Description

The California Air Tools light and quiet 1P1060SP portable air compressor is designed to be one of the quietest air compressors in the industry at only 56 db of sound. The 1.2 HP motor operates at only 1680 RPM, creating less noise and less wear. The updated in.Ip in. Ultra Quiet and oil-free motor is a single Piston pump design engineered for high performance and durability. The 1.0 GAL. Steel Air tank is lightweight (34 lbs.), making it very easy to transport. This compressor has an oil-free single Piston pump designed to have a life cycle before wear of 3000 Plus hours compared to other comparable air compressors with life cycles of 250 hours or less. The oil-free pump allows for use in a variety of different temperatures (cold) and uneven terrains. The 1P1060SP produces 1.2 CFM at 90 PSI, allowing you to use staple guns, brad nail guns, finish Nail guns, nail guns, airbrushes and blow guns. It's great for the garage and perfect for cleaning or inflating tires, beds, toys and sport balls. Its quiet design is ideal for anyone working inside where noise is a major issue.

My old porter cable pancake compressor was loud enough to wake the dead...to say nothing about the rest of the neighborhood. This guy has a much smaller tank, but is very quiet and perfect for my occasional needs...tire filling, nail guns, etc. It's way too small for running a spray gun, drill, sander, or anything else that needs a sustained, substantial air flow. If you have modest air needs and value your sanity, you should put this unit high on your list. If you need greater air volume, there are larger models from California Air Tools that are also quite quiet. ... show more

SO FAR SO GOOD We own a bicycle shop and previous air compressor was about three to four times as loud. Only 'complaint' at this time is that it isn't large enough capacity tank and seems to refill a lot. (But again its quiet when it does.) Maybe I don't have it set right so will see after a bit.

I used this compressor in an industrial setting where it was required to keep kicking on to top up the tank pressure every 12 minutes non-stop, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, without pause, forever. Requiring no maintenance (other than draining water from tank) it held up under these unrelenting conditions for 18 months before its pressure shutoff started to get sticky. For the price I am impressed. I replaced it with another, operated under the same never-ending duty-cycle and that is still running strong a year later. I just changed the duty cycle to "only" 14 hours a day, every day, so who knows how long it will last now... I can't review how loud it is because it is used in an area that is already loud, but this compressor is definitely a great little unit at a great price. ... show more

Super powerful for small jobs, not afraid of bigger jobs. Used for upholstery (hundreds of staples at a time). Used for adjusting car tires. Boy this thing is quiet. True, you are not going to forget it is there, but the average polite conversation isnt going to be disrupted by it either even it is sitting at your feet. FWIW, I use this at an SMD rework station for blow-off, drying, and powering small air tools where it has replaced my little DeWalt pancake unit. When the DeWalt kicked-on, I’d always flinch and often turn my head away from the noise. No more! This fact alone made this a worthwhile purchase for me. This compressor has a very pleasing “putt-putt-putt” sound, unlike the obnoxious “braaaaaap!!!” of other units, yet the air output is impressive for such a small unit. As other reviewers have mentioned, it only takes 60 seconds to fill from empty, and 15 seconds to refill itself to the cutoff pressure (~120 psi). Although my use case is pretty specific, I can definitely see where this unit would be a good fit for air brushing or powering a trim/brad nailer. And of course it will handle the usual tasks like inflating bike tires, car tires, athletic equipment, and levitating random sleeping cats (KIDDING!). Perhaps the biggest “like” (other than being so quiet) is the portability factor. Im guessing it is about 35-ish lbs which means even an over-the-hill duffer like me can pick it up and take it to where it is needed without needing medical attention afterwards. Its actually pretty well balanced. Hefting it up to the tailgate of my truck did not evoke any colorful language from my back. :) All in all this is a very impressive little compressor without any visible downsides. It is well-built, runs cool and is basically a steal at this price. If you need quiet, portable air in small quantities, you will love this thing. 5 stars. Update: July 19, 2020: When I went to throw the box away, something in the bottom rattled. Hmmm... Curious! Further investigation revealed an intake muffler. Wait... what? So I installed it. This means that when I wrote the review above, it DIDNT HAVE THE INTAKE SILENCER ON! After installing the silencer, its even quieter. You can listen to music or talk on the phone while this thing is running. Unreal! I use this compressor every day and it really deserves six stars. It sits beside my rework bench and just purrs along. Love it! ... show more
