing position until I got this pillow. It was a game changer and brought relief to my back. I’ve been using it for 2 months and now that the baby is a little bigger, it is a little harder to use the pillow. Sometimes he slides too far to one side or the other or his head ends up lower than his feet. I love this product so much. I was using a Boppy pillow for the first 3 weeks of my baby’s life. It was a used Boppy so I’m not sure how old it was and it was flat and unhelpful/unsupportive in breastfeeding. I tried this product at a speech therapy appointment and immediately went home and bought it after one use. It makes breastfeeding positioning so much easier- it is incredibly supportive and gives your arms a break. I am now able to help my son latch more efficiently without having to worry about holding him up.
