Just cooked our first pizza and it was great. First time took me a minute to figure out the flame. Just takes a minute to get it rolling but once it did flames were flowing like they should. Cooked the pizza fast. Can’t wait to cook more stuff in the oven. Clams in a cast iron skillet are next.

I got this as birthday gift for family member. And, thus, I could also enjoy the output, food! And, Here are pros and cons if you are considering to buy Pros 1) for beginner, not easy to fire inside of such small metal box 2) you should buy special wood or, it would not work. Need to spend more money 3) sadly, the special/small wood does not get fire easily and we ended up using charcoal (double work) 4) disaster if your pizza dough stuck on the stone plate. whole thing will get burnt 5) someone who cooks CANNOT do anything else once you put the rough inside the metal container. Must keep eye on.. it burn quickly and cook unevenly otherwise cons 1) with such higher temperature than other oven, taste is very fresh and crispy crust 2) family fun and you can use your kids' little hand. they loves to make dough and watch how to cook 3) handy and locate in anywhere overall, I would buy and gift to someone else if there is a chance. This is astoundingly effective and the price is right. It is, as has been pointed out elsewhere, a pellet hog. So have a big supply ready at hand. Once this sucker is fired up and your stone is, what, 850° or something (my laser temperature gun only goes up to 800,840) you have to work fast. 30 seconds (open the door, quickly rotate the pizza, and close) 30 seconds more and you are, more or less, done. This pizza oven is quick, and so must you be when it comes to keeping the pellets topped up and tending to your pizza. But don't think it's too much work, it isn't and it's fun. There's a lot of nonsense as to what pellets are best but I don't think you can beat the 40lb bag for $13 or so from Costco. 100% hardwood. Your pizza is going to be in the oven for not much more than 60 to 90 seconds. My wife makes the (excellent) dough, I do all the rest. Remember to not put too many toppings on the pizza! That's about it. Easy to assemble, it makes a handsome addition to anyone's patio or backyard. Imho. Get yourself a stainless steel peel too. Semolina flour makes an excellent non stick base, assemble on the peel and just slide it in to your fiery oven with a deft little shake of the wrist. ... show more

Wife and I wanted a woodburning pizza oven. There is a popular version out there for twice the price but I must say, I think this is probably the better purchase, I mean, its a pizza oven. Personal learning curve using pellets for the first time. I also wish this came with a pizza spatula but I ordered a 12 inch one and it fits perfectly. Then I had to learn about feeding pellets into burner. By the fourth and last pizza I made that night I think I have technique down. Looking forward to next pizza day. Oh, and yeah, pizza was awsome! I did a 24 hour dough. Only took like 2 min to cook a pizza, just make sure you get that pizza stone HOT! ... show more

I absolutely love this pizza oven ! I've already made 5 pizza's and each one is progressively getting better and better the more I make where the saying practice makes perfect definitely holds true here. I will always make enough dough to make two pizzas and will freeze the other ball of dough when I'm in the mood to make a pie. The use of a fan trick works great and I will use a small computer fan set up on a few bricks where it is blowing from the back of the oven and this keeps a nice fire going. I like to get my oven really hot up to 550° and higher (I use an infrared thermometer I point on the stone) and wait till the fire dies down and place my pizza on the stone and bake for about 4 to 5 minutes and then add one small scoop (a scoop for protein drinks) of pellets to reginite the flame and bake for another 30 sec to a minute. I find this method provides a perfect crispy crust and reginiting the fire provides a nice balance of some char marks on the top and crust but always keep a close eye on things because this oven bakes fast and hot. After making 5 pizzas, this gem of an oven has already paid for itself and making pizza's is actually really fun and enjoyable! I also bought a pizza peel here on Amazon called Mooues which is 12" and this peel fits and works perfectly with my Bighorn oven. The last pizza I made was a white pizza which included homemade garlic oil, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, black olives,and mozzarella and ricotta cheese and it was absolutely delicious !! Just like anything, it takes a little trial and error and watching pizza making videos was also a big help but like I said the more pizza's you make the better you will become to being a master at making the perfect pizza... This thing is awesome for the price. Cooked pizzas for the whole family perfect. Hardest part was getting pellets lit to start. Gotta be patient and light the first tray to get good coals and preheat the oven. Then just add half a scoop before adding a new pizza. When you see flames coming out the pipe put a pizza in. Cook for 1 minute pull ot out and spin. Put it back in for 30 seconds to 1 minute depending on your likeness. Makes a great pie. ... show more
