I bought this system and it works fantastic. Hoses are great with included rubber sealing washers making it leak and drip proof. The pump is heavy duty and works great. Ease of Installation easy and took very little time. The power cord for the pump is so long it makes connecting a real treat. Perfect kit for flushing the instant hot water heater. And at a decent price! It’s our first on demand hot water heater. Directions were easy to follow. Since this was our first time doing it, one of us reread directions out loud whilst the other did the work, We had no issues of leaking and a bit of fun as well. Best thing besides doing this job well, we are able to store it with right near the in demand unit because everything fits in the 5 gallon bucket, so it’s always where we can find it. If I had to ding it, I wish it has a twist on top, as they’re easier to open as we age. The product itself is great! Much easier than flushing out the large conventional tanks every year.

A tankless water heater is great, but like HVAC equipment in your home, you need to maintain it properly to get the maximum service life and protect your investment. A typical plumber will charge you anywhere from $150 to $450 to descale your water heater (annually). But for what is probably less than one service charge, you can do it yourself, and still have all the gear to do it next year. You only need another bottle of descaling solution. IT's JUST NOT THAT HARD. Chromex provides everything you need, including the basic directions. The only trick to it is figuring out which valve is which. There are tons of do it yourself videos on line to help you out. Just be sure you find one for your brand of water heater, because other brands can differ. Chromex puts everything you need in a bucket which you need, and where you can store it for everything for next year. I just slide the whole bucket under the steps in the garage where it's out of the way. The pump included in the kit is easy to use, totally submersible, compact, and quiet, with plenty of power. In fact, when our swimming pool pump failed, I used the pump to drain the excess water out of the pool, and then, I used threw the pump in the pool with a hose attached to keep the water circulating so algae wouldn't form before the pool was repaired. In the process, I discovered the company actually answers their phone and helps you with any questions you have. Highly Recommended.

The unit worked as intended. My Navien tankless gas unit was installed 5 1/2 years ago, and I had another issue that required me to have a plumber replace some parts and he mentioned that I was supposed to flush the unit every 18 months. Chromex recommends 6 - 12 months. I purchased the unit with right angle fittings, which made sense for my setup. My bucket was orange as shown in the photo. Not a big deal, though I would have preferred the blue as shown in the product images. The lid was extremely hard to get off and no instructions. To get the lid off you need to remove the lower part of the lid, which isn't obvious and comes off in sections. Then there are slots in the lip of the lid, which make it look like you need to put a screw driver in and pry it off. That doesn't work either. You just need to put on some gloves and work the lid off section by section. There is a pump grate, which is not useful if you use the descaler solution which is mixed with one gallon of water. With the pump grate, one gallon is barely above the grate which isn't enough to run the pump. So, don't use the grate unless you plan on adding more water and possibly another bottle of descaler. There are no marks on the bucket for the 1 gallon fill line, so you have to measure out a gallon of water. I put marks on the outside of my bucket for next time. Aside from the hard to remove lid, useless grate, and lack of gallon marks I am still rating this item as a 5 because it worked well. No leaks, and seemed to have good pressure. Of course I've only used it one time, but the $135 cost was less than the plumber who quoted me $350. He's also the one that recommended to do it myself, so if it only works one time, which I doubt, I still saved money and the hassle of scheduling a plumber service call.

The kit does contain everything to flush your tankless water heater. The hoses are metal braided and color coded although one of the hoses had some loose wire braids which could have been painful if I hadn’t noticed them. I did not check the fitting on the pump and had to tighten the connector as it was leaking out of box, but an easy fix. I felt that ideally the mesh that sits in the bottom of the bucket for the pump to sit on would ideally have had a hole in it where the outflow hose from the hot water bypass could have been placed rather than it just flopping around in bucket. The other suggestion would be for level marks to be added on the inside of the bucket to make measuring water to chemical ratio easier. Overall the pump ran fine and was adequate for the task. As instructions are generic I did refer to a YouTube video for specifics on my water heater.

Everything needed to do the job is there and appears to be high quality. Only odd thing is they include a rack for the bottom of the bucket so the pump sits up a bit. The rack is too tall for the recommended 5 quarts of fluid. However, looking at videos, no one seems to use a rack so I guess it isn't needed. I consider it a free gift that has moved to my car wash bucket. Everything worked well and completed the process without issue.
