This is a review of the XENOHUASIS branded Bunkie Board. This one is a polypropylene board 0.4 inch thick rather than a 1 to 3 inch wood board.. It is folded at delievery and when unfolded provide rigid support directly under a mattress. This allows a mattress to lie flat with no sagging areas if the frame or box spring has lost support. Advantage: It overcomes broken springs and distributes weight more evenly. May be less noisy than a box spring. Makes worn parts of mattress more supportive and less likely to sag. Overcomes sagging in some wide gap slats. Disadvantage: Lacks the bounce and shock absorption of a box spring and does not lift bed height like a box spring does Variable based on preferance: Bunkie Board keeps bed height lower to ground which some like (others do not). Mattress will feel noticiably firmer. Some will like these above features but there are positives and negatives using a bunkie board in place of a mattress springs. ... show more

This is a useful option for adding support under a mattress. The inside is made from corrugated plastic sheeting, and the trifold design makes it easy to handle and position. When properly supported, it feels surprisingly rigid and solid. However, I could see it collapsing if it isn’t adequately supported underneath. The 52" x 74" size works for a full-size bed. I also like that the pad has a zippered outer covering, so the cover can be removed and washed. My only complaint is that there were no washing or care instructions included. If you already have good box springs, you probably don’t need something like this. However, if your existing box springs are getting weak, this could be a good way to provide some additional support for the mattress. ... show more
