  • Great propane stove
Purchased two of one about ten years ago and it still works very well. Bought another one for my friend. Very satisfied with this stove. The oven is a big plus. Use outside camping, in the backyard, and inside. Had power outages, however I was still able to cook meals. I highly recommend this stove, and will purchase it again. ... show more

  • Not bad
I used the Coleman folding oven for years and it was OK, but this raises the bar. I was able to make cinnamon rolls, orange rolls and baguettes during my camping trip. If I had one complaint it would be the burners. When one is on, it goes full heat, when both are on it's kinda anemic. I don't know if it's because I was using the 1lb propane bottle and that stopped it from warm up the pan as I wanted it to. ... show more

  • Reliable
This is my second one after the first one finally rusted after years of use in an outdoor kitchen. I even cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal with it. The only design flaw is the cooktop rack has angled corners so if you have too big of a pan the will fall off. Very dangerous. I was hoping the company would redesign this by now. ... show more

  • Great Oven Except for Thermometer Readings
I recently bought this oven to replace a full size home gas oven for our camping group, to avoid lugging around such a big appliance that had been converted to propane, and to avoid having to use a generator to keep the automatic igniter working on the old oven. I would have rated it five stars had the included thermometer read correctly. ( I would give it four and a half but that is not an option here ). Our group only used the oven part of our stove for biscuits and small dessert type things so the ability to use two 9x13 pans or bread loaf pans was not a problem and meets our needs. The two burners on top are a bonus since we also bought a three burner Camp Chef gas grill that is really powerful and works from simmer to full roar. I have used the stove several times now before taking it camping, always using it outside in the cold ( 38-low 50's ) to see how it would perform in the real world. I baked potatoes and banana bread a few times and found that it took longer than the directions said, but then found out that the thermometer that is installed at the top is WAY off. I bought a Taylor oven thermometer and went by that, and the times were spot on. Be advised that the Taylor ( 4 1/8 " x 3 1/4 " ) is bigger than I would have wanted for the space in the stove and is somewhat in the way, but I plan to replace it with the smaller Cooper Atkins model. The banana bread baked with the new thermometer was perfect at the recipe directed time and temp. We will be using this inside a big mess tent without a lot of wind, but the temperature will vary with the seasons which is why I used it outside at my house for the tests. Now to some of the complaints in the reviews about burning food. It is true that there are no preset temperature stops available, but I have found that after about a 30 minute preheat all you have to do is to keep an eye on the temp and make small adjustments to keep things under control. Also, after a long time it seems to stabilize and frequent adjustments are not needed. FYI-Camp Chef has introduced a new more powerful oven with temp presets, listed on their website, but I cannot find it listed for sale anywhere else just now. Also, the two racks inside can be flipped upside or down to give more or less room between them due to a slight bow in each rack as well as the different mounting slot heights. It is lightweight and the protective cover I bought has very convenient side carry handles and is nicely padded. All the piezo igniters on our stove work well on both the oven burner and top burners. I also found that with a 20 pound tank there was no output drop in the oven burners when the top surface burners were turned on. Last but not least, I have to report on Camp Chef's customer service. I purchased the before mentioned three burner grill from a source that was not Amazon due to an amazing close out price, and it was damaged during shipping. After contacting Camp Chef with a nice letter and photos, they very promptly sent replacements for the damaged parts and a free gift for my trouble. The unit would have been swapped out for a new one but it was no longer available from the place I purchased it from due to the closeout situation on this particular unit. A really pleasant and hassle free experience. To finalize, this is not a full size replacement for your home stove by any means, nor will it produce as much heat in very cold weather as your home oven, but is in my opinion a great value and very adequate little camp oven with adequate top burners. ... show more

  • Great camp oven!
Just got home from our first trip with our outdoor oven and I am more than happy with its performance. Once you learn where to place the dial for what Temps you want it works well. A bit of a learning curve as there is no thermostat to regulate the temp. Don't rely on the thermometer on the oven. Put in an oven thermometer. We made breakfast pizza, muffins, biscuits and apple turnovers this trip. Looking forward to many more years of using it! ... show more

  • Great concept. Fair application
I bought this so I could use the oven in the summer without having to heat up the whole house. Generally this is OK. The temperature control is not very good. The thermostat reads at the hottest setting almost all the time. I would imagine either the temperature is super hot all the time or the thermostat is not accurate. If you turn the temperature control knob all the way down, it goes to about 350. It takes a bit of time to figure out where the knob needs to be to get the desired temperature since there are no numbers on it like a traditional oven. They should change this. The description says it fits a 13X9 dish. It only fits one of my dishes. I assumed all 13X9's were the same size. I guess I was wrong. Now I need to measure a 13X9 at the store before I buy it. I carry this from my breezeway to the patio each time because there does not seem to be a cover for it so it does not get weathered. I looked at their website and can't find one. If I were them I'd raise the price 10-15$ and include a cover. I have a number of small cylinders and it works well with them. I just don't know how long I can cook on one of them so I bought a hose that allows me to use a 20 lb tank. I don't want to run out of propane in mid cook and not know it. It is a little difficult to know if the oven is lit. I hit the igniter a few times and then open the door and see if there is heat coming out. It does cook well. I have cooked all sorts of things in it and can take it places for holidays if someone needs additional oven space (think Thanksgiving. Turkey, Sweet Potatoes, Green bean casserole, Pies etc. can't fit in one oven at the same time). I think this was a pretty good investment and would be even better if I could get the temperature under control. ... show more
