The perfect Dutch oven that can do it all and then some! I needed a Dutch oven for Sourdough bread making, but I wanted one I could use for multiple purposes. I've always liked the weight and flavors that come from using a cast iron skillet, making this a perfect choice. I love how the lid also works as a skillet! I can brown meat in it and make a stew. I can mix up a casserole and then bake it in the same dish. It saves you from dirtying up half a dozen dishes for one meal. It's baking capacity it perfect! For sourdough bread, you can put the loaf in the top or bottom either one. The difference between this unit and an iron skillet, is if you are using it for means instead of just baking bread and using parchment paper, you do have to care for it properly or it will rust. That is not the fault of the product. Cast iron should never be placed in a dishwasher. If it must be washed, then it needs to be done as soon as the pot is emptied and never left in the sink to "soak". It should be washed, dried thoroughly, seasoned (oiled), and placed upside down in a warm oven for at least 20 minutes to re-season it. I bought my seasoning oil here on Amazon years ago. You use such a small amount each time that it lasts forever. Just pour a small amount in and wipe it all over the inside with a paper towel. If it gets rust spots on the outside, you can re-season it as well, just be prepared for some burn off the first time you use it. This is a quality Dutch oven at a great price. I highly recommend it anyone that likes iron skillets and is looking for a Dutch oven, or anyone that just needs a Dutch oven for bread. You just have to know how to care for them. Cast iron heats evenly, holds heat, can be placed over a fire if camping, is very versatile, and will last forever when taken care of properly. NEVER use a cooking spray on cast iron, it's like some kind of glue that never comes off, it's cast iron's kryptonite. Only use oil or butter.

The lid stays securely in place and does not slide around, which could be terrifying when removing from the oven. I LOVE the versatility of this pot, as the lid is a frying pan too. I really like this dutch oven. It's the Cast Iron Dutch Oven Pot with Skillet Lid 5qt I use it for baking bread. In an upside down orientation (skillet side down). As others have mentioned it will rust. That's what cast iron does especially when used in high heat with out oil or fat.. This happened to me around the third or fourth bake. So, after the 5th and sixth bake i clean the dutch oven about 10 min after taking the bread out. Let it dry for a few min. Applied some grape seed oil and back in the already heated oven (never turned it off). So, you season this like any other piece of cast iron cookware. No big whoop. Also, this seems to be really durable and versatile. Can't wait to use for something else like grillin

I tried this Umite Chef cast iron dutch oven and ended up returning it, but overall it seems like a solid and well-made piece of cookware. The cast iron feels heavy and durable, and the pre-seasoned surface is a nice touch for easier use right away. I also like the versatility with the skillet lid, which adds extra functionality for cooking. It looks like it would work great for baking bread or outdoor cooking. However, it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for, which is why I decided to return it. It may be a great option depending on your needs, especially if you’re used to cooking with cast iron.
