    • Great printer! Just passed 50,000 square feet of printing. Works great, saves lots of $$
Here is an update. We just passed 50,000 square feet of printing. No breakdown or service. Would Highly recommend! We print out a significant number of sets of construction drawings, packages of 10 to 100 pages. This does a great job! I pretty much print all out at 18"x24". My prior HP printer flopped the pages around and it took too long to organize. These come out flat and organized. The print speed is pretty good, half of my HP and much quieter. The larger format inks look to be very inexpensive to use, I have printed out over 1500 pages and I just had to replace the starter package. I don't know what the actual ink usage will be, but I figure with the 500' rolls of paper it only costs me about $0.15 per page! Pretty easy set up. I assembled myself, an hour with two people would be better. The only downside is it is not wireless, but not a big problem work around. We just took an older laptop and made it a dedicated computer to operate the printer. ... show more

I ordered this to replace my discontinued canon ipf-750 and love it! It has Wi-Fi printing from my iPhone and computer. No issues so far and CES imaging was very helpful.

i went with Canon over HP just for the color photos, since it has the same speed for CAD drawings. However, i think that the Canon industrial designers need to spend a little time with Architects to see what they need in printers. I guess Canon is better suited to photographers/commercial artists rather than production drawings. I just got this printer, so perhaps i am premature in my views : 1) I got the 36" version since i assumed that in the Landscape position, that a 24" x 36" drawing would use 24" of the 36" wide roll. I must be doing something wrong because it prints 24" wide and 36" long,leaving me with a 36"x36" sheet. Luckily i had some 3"core 24" wide rolls from my old, fading Oce printer. Perhaps this can be corrected with a software update?? I must be doing something wrong..right??? 2) The set-up manual shows a sheet curling back onto itself in the fabric paper collector. We want something that stacks so that we can start printing and leave until it finishes at least 20 or so sheets. I found that after pulling a half dozen sheets forward, then it will start to fall forward rather than curling back onto itself. If the fabric collector was a little lower or allowed to rotate lower,perhaps it can stack. ( i had a video but this review would not take an MP4. So i made two screen shots of the video.) So i plan to permanently leave a half dozen plus sheets in the collector. This can't be, i thought---so basic i must be doing something wrong. 3) I discovered that i need to set it to "print as image". My drawing is a combination of typed text and pasted text in combination with the line and textured drawings. Typed text is ok, but unless it is treated as an "image", the pasted text comes out as a series of Os, as in OOOOOOOOOO. I was going to give it a 3, but i am getting it to work and i am sure that any large photos i do will be great--i hope. I hope that i am wrong on the other 2 items, that there are easy fixes because i have just started with this machine. Otherwise, the industrial designers need to expand their horizons. ... show more

    • Extremely expensive to operate
I wish there was a zero rating. This printer is a complete throw away. It never worked right as advertised from the start and cannon would not stand behind it (unless you purchase the crazy expensive maintenance pack which, by the way, covers practically nothing). If you want a printer that will last maybe 2 years at best and is very expensive to operate (the ink is crazy high and you also have to purchase a maintenance cartridge about every 6 months, oh yeah, that maintenance cartridge is what collects half of your ink that you bought since that is where it goes when it does a "nozzle check" , which it does every time you turn it on, so be prepared to buy ink every month also the print heads are $500 and higher and they last maybe a year if you are lucky). So yeah, if you like spending (your cost, once you have paid for all of the wasted ink, maintenance cartridges, print heads and paper) of about $18 per 24x36 copy (that is for engineering drawings not photos) then by all means go ahead and buy one of these. ... show more

I just got my new printer. It is replacing my HP T120. So far the printer is working great. Color is crisp and the prints are fast. I hope for a great experience for a long time. CES Imaging is great to work with. They are very responsive to my emails and calls with questions. I highly recommend.
