This pop-open brooder works great and is very easy to set up. It literally pops open in seconds, which makes it really convenient to use. I like using it for short trips out to the backyard so the chicks can get some sunshine. I don’t leave them unattended since it isn’t predator-proof, but it’s perfect for supervised outdoor time. I unzip one side so they can run in and out onto the grass and then back into the brooder. It also works really well indoors as an extra daytime space. I use a chick heat plate and can easily zip the brooder around the cord. I don’t think it would work as well with a heat lamp, but with a heat plate it works perfectly. It’s a nice size and the nylon fabric is sturdier than I expected. I put pee pads on the bottom which makes cleanup quick and easy. Overall, it’s a great value for the money and very simple to use. If you’re using a heat plate and have a safe area, you could probably even keep chicks in it full time. ... show more

Love this. It was super easy to set up and it is easy to clean. With a removable mat in the bottom clean up is quick. My favorite part is the zipper top it keeps the chicks where their supposed to be. It has plenty of space can fit about 20 baby chicks if not more. The quality sames to be really good for the price. I was walking through tractor supply past couple weeks and my wife has been all doe eyeing me about the little chicks and I told her we didn't have a place to put the little chicks... It appears I don't have that excuse any longer haha. I'm impressed with the quality this brooder doesn't seem super thin or anything. It appears it'll be able to keep the chicks in without an issue until they are bigger and need something larger. I cannot imagine that cleaning is an issue if you deep bed it with straw or maybe even some old dry leaves (my plan) that people seem to leave out during the fall in bags. I'm always finding reasons to collect those (ty ppls lol). I will say there could be an issue with safety if you use things that lean against the brooder for the purpose of heating the chicks. I would lean towards a heating plate. I've read and seen on YT that is a bit more of a favorite for the birds and safer as they cannot cause a fire unlike the older heat lamps. I'm all for instructions and I'd say keep them for folding it up. However, set up they weren't needed it just pops up all plug and play like. It's a really decent size and from what I've been able to tell I'd say it has great value for what you're paying. I did have a zipper snag a little but the moment I rubbed a little candle wax on it. It glides like butter. This is a normal zipper issue and doesn't matter which kind you get on any product. I like this product and I would suggest it. Now I just need to figure out how to train the little guys to drink from a horizontal nipples. Btw if you get those I read the ones with the little dribble cups with the nipples are the newest and best! Enjoy! ... show more

I got this pop-up brooder to help brood about a dozen chicks this season and I have to say I’m impressed with how big it is compared to similarly priced brooders made from wood or other materials. Assembly was very quick and the instruction card is easy to follow. It seems of reasonable quality and all of the stitching on my brooder is good and all the flexible metal rods are fully covered in fabric. No tears or frays out of the bag. I will say it is of similar construction to other pop-up style items in that the material is very thin and eventually will snag on something and rip or start to come off the metal rods. I would expect this to last for one or two seasons before getting torn or damaged by juvenile birds. Remember too that it’s just a thin pad at the bottom so any large spills are going to soak around it and get to you carpet or table or wherever you’re keeping it, and baby chicks are notoriously messy. I really like the fully zippable enclosure to help keep the animals safe and the brooder dust contained. Cleanup isn’t bad but again it’s made of just thin nylon type mesh tent material so whatever gets in it will immediately soak in and stain. I love that it folds back up to such a small package when you’re done with it. Overall it seems functional, pretty durable, and should last for a couple years with normal use. That’s a pretty good value when compared with bulky heavy alternatives that have to be stored when not in use. ... show more
