Top Amazon Reviews

  • Couldn't pass this up!!!
Style: Compressor
Purchased from Amazon as a one day deal. After several months of research and even holding out past Black Friday, I am very pleased with this so far. $120 for the compressor was a steal. Product was delivered on time and in good condition as expected. Setup was fairly straightforward, needed to do some research regarding fittings myself. The compressor comes ready to go if you already have the correct fittings which I didn't have. It requires 1/4 NPT fittings and ended up getting middle of the road Husky accessory kit from HD. I also purchased a Husky 3/8 100ft PVC hose as well. The hose takes the 1/4 NPT fittings(most common) as well. After reading other reviews, I purchased yellow Teflon(for gases apparently) and have applied it to all the threads of the kit and even to the (J) part of the DeWalt compressor, as some have stated this part leaks. Mine did not, but figured I might as well to eliminate this in the future. Read the manual and started the compressor right up. It cut off at 165-170psi. Used it intially to fill tires on my vehicle. The compressor cut in at 130-135psi as expected. Fills up fast from empty and doesn't take long from 135psi obviously. I left it filled and after 6hrs or so, had lost about 15psi(150psi overall). It's my first compressor so I'm not sure if that amount of loss is normal, but this is why I chose to Teflon the threads (J) part of compressor. Have not tested if it is still losing that minimal amount of psi after the new Teflon, but will update when I do. It's recommended you drain after every use and that is pretty straight forward as well, just twist the release and let it run. Close the valve when it's done. As for noise, I have to say I'm very impressed. Using my Father's 20gal Craftsman in the past, this is definitely quieter, although that was a much larger tank, more Horsepower, and obviously for my serious applications. Planning to use this as a small shop compressor (tires, nail guns, etc.), I'm comfortable saying after all the reviews I've read, this will handle those tasks more than adequately. The build quality seems on par for it's price point. You obviously do pay a little bit more for the DeWalt name, but I must admit this compressor so far is worth it. For an extra $20 I like knowing that this comes from a very reputable company. Overall yes, I would recommend this to every DIYer/weekend warrior/hobbyist. It won't disappoint you as long you have reasonable expectations regarding its capabilities and limitations. ... show more

  • A Powerhouse for Your Workshop and home
Style: Compressor
As someone who's constantly tackling various projects around the house, I've gone through my fair share of tools, but the DEWALT 6 Gallon Compressor has quickly risen to the top of my favorites list. This unit, which comes in at a manageable 30 pounds, is a cinch to move around, making it incredibly convenient for both indoor and outdoor tasks. The compressor is designed to handle a variety of uses, from drilling and air brushing to spraying and nailing, without breaking a sweat. The 165 max PSI and 2.6 SCFM at 90 PSI pump mean you get long run times and quick recovery, which is crucial when you're in the middle of a project. Plus, the high-efficiency motor ensures that even in cold weather or when using an extension cord, start-up is hassle-free. I really appreciate the oil-free feature of this compressor, which equates to virtually no maintenance on my part—a huge plus for any busy DIYer. And with a 6-gallon capacity, I can work longer without having to stop and refill. Despite its power, the DEWALT compressor operates at a noise level of 75.5 dB, which is relatively quiet for such a robust tool. It's clear that DEWALT has put thought into the design, with a high flow regulator and couplers that maximize air tool performance, and a console cover that not only protects the controls but is also removable for easy repair. The addition of two universal couplers is fantastic for double teaming the fries and crumbs that fell between the seats in the car, as it can easily support two users. The ball drain valve is another feature I didn't know I needed, but it makes tank draining quick and effortless. Overall, the DEWALT 6 Gallon Compressor is a solid, reliable tool that's well-suited for anyone from the casual DIYer to the more serious home renovator. It's powerful, easy to use, and with DEWALT's reputation for durability, I expect to be using this compressor for many years to come. ... show more

  • High Quality Good Air Compressor
Style: Compressor
I've had a few air compressors over the years and used them for car repairs, furniture building, upholstery, household projects, etc. The Dewalt 6 gal 165 psi air compressor is a well-built, high quality, machine that will fulfill almost any need for the homeowner or contractor doing smaller projects. Actually, I could see a contractor using this compressor in the field when they need the compressor to be closer and smaller. I tested this compressor right out of the box. Since I was testing and needed a new compressor hose, I used a new hose to fill tires with a gauged tire inflation tool. Plus, I calibrated my compressor before use. When using this compressor with the gauge, it maintained consistent inflation pressure for quite a few minutes before kicking on. Plus, testing with different nailers, it performed well. One thing about this compressor is that it is not as loud as other compressors the same size and type, but it is still not quiet. Deal with it. Wear hearing protection. But, it is still relatively quieter than other models. I'm glad a spent a few more bucks. I got what I needed and it works well. Remember to calibrate your compressor! As always, I test products thoroughly before adding any review to Amazon. ... show more

  • Does the job
Style: Compressor
Very easy to set and read the controls. Very compact but does the job well. I wish it had wheels on the bottom, though. I release the air from the tank at the end of every use, and I want to warn you— it is very loud when you do that.

  • Recomended.
Style: Compressor
Very pleased. Many reviews seem to have problems with the quick connects on this compressor. I just bought Campbell Hausfeld MP2847 17-pc 1/4-in Air Tool And Accessory Kit and it worked great. I screwed on the female quick connect to Campbell Hausfeld PA1177 3/8-Inch x 25 PVC Air Hose and plugged it into the compressor and was ready to go. Don't forget to get some teflon sealing tape, EVERY connection leaks unless taped. The hose works fine, but I wished I paid a bit more for a rubber hose instead of PVC. If you buy your own quick connects make sure they are 1/4" and the industrial kind "I/M", not the automotive. The compressor keeps the tank in the 150-170 psi when I have the regulator at 50-100 psi where I use it most. The compressor seems to keep up pretty well, better than others I've used. I unplugged it for 24 hours to see if it was leaking and it was still reading the same 150 psi. I'm using it (so far) as a blowgun, inflating bike tires (presta and schrader) and car tires. It's particularly useful for inflating tubeless bike tires where you need a a high rate of airflow to get the tire to seat. Once you remove the presta valve core and turn up the compressor to 100 psi even my most difficult tire popped right on. The pressure gauge on the compressor matches very closely with other pressure gauges I have. My only downside so far is the 2 gauges and panel seem misaligned with the main body of the compressor. Seems entirely cosmetic though, everything seems to be working great. ... show more

Works great for it's size if you are doing indoor finishing work this one will get it done. Its not to heavy a bit loud but that's not an issue.
