Features

  • PROFESSIONAL GRADE sliding transfer shower bench, bath, and shower chair for inside shower. Effortless sliding and pivoting for safe, easy transfers in and out of the tub. Platinum Health products are used in thousands of hospitals, nursing homes, and private homes by customers who value quality, safety, convenience, and comfort over price. Note: OPTIONAL LEG EXTENSION KIT AVAILABLE FOR TUBS WITH HIGH LEDGE.
  • PADDED SHOWER SEAT, BACK, AND ARMRESTS. No more cold, slippery, hard plastic parts like old-style bath chairs; the well-made Carousel provides warm-to-the-touch, comfortable, slip-resistant padding on all main components. The medical-grade, closed-cell molded polyurethane padding on this shower chair for the bathtub will not absorb any water and is easy to clean and disinfect.
  • SWIVEL-SEAT SPACE-SAVING DESIGN. Not only is the swivel seat safer, easier to use, and more comfortable than a standard fixed seat, this bath chair shower chair for seniors design means that the chair protrudes into the room much less than a traditional transfer bench. More convenient for the user, and more convenient for others that dont require the use of the chair since the free space in the bathroom is much greater.
  • ROBUST, WEIGHT-BEARING ARM RESTS. The padded arm rests on this bath and shower chair for seniors provide extra safety and convenience. Unlike standard chairs with no armrests, the robust armrests on the Carousel can be used as leverage points to help the user into and out of the chair. They also provide important additional physical and psychological support against slips and falls and fear of slips and falls.
  • HIGH CONTRAST COLOR FOR SAFETY. Our unique HI-VIEW BLUE color makes the key parts of this handicap shower chair with arms much easier to see by vision-impaired users, ideal for handicapped accessories. Rather than blending in with the background like old-style white benches, the blue contrast color helps users distinguish the chair from its surroundings and significantly reduces slips, trips and falls- the leading cause of death by injury in people over 65.

  • Nearly three years and counting
Item Shape: Standard - Blue
I bacame a paraplegic just over three years ago (broke my back in a fall), and purchased one of these at the time. Retired from over twenty-three years as an RN, I have worked with a lot of equipment. This one has been a stellar performer, unique to my knowledge and irreplaceable for my needs. The superior quality is evident in the look (I love blue) and feel of the materials. My wife, bright, but no mechanical engineer, was able to assemble it easily. Squeezing past the toilet in our 5'X10' bathroom, any other chair would have had me pointed sideways or toward the back wall. With this chair, I make a 90 degree slide onto the seat from my wheelchair. Then, with the siderail in place, I make a 180 degree rotation to face the shower head, then float over into the center of our 60" X 30" shower stall. Facing the front, I can adjust the controls and function fairly independelntly. When finished, I lift myself with my arms and my helper slips a dry towel under my bum so I can slide back into the wheelchair after I towel off. (She dries anythihg I can't reach.) The dry towel slides easily on the transfer board where my skin tends to stick. There is absolutely no lifting required by anyone except me. While showering, I lift myself with my arms so my helper can wash and rinse my caboose, and then there is the dry towel to get me back into the chair and back into bed. That uniquely functional shower chair contributes to the differnce between me living at home or having to be cared for in a facility. I already have a three-year track record with this chair. I did have to replace it recently, but given the strains placed on it when I lift myself with the armrests and the corrosive environment, I feel like I got my money's worth. The forward support for the right armrest fractured. I tried to obtain a replacement part but the response from the company was that the chair was out of warranty and that replacement was indicated. I realized that encouraging patients, aged or not, to begin repairing their own medical devices would likely open them up to all kinds of unpleasant litigation, so the policy seems reasonable and prudent. The chair has functioned faithfully and its functionality has played a role in keeping me at home and happy without necessitating a major remodel. The looks, reliability, and functionality are exceptional. What more can you ask for? ... show more

  • Smooth Transfers and Real Comfort in the Shower
Item Shape: Standard - Blue
Smooth Transfers and Real Comfort in the Shower This sliding shower chair has been a game-changer for making bathing safer and easier. The padded swivel seat glides smoothly across the bench, so moving in and out of the tub is far less of a struggle. The 360° swivel function is a nice touch because it reduces awkward twisting, and the pivoting arms give extra support for balance when standing up or sitting down. The padding is comfortable and doesn’t feel slippery when wet, which is important for confidence and safety. I also appreciate the adjustable legs—they let me set the height to fit both the tub and the user comfortably. The frame feels sturdy and well-built, yet it doesn’t take up excessive room in the bathroom. Assembly was straightforward, and everything lined up properly. The chair has a substantial feel to it—no wobbling or cheap plastic parts—and the sliding mechanism operates smoothly. One thing to be aware of is that it does require enough clearance along the side of the tub or shower for the sliding motion, so smaller bathrooms might need some measuring before purchase. Bottom line: A well-designed, high-quality shower chair that truly makes transfers easier and safer. The comfort, smooth glide, and stability set it apart from standard benches, and it’s worth the investment for anyone needing extra bathing support. ... show more

  • Absolute game-changer for the mobility-impaired!!
Item Shape: Bariatric - Blue
I had a stroke a couple years ago, and have very limited use of my left side at the moment. Walking, standing for long periods, and getting onto my transfer bench in the tub has certainly been a major challenge, and cannot always be done with the utmost safety. Amazon recommended this item for me several months ago (hey, give credit where credit is due, right?), and after checking it out I decided to go for it. And oh my gosh, it is unbelievable how easy this makes the transfer process. This bench slides from side to side, and pivots 90 degrees. It can slide while pivoting and vice versa. So, I start out with the bench slid all the way out of the tub, pivoted 180 degrees away from the tub so I can just sit in it once I enter the bathroom and make my turn. From there, I can pivot the seat clockwise, sliding the bench a little bit in toward the tub at the same time so my legs can clear the toilet. The seat clicks into place facing the showerhead side of the tub, but still slid outside the tub. I put my right leg over the tub edge and into the tub, get some help to put my left leg in as I slide further into the tub, and then "click!" it locks into place. I then pivot a little bit more to get some extra room, and I'm ready to get clean. It literally takes less than 5 minutes, when it used to take about 15 and be a lot less safe. The bench is extremely well-made and sturdy, and all the sliding and locking mechanisms have worked flawlessly to date. You might want to cut off the seatbelt if you don't use it, because otherwise it gets in the way. It's made of a kind of squishy, comfortable, firm foam. If you can't tell, I can't speak more highly of this product. It's worth every penny, and if it broke today I'd order another one tomorrow. Vastly increases quality of life, in that it makes showering a ton easier. Most highly recommended! ... show more
