Features

  • Accurate Location: The mechanical stethoscope has a sensitive acoustic chamber to pinpoint the source of the noise, helping to accurately locate abnormal engine noise. Suitable for diagnosing valve train, bearings, transmission, gears and other engine problems
  • High Quality: The engine stethoscope is made of high quality stainless steel and heavy-duty vinyl tubing, sturdy, reliable, abrasion-resistant, not easy to rupture
  • How To Use: mechanical stethoscope probe can pinpoint the source of the sound, earplugs isolate the outside noise, and the audio shock amplifier ball amplifies the sound; simply follow the loudest sound in the engine and make contact between the probe and the surface to confirm it; if you can't detect the problem right away, you can check other places
  • Packages Include: this mechanic tools set includes 2 metal probes: 3.3 inch medium needle probe and 8.4 inch extension probe
  • Easy Installation: Attach the threaded end of the expansion probe to the centre pin probe of your car's stethoscope, which can be extended to 11.7 inches in length for easy access to hard-to-reach spaces

  • This is a MUST-HAVE for mechanics.
Color: 1Pc
My Harley motor was making noise but it was impossible to precisely isolate the source. I suspected bad lifters which could only be properly diagnosed by removing the pushrods and then removing the lifters. Which also meant first removing all of the exhaust! My solution was to use a stethoscope which I'd never used. In looking at options and cost this unit seemed to offer the most options and flexibility for the price. I was absolutely astonished at how well this performed and the way it worked to pinpoint my noise almost immediately. I used the long metal vibration probe putting it in direct contact with the engine case in numerous points. I could hear clearly and learned that in fact there were no real issues, and certainly no problems with the lifters, rocker arms, cam chain, compensator or bearings. In fact I learned the noise came from the primary chain which simply needed to be properly tensioned. Saved me an unnecessary tear down in just a few short minutes. I came away with unexpected peace of mind and new indispensable tool! ... show more

  • Pinpoint the Noise.
Color: 1Pc
Excellent tool for pinpointing noises from vehicles. Engines, pumps, solenoids and relays. This conducts the sound and at the same time filters out the rest of noise from the engine. I use to use the screw driver and broom handle trick but that was a little hit or miss and sometime difficult to get into tight places. This is a must have for the DIY shade tree folks. Pros: Good sound conduction, length of probe is decent, two piece probe allows for fitting in most tool boxes. Cons: The two part probe/conductor often come loose during use. Needs to be tightened periodically during use. Over all it has saved me from tearing into things that weren't an issue but presented as potential issues. ... show more

  • Works and Affordable
Color: 1Pc
Great, inexpensive mechanics stethoscope with extended probe. Works as expected and is very sensitive.

  • Decent Mechanic’s Stethoscope – Gets the Job Done
Color: 1Pc
This stethoscope works fairly well. I was able to pinpoint a ticking noise in the engine, which made it worth the purchase. The tubing is a two-piece design that screws together, and it feels a little flimsy because of that. However, it does what it's meant to do and is affordable enough to keep in the toolbox for quick diagnostics. ... show more

  • A tool every bicycle mechanic should have in their toolbox!
Color: 1Pc
Invaluable in tracking down those annoying ticks, rattles, and grinding noises you hear while riding your bike, but then can't quite reproduce in the shop when things are not "under load". Put the bike on a trainer or rollers, the stethoscope in your ears with the extension attached, and pinpoint that pesky sound while in the saddle and pedaling! ... show more

  • Very Helpful
Color: 1Pc
Never used one before so I wasn't sure what to expect. It definitely helped me pinpoint which pully was going bad. The small diameter of the probe and the extension helped get into some tight spaces. It was a lot easier than the old garden hose trick, or the prybar since you can actually see where you're putting the probe. A great tool to have in your arsenal. ... show more

  • Sub Par Construction. (Cheap)
Color: 1Pc
Works good but quality is lacking. It really is cheap construction, but since it still works I will continue to use it.

  • I used it to locate a leaking sprinkler valve
Color: 1Pc
From inside my basement I could hear water very slowly running through the pipe that heads outside to my irrigation system. My water meter didn't alert me to a leak and it's sensitive enough to do so... I was losing about 5 gal/hour for a few days. I suspected a solenoid valve and since they are 25 years old was ready to replace them but really wanted to be sure it was a valve first. I dug down to the valves and touched each one with the probe tip. I heard it easily on the valve for zone #3 - so confirmed it was a valve and even know which one. I tried taking it apart and putting it back together to reseal things to buy time, but no dice, so ordered all new valves since I have everything open. At least it's not the pipe or a fitting between the vacuum breaker and the valve manifold - at least not this time. Be careful, even though it's just manual / not amplified, sounds coming though it can be loud! Just crushing a grain of sand while probing the top of the solenoids resulted in quite a pop. ... show more
