  • Love it and safes time and money!
I love this. I got it for Father's day and it has already redone several batteries saving me $$$ it also let me know my alternator was bad which I suspected but this helped me confirm. The only feature I wish it did have was like a battery backup lol which I never do use those but out of 8 different chargers in all price ranges in the last 3 years this is the best!!!! ... show more

  • A Solid Performing Charger
This battery charger charges quickly and offers a good indication of the charging state on its display. The unit is fairly well made and should withstand frequent use in busy homes or even garages. Best of all, this charger is easy to use. Make the battery connections, plug it in and hit the charge button. A cooling fan comes on as the unit works. Overall, this is a 5 star product. ... show more

  • Works well
Seems to work well charging batteries. The cables are a bit stiff just like my HF model. Its big and heavy but handles a lot of different batteries and can work as a jump box. I have not tried this feature yet, but this one does work good for battery charging. I can charge both my 6V golf cart batteries and my 12v deep cycle without any problems. Hopefully this one works as long as my HF model did. ... show more

  • 40-Amp Rolling Battery Charger.
I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools and equipment. This battery charger is rated at 40 amps charging rate and a 200 amp engine start rating for 12V batteries which is a nice size charger, it also has a 3 amp trickle setting. The outer case is made of metal, the LED display is reasonable size and easy to read. The battery cables are nice and long as they should be, but the ad states it is a commercial battery charger, and unfortunately the cables and the battery clamps are not impressive at all. They cables should handle the 40 amps rating, but they are certainly not robust by any means. The 110V cord is a nice longer length, but again, not robust at all. Has a metal grab handle which is handy, so is strong enough to handle commercial shop use. Comes with an instruction manual that is reasonable in size and the print is readable. Price point is considered high for this item. ... show more

  • Pretty large, but worth the storage space for the 40 amp capability for jump starting
I have relied on an old Craftsman charger for years for basic battery charging and maintenance. It’s simple to use, and small enough that you can just sit it next to the vehicle while it does its thing. The problem is that it only has a 10 amp jump charge setting, which is pretty useless for anything but a small (non-car) battery. This ‘Cat CBC200EW Professional 40-Amp Rolling Battery Charger’ solves that problem. I was able to use it to jump start my car battery where my smaller charger could not. All that comes at a bit of a price in size: this one will take up much more space in your garage, but it’s worth not having to pull out jumper cables, back up another vehicle, connect them up, sometimes need to rev the engine, etc. It has all the usual battery charger features: battery charging and battery maintenance, with a display showing volts and battery charge level. IT has a few extra features such as pulse technology to help break up sulfates/recondition the battery and an alternator check, which usually requires a separate load tester. The screen is large and easy to read. The handle is a little on the short side, as most are, requiring you to bend over, but if you’re not going to be moving it a lot that’s not a problem. All metal casing. The clamps are adequate, although not what I’d consider heavy duty. If you don’t need the jump start capability it’s a bit large, but for that use only it’s worth the size ‘cost.’ ... show more

  • Solid quality, easy to use, and performs well when you need it to
I've owned a couple different Cat products, so I figured I'd give this a go since a battery charger is always nice to have around the garage. From what I can tell, the build is pretty solid, it feels heavy duty, and it's easy to move around. The cables are moderately long, but you can always use an extension cord if need be, and they store nicely after you're done. You can also use this to test alternators as well; which is helpful at diagnosing those issues so you don't have to go to the auto parts store. As far as testing, I haven't had the need to charge any batteries yet, but I did get to jump start a friend's older vehicle that he had sitting in his garage, and it worked flawlessly. We even tested his alternator just to see if it worked. So far I'd say this is a great tool to have in the garage for any home mechanic. Even for beginners this isn't that hard to use; therefore I highly recommend it to anyone. ... show more
