    • Basic, but Great Office Quality
Nice for basic, one-sided, black printing jobs. I did not even think to read if it could double-side print before I purchased it. I thought that was a standard feature for all printers. This one does not offer a double-sided print option. If I really needed to print on both sides, I could just reinsert the paper in the open tray. Positives for this printer, are that it has a nice print quality, and the printing speed is instantaneous. The setup was easy, too. I connected it to my desktop and it was ready to use. I didn't even need admin to get me through their protective network security layers. Plug and play. There were a lot of additional items in the box, including a CD, presumably for a hard drive set up, if needed. Thevdirections were straight forward. Downsides of this printer are a short receiving arm, and the paper tray is open, instead of enclosed like most printers. The website picture of this printer is a little deceptive because it looks like it is literally box shaped. However, when it is set up, the paper tray extends past the printer itself. The print quality is not superb, but it is perfect for forms, contracts, invoices, and other business type print jobs. I have not used the copy or scan features, so I cannot speak for those. Overall, this is an ideal, very simplistic, black ink, laser printer for the office. As long as you are not expecting grand features, this is a great printer for the price. I also found replacement cartridges for a very reasonable price. One more note: The packaging is very secure. It actually makes the printer look as if it is going to be twice the size that it actually is. Don't fret, it is small and compact, once you finally get it out of the huge box. ... show more

    • A printer that I had finally gave up and I needed something that was simple to print and scan with
Basically, I had a canon printer that had served me well for about 10 years. I predominantly printed in black-and-white and used to just scan documents and copy. It used to be back in the day that you had to buy a printer scanner copy or fax which really was way too much of what I needed. I didn’t even know that Canon made a black-and-white laser with just a scanner copier which fit my ticket perfectly. I spent about 10 minutes unpacking this unit and about another 10 minutes installing it. The driver was installed online and it was up and running in Microsoft windows 11 version 23H2 within minutes. The print speed on this item is super fast. You can send a print job and literally within about three seconds. It’s actually starting to print. The scan to PDF feature works flawlessly and the scan quality is very high and looks very good. I can’t say anything negative about this item. Now only time will tell how long it lasts and how well it does, but based on the Previous engagement with Canon. I think I’m going to have longevity with this product. ... show more

OK - It was an easy installation, but make sure you follow the instructions about removing orange tags, connecting the USB cable WHEN its instructed, etc. I found no issues getting to the point of downloading the software/drivers from the website, BUT, when I added the paper, I wanted to print a sample and there was my first paper jam. I removed the paper with no issues, it wasn't torn but the error was still there. I looked for information on the user guide on how to clear the error because I was turning OFF/ON the printer and the error was still there. I came to read reviews and only found one related to jams, and it ended up saying that the printer was going to be returned (couldn't argue on that cycle of frustration trying to get help and nothing does, I can relate!). So what I did, since I couldnt find clear answers at the Cannon website nor the user guides that come in the package, I turned into the good old Youtube videos for support. I found one specifically for this printer and although it didnt mentioned anything about how to solve the paper jam, I did noticed that when opening the printer and removing the toner that its already there, there was an orange plastic that I didn't see any instruction that it needed to be removed, so I proceeded with removing it (pictures are for reference); so I put the toner back again and closed the printer and there it was, error cleared and ready for printing! Now, the first three pages that I printed were not so much of a high quality but it serves my purpose, I don't need it for professional things, mostly are to print my stuff and make notes on the paper. If it was to print something for executive management or so, I wouldn't use this printer quality. So, I would recommend it for things like homework for example.     • EXCELLENT, WORKS W NO ISSUES (unlike most other printers).
Honestly, I HATE printers. They should work, and not fuss. That's what this printer is,... robust, works, no fuss. If you want color, this ain't it. I've taken this printer through 3 countries, lived in beach/sand, humidity, dry, and used with 4 different computers. It works, simple as that. Issues: Cannon, (as always) makes downloading the software very difficult, and it's not always plug and play w all CPU's. I own two, and I"ve bought 3. I've also bought many other printers, all the others in the recycle bin. This one lasted and stood test of time. VERY BASIC, can't break it (I've tried), Toner lasts, and you can use generic cheap toner options, no issues. Hard to set up the softward, but once it works, its a BASIC Simple WORKHORSE. We have an expensive fancy printer, I almost always use this one unless I need color, because I don't have to think or select anything. JUST PUSH PRINT, like it used to be when printers actually worked. ... show more
