Style: Door Opener
This unit has features that provide convenience and security. I have three doors with similar openers. With my iphone, these openers alert me when they cycle. I can see door status and operate them remotely. With many years of using these internet based features I find they are rock steady with almost no system down time. With the battery backup feature DC drive motors are employed and they have acceleration at initiation and completion of the cycles. The motor slowly starts and nearing the end of a cycle, it slows down so there is no start stop jerking. They are extremely quiet. If there is a power failure, the doors still operate. Using provided transmitters, vehicle Homelink or the outside button pad I can gain access to my house even without utility power. The light is bright internal LED. On the negative side, this unit replaces a similar Chamberlain opener made in 2015 which intermittently failed to remember the open/close stops resulting in failure to close. Reprogramming the stops restored function for a few days and then the failure returned. Based on the high cost of a replacement main board, I opted to buy this new opener. So for you math lovers a life span of 7 years equates to about $40/year to own one of these. (I have three). If you want the internet intelligence and do not want to buy a new opener, Chamberlain makes a kit that adds that functionality to a non-smart opener. (Chamberlain MyQ Wi-Fi Smart Garage Door Hub - Model Number MYQ-G0302) I have one of these kits and it integrates into the myQ app perfectly. As far as Alexa integration, I looked at that and it appears convoluted so I didn't lose a lot of time on it. I expected more than 7 years life from my previous unit and hope for 10-15 with the new one. However, in my experience more complexity breeds higher failure rates but buzzers and bells thrill me so I will live with that. ... show more

    • Super quiet Belt drive
Style: Door Opener
Most people I know complain about noisy chain drive system. So if walls are close and no room for wall mount direct drive systems, the belt drive is the way to go. They are really quiet. I bought 3 and installed for my brother in law and he is happy. If you are replacing an existing system, like I was, check all the wiring. much of it was 25 year old broken preinstalled wiring. I ended up replacing all of it. If you are doing just one garage door, replace it. There is enough wire for a standard size garage. But if you need more 18 guage bell wire will work fine using appropriate splices ( I used grey 14-18 guage wire nuts). If your not proficient at this sort of thing, then check for locksmiths, handyman,low voltage electrician, alarm installers, Electronics Technicians,etc.Any number may be knowledgeable to help. You don't know if you don't ask. For anyone doing on their own. Read the instructions. Then read them again. The Belt tensioner has to be installed a certain way when installing the drive belt. Be careful after installing the belt tensioner as you will have to release the spring tension. It will snap. Use caution. Also when programming and setting limit stops pay attention to the instructions to stop short of the physical limits. Once set everything will work great. Good Luck. You will be happy. ... show more

    • Nice garage door opener
Style: Door Opener
So I had a chamberlain belt opener already installed and I needed to replace it (the belt and the opener gear were worn out). The prior opener had a solid 1 piece rail that I really wanted to use again. After installing the belt and opener, we discovered the old rail was about 2 inches short (opener and belt were just replaced). This was frustrating because taking it all back down and removing the rail was not fun. It would be most helpful if the manufacturer would not change their rail lengths so their units were easier to replace. I give you 4 stars also because really, it is a garage door opener. Focus on getting the door up and down not cameras, Alexa, all the other stuff that will get hacked and cause your door to open when you don't want it to. Some of us just want a door opener. My old on lasted 17 years, hope this new one does as well. ... show more
