Needed something that was not high so that it was easy for me to step over. I have a dog sitting service and even the large dogs will not jump over the gate because we use the gates at the bottom or top of the stairs indoors. I have not used it outdoors on the deck steps so I am not sure how it would hold up to rust. It is painted and looks nice. I like that that it works on compression and not have to screw anything in. It’s easy to use, light and well designed. I use it at the top and bottom of our indoor steps. The design to lock and unlock is easy to use. I like the rubber on the sides so it is gentle on the walls or whatever material you are putting it against. Only thing I would say to improve is to have some kind of rubber on the bottom so as not to scratch the floor but it can easily be improvised with tape or some other material. .

We already had a two-year-old dog and then we adopted a rescue cat from a hoarding situation and gave him one room in the house to decompress in for 2 weeks. We borrowed a baby gate from a friend so that the dog couldn't go in there and annoy the cat, but it was a pain taking the gate on and off to let the cat out for a while each day. I saw this on Amazon and figured what a perfect solution it can just stay up and the cat can go in and out when he wants to. I didn't give a high rating to how easily the little door locks or unlocks because frankly we don't use it, we actually secured it to be open at all times. I have issues with my hands, and I found it actually fairly easy for me to pop the gate into the door frame and take it back out again much easier than the baby gate we have been using. If we have to leave the house for the day, we just close the solid door behind the baby gate so the cat can't roll around the house when we're not home for the day and he has his litter box and food and water in his room. The little doorway in the gate is too small for the dog to get through but he can stick his head in. What I like most about it is that the cat is still adjusting and there are some things that will scare him suddenly and this way he can go flying back into the safety of his room and go into his closet whenever he feels he's threatened by some noise.

This gate is well-made and very functional: The rubber feet hold the gate in place solidly and it is working well to keep a small dog out of the laundry room (where the litter box is located). I saw some negative reviews complaining it doesn't adjust correctly, but I suspect that is due to not using the twist adjustment piece to lock into place: This isn't the easiest and most intuitive fitting, but it does work. You can pull up the clip piece to unlock quickly, but I still have to fiddle with the twist part to lock it back into place (maybe that's just me). If you can't step over this height and you need to go through this gate regularly, this might be an issue for you, but for anyone else, I would recommend it.

Bought this gate to keep our 2 terriers out of the cat box. This gate is small enough that it’s easy to step over and seems sturdy and well made. This works well for us because we don’t need to take it down more than once a week or so when we want to clean underneath the mats in the closet. It’s the perfect size for our cat to get over without letting the dogs through. Our girl dog still wanders in a few times a day hoping for a nice kitty litter snack but always comes back out disappointed by her inability to get to it. 😂

Can’t say enough good about this high quality gate. We have a senior dog who’s lost cognition and hearing. So he doesn’t stay out of the kitchen like he used to. We found ourselves tripping over him and it was dangerous for everybody. We bought two of these to put on either side of the island. Love them for a few reasons. (1) no need to use the brackets to permanently drill holes into the kitchen island and cabinets. Use them if you want, but they aren’t necessary. The tension is plenty strong enough to grip - STAYS PUT! (2) I suspended them about 2 inches above the floor to easily vacuum and mop under there. (3) more attractive than other suspension gates. (4) it took literally a minute to install: choose height, slide pin hole to your needed distance, twist the dial to push the tension to perfect tightness. (6) if you have a very small dog, there is an adorable little opening to allow them to get through when you want. (7) GREAT PRiCE! Other, cheaper looking and flimsier gates were more expensive.

Now I can leave him unsupervised in his space and not worry about him getting into something he’s not supposed to!! Also, stops him from trying to make a run out the door. This gate is exactly what I’ve been looking for! It literally took two seconds to set it up and all three of my little dogs go through the door just fine with room to spare. It’s perfect to keep the girls out of the bedrooms (all spayed rescues) After I spent about 10 minutes and a gallon of goo gone to remove the tacky warning label all is good! In fact, I love this product so much I’m purchasing a second. I will say I am quite positive. If my girls were determined enough, they could climb over which is why I bought the extra tall gate for when I really need to make sure they can’t escape. I just got the extra tall gate today. I think I finally found something that one particular little girl can’t climb over. I love these gates are great!

I got this as a cheaper option for a gate so my dog can’t get upstairs. My dog doesn’t jump over anything but if your dog does you should get a bigger gate! This was perfect for my stairs because I can step over it as well. The gate is not the gate you want to remove if you want to get past it because it is a little difficult and would take some time to do that. However this gate I can step over and was a great affordable option for me! This is also more for sm/med size dogs!
