    • Unbelieveably Quiet, Great Features and Integration
I primarily wanted one of these wall mount openers after staying at an Air BnB and noticing how quiet their door opened. My toddler would wake up whenever I used the door opener since his room was directly above the garage, so I would end up manually lifting the garage open and closed....which as you can imagine got old pretty quickly. I installed this system myself using nothing more than an impact driver with a few different bits and a level. Difficulty level out of 10 I would say is a 5. Nothing really difficult, just lots of steps that involve standing on a ladder, running wire, etc. The step-by-step video instructions using the Bilt app is far more useful than I thought it would be, so nice job there. I watched the instructions on my phone from start to finish before taking any of the parts out of the box so I highly recommend doing that. Having the ability to replay setting lift max and bottom max configuration is great as well as programming the home link remote on my vehicles. Things I love: 1. It so much quieter than the screw drive opener that came with the house. I can sit in my toddler's room and operate the door and not hear a thing. 2. Extra security using the Aladdin app is great, I get notifications when my door opens and closes, I set rules for the door so it shouldn't be open for more than 5 minutes between 10pm and 6am, and I love the automatically engaging lock that physically stops the roller from moving up the track. 3. The included light is nice and bright, and I love that it takes the place on the ceiling where the old opener was and uses the old outlet. 4. The backup battery, its one of those things that I won't appreciate until I need it in a power outage. Hopefully that day isn't any time soon. Other notes: I also replaced the roller wheels to a sealed nylon wheel and the door is even quieter than I imagined. I don't really see myself using the service that allows amazon drivers to open the door and place packages inside unless I absolutely need to, like if I buy something really expensive and I know I won't be home. Just doesn't seem worth it to me to give that kind of access. ... show more

    • But please - BUY A SURGE SUPPRESSOR
First off - I do really like this opener. It operates smoothly, the wifi connects, it gives an alert when the door opens/closes using the app, the range is decent for the car mounted opener. It has a wifi enabling light - yes the light must be plugged in for it to connect to wifi. Getting it connected to wifi and programmed to the car was a bit tricky, but it did work once I followed the directions. It has a delay close option which is nice if your exit door in your garage is either hard to get to or blocked. You can also remotely turn the light on. Since the opener supports both Google Home and Alexa, you can even open/close the door just using a voice command. There is even a video tutorial to help install and adjust the garage door once installed. Note that this opener requires a torsion spring design, it will not function on doors that have the springs that run parrallel to the rails. It mounts to the end of the shaft to turn the support rod of torsion spring. That shaft must be straight (i.e. no wobble / bend in the rod) since the opener is hard mounted to the wall with little give within the coupler. See the online install manual for additional clearance needs to the side and above. However - it is sensitive to power outage/surge. Looking closer, the internal design does not include surge suppression. My experience was that after a power outage they worked on battery for a day then stopped working. After debugging with the help of their technical support hotline I have found both transformers had failed. Genie does sell and extra surge suppressor ($13) which I highly recommend getting especially if you live in an area that is prone to power disruptions. A GFI outlet, which is noted in the installation steps is NOT a surge suppressor - they are two different animals. Genie does stock replacement components such as circuit boards and transformers and accessories such as additional hard wired wall switches, wireless keypads and other items. I really want to like this opener. Super quiet, app connection is great but my remotes will not stay paired. The wall mount and app work great but the other remotes and keypad stop connecting after 10-15 minutes. The good: Very quiet Side mount profile opens up garage ceiling Easy install App connection Battery back up The bad: Remote will not stay paired Customer service, good luck reaching someone. Full story, installed 8/2/25, and connected 2 vehicles and the keypad. After about 20 minutes, I tested one of the vehicles and it would not open. I reset the remote and same problem. I tried with and without the battery connected, battery alone, disconnected/reconnected all devices and even factory reset the opener. Same problem. Overall spent about 3 hours troubleshooting this issue. I emailed Genie customer service that night, it’s now been 4 days without a reply. I called 8/3 and asked for a call back as wait times were over an hour. No call back. I called again on 8/5 and spoke with a representative, Michael, very kind but could not help. He said a manager would need to call me the next day. We agreed on 9-10am. No call. I called again 8/6 and requested a call. No luck. At this point, I have a 1/2 way functioning opener. The app still works, so that’s a plus, but frustrating to get a faulty device without support. UPDATE: Spoke with customer service. They sent out a new control board. Fairly easy install, but did take some time to do properly. This had no effect on performance. Able to reach another representative and explained the problem. They advised the wall console opener was at fault and sent out a new one. Installed it 8/19 and continue to have the same problem. At this point, need to see about a wired console or returning the opener and going with my back up option, a chamberlain device. ... show more
