    • Good for kids, a lot of info on proper filming techniques
This is a good book. My nine year old can follow it. Its good for kids because it teachers them a lot about what they need to plan that kids don't think about. Having a plot / script, what order will you need to film scenes, proper lighting, microphones, video editing software, etc. The only dissapointed thing I see is that it figures a lot on movie making / interviewing and my son wants to record gaming and himself gaming and show both at once. Although I've figured out how to do this, it doesn't explain to a kid how to use a video editing program to show two videos at once. ... show more

My son loves this book. He dreams of being Dan TDM and while he might never reach those heights, who knows? This book is filled with projects that help children (and parents) record and upload their videos to YouTube. My son is 10 and he was impressed that the book didn't talk down to him and was very supportive of kids wanting to start on YouTube. Recommended. ... show more

    • This should be retitled - Making Movies For YouTube Using Apple iMovie
The book is good for what it is, but the title is misleading. If you want to get into making films, then this is a good starting book - oh, and if you have an Apple computer. The book walks you thought how to make a movie, and work with it on iMovie. If you just want to shoot videos on your own, and are NOT going to be using an Apple computer (and an Apple phone won't really suffice - you really need a full computer to do it), then there are better books out there. ... show more

I am middle-aged and new to YouTube. I am not the greatest photographer, videographer, or poster. I am college educated and this book did not “talk down” to the audience. The explanations, pictures, and glossary were exactly what I needed to start creating tutorial videos for YouTube. I especially appreciated the project on lighting and setting up a shot. Got this for my daughter to help her make YouTube videos and she's already filming. She loves it. It's full of all kinds of useful information. It's a thin book, but it's got lots of great tips, it's got colored illustrations that are helpful and it's easy to read. She's 11, and it's really helped her ... show more
