Bought one of these for the den, loved it. Bought a second to replace a bedroom nightstand clock. After seeing the USB port on the back, I assumed it was a charging port like the Timex clock it was replacing. However, it is only a data port and does not charge a phone plugged into it. Since this was the main reason I bought the product, it goes back. However, the Show works great as a satellite Echo device in my den. Audio quality is excellent for a small speaker, which is fortunate since the current model deletes the 3.5mm audio jack so I can't plug it into my stereo speakers. The Assistant hears me well, even through a glass door cabinet. I bought refurb, so the unit came in a plain brown box and said refurbished. Honestly I couldn't see a sign of wear on either of the Shows I bought. The cost savings is well worth it given the clean condition of the device. Configuration options are also terrific. Amazon won't want to hear this, but I wanted a simple clock display, no background, no prompts for smart features or upsells, just a simple device with a white-on-black clock display that responds to voice commands. Through a combination of Do Not Disturb, Night Mode and an all-black photo in the gallery, I was able to configure the Show to do exactly what I wanted. After reading what I just wrote, I upgraded my overall rating from three to four stars because it's an excellent device for everything except the one thing I bought it for. Recommended.

This is just what I needed. My daughter and I talk frequently when I am at work. and just playing on my computer and it is a pain to have to tab back and forth or leave our call to answer another call. (she lives 2000 miles away and is my youngest planning a wedding) so this allows us to talk and keep both my computer and phone free .... it came very quickly, and was packaged well considering I got it from the warehouse. perfect size for what I needed. only con is I wish a few more of the games were not subscription based. but that is my only complaint. and I wish I knew how to make her a little more sassy and rude. overall Just What This Mom and Grandma needed to stay connected since I work from home and am always working.

The Echo Show 5 is a good companion device I use as a kitchen radio, digital photo album, and information hub as I'm getting ready in the morning to check weather and train departures. You can also drop in on the Echo as a security camera or webcam when you leave the house using the Alexa phone app. The camera can be disabled with an included physical cover. The most annoying thing about this device are the amounts of copious ads that seem to display for longer than the pictures in the digital photo frame. Even as a Prime and Amazon music subscriber it's ridiculous to constantly get bombarded with ads and upsells which Alexa disguises as "suggestions". "Try my trivia skill! Lol guess what you've signed up for a 7-day trial of the Question of the Day!" It feels like a tacky money grab at every corner. Other than that, it's nice little information hub and the speakers are pretty decent for its size.

I love the fact that I can see who is at my doorbell without picking up my phone going through all the prompts. I tell her to view my camera and she does and I can talk thru it to ppl at the door. It also has a camera so if your give you can view who's inside when your gone AMAZING

Had it not been for the brown box instead of the original packaging, I would've never known it's refurbished. This little device looks and sounds brand spanking new. I am extremely satisfied and will be buying one as a birthday present. Added bonus, you're getting it second hand which is better for the planet. Double Yay! Thanks amazon!
