Cooking evenness The 10-inch saute pan was used in the flour test. I coated the pan in a thin layer of shortening, sprinkled flour in a fine layer, and heated it over a medium heat. All the flour browned almost completely evenly, without any significant hot or cold spots. I also baked cornbread in the 4.5 qt. saute pan, and both the bottom and sides came out evenly browned like the flour test. Stove top non-stick performance I used the the 8-inch frying pan and the 3-quart saucepan for the following tests. I cooked three eggs in both pans without any oil and without wiping them; all released cleanly, although one egg needed a single poke to release. Oily pancakes also flopped out cleanly. A homemade mac and cheese dish, with the noodles cooked directly in the cheese sauce, did not have any real sticking and wiped clean with minimal effort. Oven non-stick performance For oven-safe testing, eggs were baked in the 2-quart saucepan. The pan was also used to roast potatoes afterward. The food released just as well as the stove top performance, and the oil and browning required almost no effort to wipe clean. Cleaning and durability Cleanup was easy for all the pans. The sticky, cheesy macaroni and the barbecue sauce from the chicken tenders wiped or rinsed off easily. I dislike running non-stick in the dishwasher, so I only did one test run for two of the pans that had sticky dishes in them. After this one-and-only cycle, nothing bad happened to the non-stick, and there were no other issues. To preserve the non-stick, limited runs in the dishwasher are recommended. Handles: The first set of detachable handles I ever got had a button release directly under your thumb, which was terror-inducing when trying to get leverage on something heavy. However, the handles for these pans use a lever design, so I feel way more comfortable using them. They lock onto the edge of the pans incredibly securely, like a vise. You can also use more than one on different sections to get a better grip for sloshing stocks and rolling roasts. This is the third Carote set I've reviewed, although never to this degree. I would say that this set performs just as well as their more premium option, but a LOT better than their extreme budget line of pans.

The media could not be loaded. If you are looking for affordable, high quality pots and pans that look great, look no further! I’m pleased ten fold with the quality of Carote products. This 18pc sets you up for success straight out of the box. The pots and pans are perfect in size, and the removable handle really makes for saving space- perfect for people limited on space OR for people like me, that use multiple sets because kitchen gadgets are your weakness. While listed as the color “red” they definitely are more mauve. The lids are fairly flat (unlike traditional dome lids- so again, easier to store or put in the dishwasher). They have a silicone lip that creates a nice seal. Spouts on the pots make for easy draining. The pots and pans are a nice weight and can be cooked on any traditional cookware- gas, electric, induction. These pans heat up nicely on my induction and cook evenly. The provided cooking utensils not only match the color of the pans spot on, but are easy to cook with and aid in not scratching, prolonging the life of the pots and pans. Food doesn’t stick (don’t use high heat of course), and is easy to clean. While I usually wash my pots and pans by hand, I LOVE that these can be thrown in the dishwasher for the days I’m busy or feeling extra lazy. Being free of PFA’s is super important to me, so I appreciate that I can cook for my family without worry.

I LOVE the Carote brand. I have several other Carote kitchen items and they are as equally beautiful as this cookware set and also as crazily & cooly multi-functional. I've grown a little skeptical of non-stick coatings, especially since we had to chuck our last non-stick set (in favor of this), which served us well, but chipped and nicked coating chips, so we'll see how this stands up over time. It's aluminum but the consolation is the set of non-scratching utensils also included. I am using the trivets to protectively nest the pans, which cause them to nest more precisely than without them, and I regrettably and unknowingly threw out the paper protectors. My husband immediately expressed concern about the handle grips since they are removable and clamp on to the pans, but this is ingenious! The handles are actually of different weights, with the heavier one belonging to the bigger pans and the lighter handle for the smaller pans. Just push up the beautiful gold button to unlock and clamp it to the edge of the pan and click closed. I love that the clamp is made of protective bakelite material to prevent it from damaging the pan via (repeated) clamping, which I was worried about. But I even love the fact that you can cook in these pans without a handle. Just a beautiful set. The knob lids are also beautiful and were easy to screw on. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the double spouts at each end of the pans-but which is also great for pouring-and the cut-outs on either side of the lids, which makes tight sealing (for things like rice) un-doable.
