I've been using this full-time in RV while I renovate my home. It's an excellent water softener and I definitely notice a difference. In terms of size, it's a little large/heavy, but would be fine secured in transit. The soft water makes a big difference in a small RV. It's much easier to keep everything from the shower to the dishwasher clean. If you attach a siphon valve to a foam sprayer, you can also use to wash your cars/RV without water spots... huge bonus. It's an investment, but RV components are expensive (especially if you have a high end RV). They won't last long if you run hard water through them repeatedly - this is the solution. ... show more

The reason I give it the best water filter period is because it is built with the same quality as the on to go filter but $100 less in cost same flushing way same opening however this one has stainless steel fittings. I wish I would’ve bought it years ago if you’re looking at buying a water softener by this brand it’s worth the money well worth the money ... show more

So I'm running this plus their dual filter system and it's a life changer. We have heavy calcium in our water here and it's no longer a concern. No more water spots or build up. Did a lot of research before going with the 10,000 grain. It's a good cost to size ratio. Almost purchased a 16,000 that wanted to charge me shipping as well. Definitely did not want to spend $290 on a softener, I spent about $214. While also having to make a stop at Walmart to purchase some brass elbows for $5ea. It fits well inside the basement of my RV without being too heavy. This is also paired with the 3 stage Clearsource filter and a single "sausage" filter. The water tastes like normal house tap now. I don't feel the need to go buy 5gal jugs anymore. The system came with a bottle of hard water test strip however they were either defective or I was doing something wrong. I had 2 cups of water, before and after which came out the same color. While unsure about the test strips this has helped greatly in easing the limescale/calcium build up in my RV, it's noticable in the shower. On the glass, the floor, and the shower head. Overall I don't think a much larger unit is needed even for a family. It takes about 4.5 standard Morton kitchen salt containers (the kind you use for baking) or 2 boxes if you can find them in iodized to recharge. I bought this water softener because it was affordable and was the fastest delivery. I live in a rv full time and found out the water where I live is very hard. Since the day I opened the box the cap leaked. After roughly a month the cap on top cracked completely all the way around. I have tried looking high and low to buy just the cap. Apparently it’s not a part sold separately. Instead you have to buy the whole inside unit for like 60$. Camco is going out of business so no one thru their customer service has helped me. I passed the window returning it thru Amazon. I’m just at loss. I honestly want my money back! This product I only have had for a month! I can’t fix it… and I can’t exchange it ... show more

You never know what the water will be like at campgrounds. This softener works great . It’s easy to transport and set up. Keeps the water spot down on the glass shower doors.
