My $800 steelcase chair finally needed a new cylinder after 10 years of use. No way was I replacing, so I bought a spare to install once the original finally failed. Move forward a year, and I discovered that I ordered a replacement cylinder for a taller, stool type chair. This is the correct cylinder for a chair at typical desk height, and was a perfect fit. Taking out the old cylinder is simple but requires some muscle. Once the old one was out (the hardest part) this cylinder replacement was a perfect fit for my Steelcase Think chair and installs in minutes. It operates smoothly.

This fit my Steelcase Think chair perfectly. Sits a little bit higher off the ground than the original, which is a plus as bottom of old cylinder would sometimes hit things on floor. Old cylinder also creaked. No more creaks and stays up like it should. Very happy.

    • Fits exactly like the one that failed.
Works great. Skipping was a bit sketchy. Came by some off brand Chinese carrier, but it got here. The part fit my chair perfectly and it's back in order. I don't know how to tell what class the cylinder is, from what I saw there were no markings on it.

Discovered it was broken on arrival. Poor packaging considering the fragile plastic used and substantial weight of the cylinder. Couldn’t get a replacement from Amazon, only a refund.

    • Fits Steelcase Think Chair
I installed this in a Steelcase Think office chair. Fits and functions well. It doesn't appear to know that I've put on a few extra pounds. A lot of pounds. Good thing it's heavy duty because I'm putting it to work.

    • Works, but is longer than what came stock
The stock Herman Miller Mirra chair's actuator stopped actuating. I ordered this as a replacement, taking the old off was a PITA, but we got it done, putting the new one in was easy breezy after an hour of fight the old one out. The difference here is that the bottom of this actuator sits lower than the orgliginal manufacturer and is actually lower than the original wheels. Your wheels will not work with this actuator. This wasn't as big a deal for me as it can be for others. I took this opportunity to ALSO replace the standard wheels with the roller blade style wheels which sit an inch or so taller than the original manufacturer wheels. This extra heights is just enough to accommodate how much longer this actuator tube sits. I still scrape the tube ony floor / chair mat as I'm rolling around, but it *works* well enough. I wouldn't say I'm in love with this actuator and would have preferred OEM from the manufacturer, but the options for replacement are limited on a 14 year old office chair and helps extend the life of this chair for however much longer this one lasts. ... show more
