  • Better than expected
Size: 75.7"L x 65.7"W x 59.1"H Color: Grey
I bought and assembled this coop three months ago. Came in several boxes, hence the high shipping price. Instructions decent. Pay attention to boxes, sides and their directions, you will be fine. It's softwood so less robust than I would prefer to build myself. But I could do this alone in a long day versus my preferred 2x3 build that would take about 3 days and cost much more. At this stage, I feel I made the right decision. I appreciate that it has metal reinforcements on several risky joints. The pieces are well cut and fit correctly. I was also impressed with the roof, where the components and their matching screw holes were a perfect fit. We have three birds, it could easily accommodate 5 or 6. We also bought the electric door. I suggest putting it on as you are assembling, rather than after. Same for the heater. I installed a heater (the one that looks like a small LCD tv) by making a wooden brace and drilling through the back side. I'm a mid-large sized 65 year old guy and don't contort all that well into tight spaces. All the accessories fit nicely. The hardware is neatly packaged and marked so should be easy for an attentive beginner. Nothing beats a cordless drill. There's plenty of room for the girls to move around. Also plenty of room for a waterer with heater and a side mounted feeder. I ran the electric cords for the door, water heater, and internal heater along the back side with one hole in the front wall. The door's small solar panel is on the roof, and the control panel just above the doors for easy access. Think about placement, any necessary electricity, and follow the instructions. I am pleased. ... show more

  • Chicken Coop review
Size: AIR69 Color: Grey
Easy to assemble, can be done by one person, Good design and it works and the size is just right for the enclosure. Not a particularly strongly built structure. The wood split just from putting the screws in so it won't last very long. But its adequate to the task while it does.

  • Great for a suburban back yard
Size: AIR66 Color: Grey
I was nervous about ordering this coop but was pleasantly surprised! The wood is thin and there are MANY pieces but the overall assembly took about 45 minutes with my husband and I. This is a wonderful coop for our small neighborhood yard. I do not think it would work if you have to worry about predators. The coop would not stop a large or crafty animal from getting to your chickens. With that being said, it has held up well through storms and keeps our space looking clean and well kept. The chickens LOVE it and are happy as can be! ... show more

  • Good deal
So I read the reviews on this and wasn’t particularly confident of my purchase. It came in two separate boxes but that wasn’t made clear so I waited about another 3 to 4 days for the second package to arrive. It took me a whole day to put this together. So maybe 6 hours. But it was a lot of fun to see it come together. Like an adult lego project. I highly recommend a power drill as hand tightening screws took longer. However, use a low setting on the drill to be careful not to split the wood. I had no issues with this but did have a corner damaged and tried to glue it. Didn’t affect function and hard to notice cosmetically. I was impressed with the instructions, and how each step was thought out and holes were pre-drilled where they needed to be. The roofing and design has kept water out even in bad storms. The nesting boxes are easily accesible and the main area is easy to clean. While putting it together and moving it about after assembly, it definitely is a bit fragile. However this can be a plus when considering weight. It’s made of cedar so won’t quickly. I’ve had my hens in it, outdoors for about a month now and no predators have made their way in. The functionality, appeal of this design and the price compared to other hen houses. It’s easy to give this a five. ... show more

  • Cleaning Cleaning
Size: AIR66 Color: Grey
We are first time chick owners. We thought this would be a great starter coop. It was easy to put together and seems quite sturdy and looks very nice. I really fell in love with it but the doors are very small you can barely reach in. I thought cleaning would be a breeze with the pull out tray. I was wrong. You can barely put any pine shavings in there and if you put just a little too much it gets stuck and you have to put your hand in there and unclog it. also, where the first ramp is going up, the wood is right by the wire. and the pine shavings get stuck between the wire and the wood, and you can’t get it out even with a sprayer it won’t move. then also in the corner. at the bottom of the ramp there’s a piece of wood that supports the ramp. A pine shavings gets stuck in there too, and you can’t dig them out. I also think the ramp would be easier to clean if it was just wood , the roof shingle material seems to be harder to clean. I ended up paying 358. With the shipping. I wish I would’ve gotten a bigger one for more money or tried to build one ourselves. ... show more

  • Cute but… Cute but…
I really like the design of this coop and it was fairly easy to assemble for 1 person. Unfortunately, that is about it. The quality of the prefab constructed panels is subpar. The wood isn’t very dense. Some areas that did not have pre-drilled holes I could easily make a hole by pushing the screw tip into it. I can easy push my thumbnail in it much like balsa wood. It says it is made from fir wood but pine would have been more suitable. Some panels connect with one wooden peg and one screw. Pieces that were “stapled” were not securely attached or fit properly. Because of this the coop easily wobbles with the lightest push. The UV panel is a very thin piece of plastic and I don’t anticipate it lasting subjected to Texas weather. The gray color is deceiving. Instead of being sufficiently painted to seal and protect from water, it appears to be stained. Some areas so thin that it’s almost raw wood. The doors will benefit with small handles in order to easily open them. I will need to add more screws and repaint with a suitable paint to seal it if I want this to last longer than a year. I’ll more than likely caulk all of the seams. Also considering adding some brackets or angle iron to make it more stable. My son purchased another brand with the same design from farm supply store. It was more expensive than this one but a lot more sturdy. I trusted the reviews and wanted to save some money. By time I invest more money to correct defects I will have spent as much as him. But you know what they say. Get what you pay for. ... show more

  • It's decent yet not perfect or safe enough without a helping hand
Size: AIR69 Color: Grey
It's big enough for maybe three chickens or four 6 might be pushing it and as for the sturdiness not really great it feels like arts and crafts wood rather than anything heavy duty and you have to screw more nails in because it doesn't secure the top half as well the design is beautiful yet the wood is a bit chipped yet that's to be expected and as for the roof it tends to flake off a bit so that's the black little specks you'll find in the box it's not entirely safe so I would recommend building a chicken coop run that also protects the coop but overall it's fine for it's price just wouldn't say it's as good as a built by someone chicken coop ... show more

  • Instructions weren’t super clear but got it built and it’s cute
Size: AIR28 Color: Grey
The sturdiness of this hutch is pretty good. I cannot attest to how it is in the weather as I just put it together yesterday, but it felt very sturdy when I was done putting it together. As well, my two children were playing in it (not the hutch itself) and it didn’t break or move. I can’t fully give it a 5 star review because in a few spots where the wire is attached to the wood frame, it was broken and detached. I bent the wires back as best I could, it wasn’t big spots. My plan is to use it for my quail when they’re a bit more ready to be outside and out of the brooder; so as a good comparison for those broken spots, the holes aren’t big enough for them to get through. Another reason for the 4 stars is because the instructions weren’t super clear for me. I like detailed instructions that make something kind of idiot proof, these were not like that at all. It took me a little while to figure out how it wanted the hinges to be attached for the roof. It wasn’t clear which side goes down for each piece so I had to figure that out on my own. Overall it took less than an hour to put together, difficulty was not that bad just wish the instructions were more clear, and the hutch and run itself are absolutely adorable. My quail are going to love it, I can’t wait to use it. ... show more
