It's big enough for maybe three chickens or four 6 might be pushing it and as for the sturdiness not really great it feels like arts and crafts wood rather than anything heavy duty and you have to screw more nails in because it doesn't secure the top half as well the design is beautiful yet the wood is a bit chipped yet that's to be expected and as for the roof it tends to flake off a bit so that's the black little specks you'll find in the box it's not entirely safe so I would recommend building a chicken coop run that also protects the coop but overall it's fine for it's price just wouldn't say it's as good as a built by someone chicken coop

This was easy to set up by myself using just a power screwdriver - it took me about two hours. The hinges on the nesting box covers were very weak and I ended up replacing them with stronger hinges from my local hardware store but otherwise everything is in working condition! It's a great beginner coop and I have 5 hens who are comfy inside in the evenings. I wouldn't recommend this as the only square footage for that many chickens but with our enclosed run and the ability to free-roam the yard anytime we're home, this is great. Without a run, I would only recommend this for 2-3 birds as the "downstairs" is pretty small.

I bought and assembled this coop three months ago. Came in several boxes, hence the high shipping price. Instructions decent. Pay attention to boxes, sides and their directions, you will be fine. It's softwood so less robust than I would prefer to build myself. But I could do this alone in a long day versus my preferred 2x3 build that would take about 3 days and cost much more. At this stage, I feel I made the right decision. I appreciate that it has metal reinforcements on several risky joints. The pieces are well cut and fit correctly. I was also impressed with the roof, where the components and their matching screw holes were a perfect fit. We have three birds, it could easily accommodate 5 or 6. We also bought the electric door. I suggest putting it on as you are assembling, rather than after. Same for the heater. I installed a heater (the one that looks like a small LCD tv) by making a wooden brace and drilling through the back side. I'm a mid-large sized 65 year old guy and don't contort all that well into tight spaces. All the accessories fit nicely. The hardware is neatly packaged and marked so should be easy for an attentive beginner. Nothing beats a cordless drill. There's plenty of room for the girls to move around. Also plenty of room for a waterer with heater and a side mounted feeder. I ran the electric cords for the door, water heater, and internal heater along the back side with one hole in the front wall. The door's small solar panel is on the roof, and the control panel just above the doors for easy access. Think about placement, any necessary electricity, and follow the instructions. I am pleased.

This coop is exactly what we needed for our six Easter Egger Hens. We felt it was easy to put together and was a well organized kit. We did make some changes that gave it even more stability. We placed it on a frame made with hardware cloth to avoid predators digging under and the wood will extend the life of the coop. We added L braces to some places for reinforcement and added handles to some places.

I got this because I have been taking care of a pigeon with a bad wing. He just isn't able to fly anymore, so I'll be taking care of him, and I needed something for a permanent home. I'll start with the bad, and work my way to the good. This will be used indoors, but I don't see it lasting much more than a year if kept outdoors. The wood is fairly soft and has a very thin layer of paint. I'm sure it would warp and start splitting around the screws if it was subjected to regular moisture. It is also not predator proof. The latches could be opened by a determined raccoon, and, more distressingly, if anything over 10lbs were to get on top of the mesh "roof" over the playpen area, I could see the mesh giving and way and whatever got up there falling in. Some clips and heavier duty mesh added on after assembly could help a lot. And lastly for the cons, it is VERY fumey out of the box. I'd assemble at least 48 hours ahead of using to let it air. On the plus side, it's quite large for a pigeon sized animal. The mesh is sufficient for keeping out rats, mice, and other small rodents, as well as small dogs. Assembly was easy, I'm not good at building things, but had no problem putting it together. So, it's a decent, nice sized habitat for anything up to pigeon or rabbit sized, so long as it's used indoors.

I wouldn’t buy it again. It’s very flimsy and almost every piece came cracked, split or chipped. 2 pieces of the fence sections have holes. The top isn’t flat so it doesn’t rest flush on the coup which means when it rained the first day we put it together, water leaked inside instantly. The tray to make it, “easy to clean,” is very difficult to pull out. Overall bad buy. Update: the roof isn’t waterproof AT ALL.

So I read the reviews on this and wasn’t particularly confident of my purchase. It came in two separate boxes but that wasn’t made clear so I waited about another 3 to 4 days for the second package to arrive. It took me a whole day to put this together. So maybe 6 hours. But it was a lot of fun to see it come together. Like an adult lego project. I highly recommend a power drill as hand tightening screws took longer. However, use a low setting on the drill to be careful not to split the wood. I had no issues with this but did have a corner damaged and tried to glue it. Didn’t affect function and hard to notice cosmetically. I was impressed with the instructions, and how each step was thought out and holes were pre-drilled where they needed to be. The roofing and design has kept water out even in bad storms. The nesting boxes are easily accesible and the main area is easy to clean. While putting it together and moving it about after assembly, it definitely is a bit fragile. However this can be a plus when considering weight. It’s made of cedar so won’t quickly. I’ve had my hens in it, outdoors for about a month now and no predators have made their way in. The functionality, appeal of this design and the price compared to other hen houses. It’s easy to give this a five.

The sturdiness of this hutch is pretty good. I cannot attest to how it is in the weather as I just put it together yesterday, but it felt very sturdy when I was done putting it together. As well, my two children were playing in it (not the hutch itself) and it didn’t break or move. I can’t fully give it a 5 star review because in a few spots where the wire is attached to the wood frame, it was broken and detached. I bent the wires back as best I could, it wasn’t big spots. My plan is to use it for my quail when they’re a bit more ready to be outside and out of the brooder; so as a good comparison for those broken spots, the holes aren’t big enough for them to get through. Another reason for the 4 stars is because the instructions weren’t super clear for me. I like detailed instructions that make something kind of idiot proof, these were not like that at all. It took me a little while to figure out how it wanted the hinges to be attached for the roof. It wasn’t clear which side goes down for each piece so I had to figure that out on my own. Overall it took less than an hour to put together, difficulty was not that bad just wish the instructions were more clear, and the hutch and run itself are absolutely adorable. My quail are going to love it, I can’t wait to use it.
