Great product. I wish I had bought this many years ago. I will list some pros and cons; Pros: This thing is quiet. And I mean quiet. I had a 33 gallon Craftsman that was an absolute monster when it was on. Hearing protection was a must if I was standing next to it while it was filling up. This little California Air Tool compressor is an absolute dream. I am still in awe when it fills up. As for filling up, not bad at all. Takes next to no time to fill up the 8 gallon tank to pressure. I mainly use it for blowing out my lawn tractor air filter and topping off my tires now. I have used it once for a brad nailer and had no problems with maintaining pressure. Would I use it for an air chisel or air drill, probably not. Minor assembly is required out of the box. Pretty easy to put the wheels and air filter on. The fittings are tight. I filled tank to pressure and it has held constant pressure with no leakage yet. Cons: You can tell from the git go that this is a made in china product. It's the little things that really count. The weld seams around the tank look like they were done by a 3 year old. The mount for the rubber stop was welded off canter from the tank and the weld, even though it is holding well and does not seem to affect the quality of the product, is poorly done. The nice silver paint does seem to hide these imperfections, but I can only imagine the majority of the cost of this compressor is probably in the two stage pump and motor. That is fine as like I have just mentioned, this thing is one quiet air sucker. Overall rating of this product is a 5 so far. I will overlook the shoddy welding and rate this thing on performance. Have been searching for a larger air compressor for light home use. Air up my tires on my vehicles, bicycle and other inflatables (air mattress, pool toys, bicycle). I have an emergency 12V one for my car. Works fine, but slow. I have a 120V slime compatible compressor, works fine but also slow. Also, no reserve tank. Against my better judgement, bought a hot dog style one from the local big box store. Takes almost 5 minutes to fill up the 1 gal tank, and depletes quickly. Can't even fill up a tire from flat without recharging. Also wanted the ability to use a press on air chuck instead of a clamp on chuck. My secondary use is with a blow gun attachment for cleaning out electronics. I've seen the YouTube videos and the comparisons of the noise levels. And I thought, "This would be perfect"! Well, it is! Charges up my 8 gal tank fast, to 120psi. Standard interchangeable connections let me swap between my air tools. The ability to roll it around makes it nice and mobile. I would highly recommend this line of air compressors. Your ears will thank you. Only negative, and not much of one is the handle for rolling it around. It is straight up and down, instead of at an angle. This causes stubbed toes unless you are careful. It's also a very short handle. I'll probably fabricate a handle extension for it. Although once I place it near an outlet in the garage, I'll just sling a hose instead of rolling it around. It's well worth the modest extra price for the technology that makes it quiet. And as in other reviews, it will last much longer due to the lower RPM's using dual pistons. Check one out. I love it! ... show more

This was a replacement for an older compressor that was so noisy that OSHA required hearing protection inside. It was the sole reason for getting rid of it. This new unit was selected because of its claim to be unusually quiet, necessary for our indoor shop. How quiet is it? We had to stop talking to see if it was on. I kept the tank max compressed over night and unplugged. Didn’t leak an inch. Plenty of capacity to run pneumatic nailers, die grinder, and sprayer. I recommend it. ... show more

I got this to replace a generic oil pump compressor that finally crapped out -- I got the steel tank version and it's perfectly fine from a weight standpoint, and is almost the same physical size as my previous 6gal compressor. I've read different reviews were the reviewers were not that impressed by the noise level, but for me it was very noticeably more quiet. I do a lot of finishing work (built in cabinets, moldings, etc.) in my home and I had to run my previous compressor from the garage because my wife complained about the noise. Plus it was too noisy to even run in the garage late in the evening. This new California Air Tools compressor is quiet enough that I can run it anytime/anywhere without bothering anyone! Looks to be well made and was shipped double-boxed so it got to me without any shipping damage. Easy to get setup (just install air filter and wheels), and worked like a champ right out of the box. Size is 8gal, so it's too small for most air power tools like grinders and sanders, but does run my impact wrench ok. Also handles all my nailers and staplers without issue, and inflates car tires (of course). Can probably be used for small paint jobs like a fender or general touch-up, but if you want to paint cars or run demanding air tools, you should get a larger compressor. I purchased this particular compressor because of all the so quite reviews. I have to admit this is the most quite air compressor I have ever been around. I do a lot of remodel projects in our home, where we all live, so noise was a big factor in deciding on purchasing this one. It is quieter than our countertop icemaker for sure. The unit handles my framing nailer without any problems. So, many quick hit tools this machine will work well. But there are a few drawbacks that one should be aware of before purchasing. 1. For a small compressor it is super difficult to move around. The handle is low so if you try to lift with the handle and stand up you will be dragging it on the back because the wheels will be off the floor. So if you want to roll it you have to be hunched way over. I usually end up picking the thing up and carrying it. But this is difficult if it is plugged in and the air hose is extended. 2. ( See update below) I have not tried to apply wall texture with it, but I have attached the blow nozzle to dust off and the compressor does not have much capacity before it kicks on to recharge. The recharge time is a little slow as well. So, I am not sure this will work with a texture gun. Or I should say it may be real slow going spraying texture with this unit. 3. The gauges are in not easy to read places. It sits low to the ground so both gauges should face up. You about have to get on your knees to see the one gauge. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and I would purchase again. It is well built, quite and will work for most small applications for home improvement projects. If you do a lot that requires higher volume of air output I would look for a higher capacity unit with quicker recharging. UPDATE JUNE 2025 I finally was able to test the compressor out using it for an orange peel texture and here is what I learned. First, for orange peel texture you need about 90 psi in the hose. I set the hose pressure to 90 and turned on the air valve of the texture gun and the line pressure dropped 20 psi. I had to up the line pressure to 110 psi so I could maintain 90 psi when operating the tool. The most amazing thing is the air compressor was able to accomplish texturing my bathroom. It was slow. I did about a minute of spraying (4 to 5 passes on a wall), before turning the texture gun off and letting the compressor recharge (about 2 minutes to charge up). So, in about 20 minutes my bathroom was textured with a beautiful and even orange peel texture. I was impressed. I have been using this air compressor for quite awhile now and I have had zero issues. Only thing that bothered me so far is there was a clipped zip tie left inside the engine, like it was zip tied around the coils or something and someone forgot to remove it as they were building the motor. At any rate, I noticed it before I even put it together but the thought of it coming loose and binding the engine kinda bummed me out. Besides that, it's beyond quiet, fills quickly, empties easily, zero leaks (still new only used a couple times so far) and it has way more air pressure than I was even hoping for. Will use often to blow dust out of everything and air up tires obviously. Highly recommend it. Oh it's actually a lot lighter than I thought one that size would be too.
