USE: I purchased this Cabinet to replace an old buffet cabinet I had in my kitchen. I wanted to have a visible space where I can store my glassware. Sometimes I forget what I have if I can’t see it. And I also wanted to have storage to put the kitchenware that I use once in a while and some teaching books I use often with my kids. This fit the bill perfectly. PROS: I love that the wood is solid and not compressed. The quality is definitely worth the money. We got three separate boxes and it took my husband, who has a lot of experience in construction, about 3-4 hours to unpack and put it together. He says it was packed very well and none of the pieces were damaged. CONS: The only problem we encountered was that one of the holes did not align well with the screw part that was supposed to go in so my husband had to sand down a piece of a bottom shelf to make it for properly. Thankfully since it was the bottom shelf and another piece goes over it, it worked out fine. The other unanticipated problem is that the drawers are very tiny. And while I can fit everything else from my old buffet in, I had to find room somewhere else for the things I had in the drawers. You cannot even fit a stack of printer paper in them. I’m attaching pictures with the measuring tape so you can see the measurements of the inside more or less. There is a about an inch of lip underneath each shelf. CONCLUSION: What I would say is that if you’re getting this piece of furniture, make sure that you’re skilled and willing to put in the time to assemble it or get someone to do it for you. It’s beautiful but it takes time. And don’t plan on storing much in the drawers. Otherwise it’s great. ... show more

    • Good material and looks, bad QA
I'm really torn on this product. The look of the final product and quality of the wood is great. However the QA and machining of the individual pieces is not so great. I had 1 piece broken, 1 piece missing, and 2 pieces that were not properly finished. The holes were misaligned by 1 inch on one piece and they weren't even drilled in on another. Luckily the HomeStyles website had a fairly straight forward form to request replacement parts. I'm sure others will need it. it is available here: http://www.homestyles-furniture.com/part_order_form.php I got a reply within the next business and parts were shipped without any hassle, however they were shipped ground. I had a half assembled product in my place for 2 weeks while waiting. Once I finally got everything and assembled it, it looked great. Assembly surely wasn't as easy as IKEA, but it also feels and looks way better than an IKEA product. It will very much help to have a partner for assembly. One other minor complaint is that the packing material they used was a very strong smelling and easy shedding variant of styrofoam. I suggest opening it outdoors or somewhere else easy to clean so you get less of this stuff in your house. I had to use a combination of an air blower, dust buster, and damp washcloth along all surfaces to get it all off and it still smelled heavily of the stuff for another two weeks. A month later the smell is basically gone. If you go by the finished product it is a great buy for the money, but make sure you can deal with possibly not having it usable until a month after ordering and airing out the smell. If you are paying someone else to assemble it clearly negotiate pricing if something is wrong with the product and they need more parts before agreeing to anything, as there is a good chance that will happen. ... show more

    • Missing Major Part - Do Not Recommend
This would be nice except for the fact it is missing the "counter top" part. The product comes in two boxes. The first box arrived and as we started putting it together, we noticed we only had parts for the upper hutch. I contacted Amazon who made arrangements to send out an all new unit. The next day the lower part of the unit arrived. I put that together 2 days later only to find there wasn't the cherry wood counter top included. It's completely built now so I don't want to take it apart to return it. I'm stuck creating a counter top for it. I do not recommend this item and am very disappointed. ... show more

This is a two person job if you want to get it done in a timely manner. One person could manage, but sheesh! Looks great, but there was fiber glass everywhere!
