    • Must Have for 8' door!
Simple to install and works as advertised. You must use this kit if you have an 8' garage door. It does seem silly and a waste of resources to send a new, longer chain and cable when all that is needed is a short piece of chain and a repair link. The original chain and cable is not even used.

I called Chamberlain to ask about a replacement when my previous Lift Master/Chamberlain garage door opener failed after 20 years of service. They recommended this opener rather than a cheaper model that, on paper, should have worked. Chamberlain's customer service was excellent, by the way. This opener went up and worked like a champ first time with only one change to my existing mount points. I had to purchase a length extension because the length of the opener out of the box was too short, even though I was pretty careful to measure everything and compare to what the manufacturer's specs indicated were necessary. After I got the extension added to the opener, which was almost too easy, I moved my mounting point back about three inches from the previous location.     • Works for some Craftsman Chain Drive openers
I bought this in hopes it would work with my Craftsman 1/2 hp Model: 54985 . Turns out it fit fine. It was the exact same tube and chain type. I used it for a custom vertical mount to open roll up doors. Worked great. Going to order a second because its so inexpensive, to have as a spare chain.
