I recently purchased Chicken Nesting Herbs for my chicken coop. I added about a pound of the mixture to the nesting boxes. I'm not sure if it's working yet, but I'll keep you posted. I'll let you know if the hens start laying more eggs or if they are more inclined to nest in the boxes with the herbs. But i will say the chickens love the smell and bright colors, it really gets them excited about scratching around and pecking at the flowers and grasses in there. ... show more

We've seen a big difference in our hens happiness since adding nesting herbs. We try to grow a lot of the organic herbs during the summer for our hens, and with winter upon us we needed more herbs. We clean out our coop every week (we use the deep bedding method) and throw in herbs - The coop smells so good! Tried to take a few photos of the one pound of nesting herbs we received so you can see what you might get. Rose petals are listed as the first ingredient but it didn't seem there were more rose petals than other ingredients - our package had a lot of lemongrass stems and golden chrysanthemums with a bit of lavender - the scent is herbal and just what we wanted. There is also calendula and rosemary listed in the ingredients. There is not one herbal scent that overpowers everything - just a nice mix. The thing that could be better is these come in a non resealable bag - if you live in a humid climate, these herbs will mold really quickly if not well sealed and placed in a ventilated area that is dry. There is an expiration about two years from when we received the herbs. A one pound bag only lasts about 2 months in our hen house with 20 hens and we are in a dry climate. We buy chamomile, oregano, and lavender at our local store and I also use the leftover dried flowers when my hubby remembers to buy me roses because he loves me ;). What we have on hand will get added in with this mix. There is no indication that these Chicken Nesting Herbs are pesticide free, and I would have liked to have seen that on this product label. We do mix this in with pine shavings that are used in the coop and try to go organic in everything we provide - if non-organic is not an issue for you, these nesting herbs might work well. ... show more

Potpourri for chicken butts. Who knew this was needed. Our chickens aren't very stylish so this may be a waste on them.
