  • THE SKY IS THE LIMIT
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
Bought this printer to replace a (fast) digital copier. Just reached my first 10.000 copies in a few weeks. Toner cartridges last indeed more or less 3000 copies. Love the duplex scanning and duplex printing which saves me a lot of time. Much faster than my other Brother (color)printers. This MFC-L2750DW is meant for B&W only. Output is good. So far no issues. Would have loved a larger paper tray than this one that contains max 250 sheets. Very happy with my Brother family. UPDATE AUGUS 2023 In November 2022 I bought a MFCL2750DW to replace my malfunctioning digital copier. The first impresions of the Brother printer were so good, that I also left behind my old Canon B&W copier. In January 2023 I bought my second MFCL2750DW. Isn’t that strange? Let me explain why I did this. One of the main reasons to buy this Brother B&W printer was the speed. Two thousand prints per hour is very useful since I do a lot of books for educational purposes. In the beginning I had my doubts about the small paper tray(250 sheets), but I learned that putting in some 200 sheets was a piece of cake and made it possible to continue printing for hours without any delay. What I also learned that cleaning the corona wires from time to time must not be forgotten. The printer doesn’t give a warning about that. Warnings are given when you run out of ink or when the drum has to be changed. Both are very simple actions to do. Another reason to buy this printer was the possiblity of two sided scanning. After having scanned thousands of papers I really can’t complain. When there was an issue, it had to do with very old sheets of paper, sometimes even slightly bent because of use of paperclips for months. But working with normal nice sheets of paper, I never had an issue. But why the second printer? First of all, living on a small island in the Caribbean without local technical support gives you more peace of mind to have a “spare” in reserve when something goes wrong, for even schools can’t wait for weeks when you are in trouble. But the main reason was getting a better workflow. Two sided printing is not even half the speed of one sided printing. So I decided to use one printer for the quick one sided printing and the other for two sided and printing 160 gram covers for the books. Last month was the period for the beginning of the new schoolyear and as always the busiest time of the year. To be more concrete: the page counter of the first printer shows 173 thousand and the other one 51 thousand. More than 120 K prints were done in the last three weeks. That’s what I mean with: the sky is the limit with this superb printer. Did nothing go wrong? I think I had all together 3-4 times a paper jam. Very easy to solve. Only once I had some trouble with a toner cartridge. To spread the toner better I had slightly shaken the cartridge, but after that the printer said: No toner. It was a full cartridge. Re-installing the cartridge didn’t help. But with assistance of the excellent Brother Service I could solve that problem: just triggering the lip on the right side of the cartridge did the job. What about the future? My plans for next school year is to work with 3 printers: the first for one sided printing and the others for two sided printing. So my total printing speed will be 4000 sheets per hour. Did I say that I am very pleased with my printers? No, I love my Brothers! ... show more

  • Very Nice Muti-Function Printer
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
This nice little unit has completely met my expectations. Printing and scanning produce very nice looking documents. I also like the profile of this printer, as it is not as wide and so fits better on the small cabinet that it rests on than did my previous Canon printer. The trade off is that it is slightly taller and therefore somewhat less convenient when opening the lid while sitting down. The LCD screen makes it easy to check the toner level and WiFI connectivity among other things. However, I must say that it was a bit tedious entering a long WiFi password on such a tiny touch screen, but that is a one-time task. The long hold required when pressing the power button also took some getting used to, but that is a minor beef. The scanning function worked right out of the box with Debian running on my computer. However, I was unable to set up driverless printing on the latest Debian edition, so it was necessary to install the appropriate driver from the Brother website, which I was hoping to not have to do. After installing the driver, the operating system did its thing and I was able to use the unit both wirelessly and through USB for both printing and scanning without any issues. Oddly I had no trouble setting up driverless printing on my Debian 11 laptop over WiFi. My research led me to believe that this is because the older Linux version has the legacy libraries that this printer requires (and which is contained in the manufacturer's driver available on their website). The installation CD that comes with the unit will only work on Windows so I went ahead and installed the software on a Windows 11 drive. It provides additional preferences when doing a print job and it comes with useful scanning software, although for my purposes the native software that comes with most modern Linux systems is sufficient. ... show more

  • Easy setup and printing from mobile devices.
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
Day 1, Hour 1: was able to print from both Android and iPhones without installing any software or apps, right out of the box. Just added power, paper, and the starter toner. The image quality did not wow me but I was printing a mobile-formatted image. When I print word documents or text, I can tell the quality is there since the letters are crisp and precise. The unit does draw a lot of power hence the lights in my home office flickered after turning it on or initiating a print; so I will probably be upping the breaker for that room. If or when I have problems I will update here but I don't expect to after my first impressions. Primary use: infrequent document printing for work-from-home, printing concert or travel tickets, wife prints recipes and makes copies. Perfect for what we use it for. 1 week update: lots of cool features built in that I didn't expect. Includesto several web/cloud connected apps like Dropbox. When scanning documents, I can have then sent directly to email or phone. When scanning documents, they have built in OCR, aka they are scanned as a words instead of just a document. There is ID copying feature for including a scan of both ID sides on a single page. Automatic Amazon dash toner replacement required additional setup initiated by googling brother dash replacement and following the instructions on the brother website (a 10 min process completed successfully on first attempt). All of this is being done after a week and I still haven't hooked it up to my office computer; thus I can comfortably recommend this printer as a standalone multifunction workstation with mobile connectivity. 7 year update (2026): this thing is still our one and only printer. We have never had issues. ... show more

  • Scanning setup was tedious but smooth sailing since
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
Originally I just had an Epson inkjet all-in-one. But its ink always dried out and clogged, so I got a Brother laser printer and kept using the Epson for scanning. But eventually the Epson began getting scanning errors, so I needed a replacement for it. This new Brother all-in-one seemed like a way to replace both machines with one and save some desk space. Overall I'm please with it. Setting it up with my Mac was a mixed bag. The printing part was super easy, but configuring it to scan how I wanted was more work. Most stuff went as expected, but compared to my Epson all-in-one it was just tedious with more screens to go through and lots of unclear language. About the only thing that was simpler compared to the Epson was scan to email - all Brother needed was the recipient's name and email address and it was good to go (rather than a bunch of server connection details). I also installed the Brother scanning software on my Mac and that went fairly smoothly as well, but once again there was some unclear language on various screens. But once I got it all set up, it is working smoothly. Printing is fast, scanning to email is quick using the shortcuts I created on the printer's menu (but unfortunately you can't edit them or rearrange them). The ADF is fast and hasn't jammed so far. The Mac software is straightforward and easy to use for scanning. Scanning quality is fine for documents, but photos have slightly oversaturated colors. Overall I would say this is a great machine if your needs are mostly for printing and scanning documents, plus occasional photo scanning. P. S. The machine's web interface doesn't do much more than the minimum - and like the software and the menus, could use some revisions to the text to make things clearer. ... show more

  • Easy set up.
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
This is used for a home application and we don't do a lot of printing. It replaced a Brother printer that had been sunsetted due to a lack of support and drivers by Brother for the newest MacOSX. The control screen is in color and bright...easy to read in any light conditions. Setup was straight forward and connecting two desktops, two iPhones and two iPads was simple. The printer supports AirPrint so you can print from almost any Apple device. Brother offers a "pay for print" monthly option in lieu of paying for your refills of toner. The monthly charge is based on the number of pages you estimate you will print in a month. There is a fixed fee for a certain number of pages. I decided to try it, particularly since they were offering it free for 90 days and 1,000 bonus pages....seemed like a no brainer. The quality and speed of printing is fine and the duplex printing is a big plus. So far, it has performed flawlessly. ... show more

  • Easy Setup, Nice Feature Set for Pricepoint
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
I did a lot of searching through different Products and Reviews before deciding on this All in One Printer Scanner. I was tired of the home inkjet all in ones failing, seemingly right after I bought new Ink, and of course the models available after they die use a different ink cartridge. I wanted a dual sided scanner for scanning in Bills, Financial Statements, and other documents. This models use of a second scanner to scan both sides at once should hopefully be a good solution compared to pulling the page back through a second time. Its much faster scanning this way for large double sided documents. The ADF scanner function is surprising loud, its not ridiculous, just not sure why its as loud as it is. The Scanner settings leave a lot to be desired for Photo's but my primary use is for documents. It comes with a document management software that includes a PDF reader that allows you to delete and insert pages so you can re-scan a single bad page instead of re-scanning an entire document if a page doesn't scan clearly the first time. Huge bonus that will save some usage on the scanner and help it last longer. As for printing, it wakes up fast, and prints are clear, even with the ECO mode enabled. The small toner cost though I haven't purchased one yet is comparable to replacing the ink cartridges in an Ink Jet and are listed to provide an average of 1200 pages. So much cheaper per page. Hopefully I don't have to come back and edit this review and down vote for durability, but in the short period of time I have had it it seams well built and more solid than previous Ink Jets I have had, though Comparing an InkJet to a LaserJet is not really a fair comparison. ... show more

  • Draws too much power on warm-up. Trips the circuit breaker nearly every time it’s used.
Style: New Model: MFCL2750DW
I’m a very light user of my home office printer nowadays so I can’t really comment on all the features and performance of this printer in that regard. I had a great experience with my Brother MFC-4500 ML multifunction laser printer that I bought in the early 1990’s and used extensively for well over 10 years with no issues. I would probably still be using it if someone made a decent USB to parallel printer port device that supported all the MFC’s functions. That outstanding performance of my trusty old Brother MFC-4500 is what led me to buy another Brother printer when I decided to get a new multifunction laser printer with WiFi and all the other modern features. Unfortunately, this printer has turned out to be a huge disappointment. I’m on the verge of giving it away to a charity and buying a different brand. The problem is that the printer draws too much current when it’s first turned on, or awoken from sleep, with a print job. It trips the circuit breaker almost every time it’s used. It’s a major hassle to have to run down to the basement to reset the breaker every time I use it. To make matters worse, this breaker is physically connected to another breaker that covers some items that all have to be manually reset when the power is switched off, like clocks and so forth. The circuit is 15 amps and the printer states that it uses 9.2 amps on the information label on the back, and the manual. Even if this printer is the only thing on the entire circuit, it still trips the breaker. Obviously the printer draws more than the 9.2 amps claimed in the specs. I live in a brand new, upper middle class house, built by a reputable builder in the Chicago suburbs. I’ve had the electrician check out the circuit in question, and in fact all of the circuits, under the new house warranty and it all checked out fine. I watched him do it and although I’m no expert he showed me and explained what he was doing as he did it. One interesting thing I learned is that breakers are designed to trip at 80% of their rated value. Thus a 15 amp breaker should trip when 12 or more amps are passed thru it. Thus, obviously, this Brother laser printer draws 12 or more amps when it’s first warming up. Afterward, once it’s warmed up, it draws less than 12 amps. This printer is useless to anyone who wants to use it on a circuit rated at 15 amps or less. Unfortunately all of the plugs in my home office, and most of my house, are on 15 amp circuits so the printer is useless to me as a home office printer. The only circuits with higher ratings are those used for areas with appliances, such the as kitchen, air handler and A/C system etc. Brother really needs to offer something to end users to correct this issue. This is unacceptable for a home office printer. ... show more
