I am giving this a 5 star review,as I bought this for air rifle and pistol use only. In my basement 25foot range. Works great assembles fast- once you get the hang of the height adjustment,it works flawlessly. It is light and can be carried easily, but it is awkward to try to pack in a bag. But it can be done. I imagine it would work just as well for a 22 cal, 9mm. Pistol or carbine, there are rubber feet screwed in the foot bottoms that can be removed and replaced with spike anchors if you want extreme non slip for larger caliber weapons- firearms. If you,like me, are only using it for air guns than it beats a bag rest by a mile. It is easily positionable and we'll thought out. For the price and what I am using it for it gets 5 stars. Of course the disadvantage of this rest, is that it has to be used on a flat level surface, for which a shooting bag rest would be more suitable. But at this price- it leaves me enough $ to buy a bag rest as well ... show more

The rest is a little too flimsy. Vertical adjustment is very difficult with rifle weighing on it. The pistol rest is a nice bonus, but overall I would have been happier with more expensive/heavier unit. Using for .22 cal only, and would not recommend for high power.

Because the listing calls this a "Shooting Rest", I can understand why many have complained. It is very light weight. However, that's not what I purchased it for. My guns are strictly for home defense and don't expect I would even need to fire while using a rest. I purchased it to sight my guns. For this, it works great. Recently, I purchased an AR-15 rifle and wanted a stand to set it on for sighting, cleaning, and attaching various devices. I've tried several low priced and easy to store options from Amazon but keep finding that they aren't tall enough to raise my AR off of the table high enough to clear the pistol grip. Rather than purchasing a more expensive and harder to store stand, I have found that 2 of these Caldwell rests work perfectly - equally well as putting 2 V Yolks on mini tripods and cheaper. OK, maybe a little harder to store. I would highly recommend this item for these uses. I defer on it's utility for shooting to others. ... show more
