🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

Customers express overall satisfaction with this compressor, highlighting its exceptionally quiet operation as a significant improvement from older models. While it's praised for being much quieter than expected, some users note that it can be noisier when specific components, like the fish tank hose, become loose. Its ability to support various tasks, including spray painting and running air tools without disturbing neighbors or housemates, is frequently commended. However, concerns about minor corrosion on fittings and the necessity of a cool-down period for continuous use are mentioned.

Pros

  • 🔇 Exceptionally quiet operation, making it suitable for residential areas and late-night work
  • 🔧 Supports a wide range of spray and air tool needs effectively
  • 👍 Recent improvements in quality, addressing past concerns raised by users
  • 🏠 Compact and efficient, fitting the needs of users with limited space

Cons

  • 🔊 Can become noisier if specific parts, like the included fish tank hoses, dislodge
  • 🛠 Minor corrosion on some metal parts, possibly due to storage conditions
  • ⏳ May require cool-down periods during extended use to prevent overheating

Should I Buy It?

If you're in need of a quiet, efficient compressor for home or light industrial use and are willing to address minor maintenance issues like loose parts or slight corrosion, this compressor comes highly recommended. Its quiet operation and quality improvements make it a worthy investment for those prioritizing a noiseless work environment.

  • Quiet efficiency and a quality build

There’s an inevitability when you start thinking you need an air compressor. And that inevitability is that very soon after you buy it, you realize you need a bigger one. This is my third compressor purchase in three years, and likely the best. The previous two compressors were too small and way too noisy. They worked, but those drawbacks were maddening. After some research, I decided on this compressor and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It’s quiet, has a large enough capacity (I’m exaggerating, of course I’d like to have a larger one), and so far appears to be very well built. The wheels, which are easy to install, are a must, as this California Air Tools product is on the weighty side at 82.5 pounds. The well designed handle and the chonky wheels make it easy to move around. Recommended for nailing, I’ve found that it also works well with my cut-off, staple, and impact driver tools. It runs on 110, has a 10-gallon tank, and is very, very quiet, thanks to a relatively slow rpm. ... show more

  • Perfect for anything around the house that's light duty
Style: Steel Tank, 110v
Finally realized I needed a small compressor for light duty projects. VERY quiet. It's great for inflating tires, blowing dirt off the garage floor and even short sessions with light duty pneumatic tools like a small die grinder. Even though the marketing states it's "powerful" it's power is only useful for quickly filling the tank. Setup is simple and the design well thought-out. I was impressed with the quick-release connectors, good quality intake filters, easy to reach/use the water drain, substantial wheels and rubber feet to minimize vibration. Any "oiless" compressor is NOT meant to run continuously; if it runs for 15 minutes straight, shut it off or it WILL be ruined. The compressor is aluminum and run continuously, it WILL warp, either seizing or losing lots of pressure. It amazes me how some reviewers abuse this little guy and then complain about it. For any decent spray gun, I use a cast iron 5hp two stage 80 gallon model with an oil/water trap, built to run nearly continuously. Anything less than that, this is one heck of a good buy. This is my second compressor from California Air, a much smaller one at a shed which has limited electrical power. They import good stuff. A great buy for many projects. ... show more

  • I needed something quiet and this for sure does the trick.
Style: Steel Tank, 110v
The reality of compressors is that they are loud. Even the quiet ones, however, some of my automotive repair jobs go late into the night, and I work during the day. I needed one quiet enough to where it could NOT be heard from ANY room next to the garage. This compressor makes the cut. I paired it with an Ingersoll rand 1,300 ft lb quiet impact air gun and couldn't be happier. I live in a 3 unit triplex built in the late 1970's. Each neighbor has 1 garage. There are 3 garages. Hopefully this makes sense: -My garage is right underneath the kitchen of my 1st upstairs neighbor. -My master bedroom is right next to my garage -My 2nd neighbor's master bedroom is right above my master bedroom. As you can see, a loud compressor is just asking for complaints..... I've had this for 30 days now, and it is most definitely quiet. I've specifically asked my neighbors if they could hear the compressor running, and they were unable to hear anything. I also can't hear anything from my master bedroom, and the compressor was about 3 feet from the wall. Technically you can hear it BARELY, but the room has to be pin drop silent, and you have to try HARD to hear it........you know, one of those "I think that's it" moments. So all in all this compressor makes the cut. I needed something quiet and this did it. Of course, loud air tools like an air hammer are not going to work during the late night hours no matter which air compressor you use, but this allows me to get more done during late night hours. ... show more

  • Ordered from California tools once, and this once was too many times
Style: Steel Tank, 110v
First, THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS WHATSOEVER. NONE. ZILCH. ZERO. That shouldn't be a problem though. I mean, after all, it's only a compressor. How much instruction can you need, right? But, for the price, IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE TO INCLUDE AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL. But, I figured I don't really need one. And I'll just call the company to see if they can send one if I do need it... or I can print it online if it's available. Second, the feet for the back support are missing. I figured I don't really need them but I'll just call the company and tell them it came without the feet, and see if they'll send them. See photos. Third, one of the fan grills on the side is broken out. A little more perturbed by now, but... I figured I didn't need that either as it would be to much of a hassle to ship it back for a cheap piece of plastic. See photos. So I put the wheels on it.... something they could have done with as hard as these wheels are, just a minor irritant... plugged it in and turned the switch to fire it up. That's where the fourth complaint starts. It isn't COMPRESSING AIR IN THE TANK. Tank pressure reads zero after several minutes of the motor running. I checked the manual drain cock on the bottom of the tank. It was closed, as I knew it would be because I had already checked it. Checked the automatic emergency overpressure valve. It was closed, and I pulled it to make sure it worked. It did. The little bit of air in the tank out ships with to keep condensation from building inside came out when I pulled it. There's a fitting pointing up on the left motor head, with a needle valve in it. It's leaking the air out through that. This is where AN INSTRUCTION MANUAL WOULD BE GOOD! TO KNOW WHAT THAT NEEDLE VALVE IS AND WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TOP DO! I WILL***NEVER*** ORDER ANOTHER THING GRIN CALIFORNIA AIR TOOLS. ... show more
