You can stand next to this tool while running and have a normal volume conversation. Fast recycle time. Minimal assembly: put on the wheels and screw in the muffler. Compact and easy to move on the wheels. Looks solid and well made, time and use will tell. I got this to replace a generic oil pump compressor that finally crapped out -- I got the steel tank version and it's perfectly fine from a weight standpoint, and is almost the same physical size as my previous 6gal compressor. I've read different reviews were the reviewers were not that impressed by the noise level, but for me it was very noticeably more quiet. I do a lot of finishing work (built in cabinets, moldings, etc.) in my home and I had to run my previous compressor from the garage because my wife complained about the noise. Plus it was too noisy to even run in the garage late in the evening. This new California Air Tools compressor is quiet enough that I can run it anytime/anywhere without bothering anyone! Looks to be well made and was shipped double-boxed so it got to me without any shipping damage. Easy to get setup (just install air filter and wheels), and worked like a champ right out of the box. Size is 8gal, so it's too small for most air power tools like grinders and sanders, but does run my impact wrench ok. Also handles all my nailers and staplers without issue, and inflates car tires (of course). Can probably be used for small paint jobs like a fender or general touch-up, but if you want to paint cars or run demanding air tools, you should get a larger compressor. Best purchase from Amazon in the last 20y. The harbor freight 8gal compressor is $159 at 85dba. Scale is logarithmic. 25dba difference is 17x quieter. Price difference between $199 amazon price and harbor freight $159 not big enough to justify the Harbor Freight model. Quieter usually means will last longer. Less wear on the moving components. Refreshing to see an american company produce superior price/performance product. Much better than anything from home depot or harbor freight. Used for driving air hammer for bathroom tile and floor demolition. Faster and easier than hammering at tile. ... show more

Very quiet, works great. I’ve owned this compressor for 3 years. Something odd happened with it the other day. I found it continuously running. A brass plug on the check valve had blown off. I replaced the entire valve for 26 dollars. That being said, do not leave it on. It was hot from running continuously. Could have been a fire hazard.Not sure how long it had been running because it is so quiet. Also the 800 number to call kept dropping call.. ... show more
