Description

The ChickSafe Advance automatic chicken coop door opener is a tough and reliable system for automatically opening your coop door in the morning and closing it in the evening as light levels fall, keeping your birds save and giving you peace of mind. Running on only 4 x AA batteries (included), the ChickSafe Advance hen house door opener is easy to fit to any chicken coop with a vertical sliding (or hinged) door. The all-in-one design makes setting up a breeze - no messy wiring or limit switches to attach to your coop. Simply secure the control box to the front of your coop with the 2 screws provided, tie the lifting cord to your existing door and you’re away. No manual calibration is necessary; the ChickSafe Advance automatically adjusts to the height of your poultry house door. The ChickSafe Advance features a novel mechanism with only one moving part and no mechanical switches for ultimate reliability. Weatherproof and made from UV resistant materials it is designed to work in extreme conditions and can lower and raise a door weighing up to 8 Lbs. It features an 'auto-stop' if a chicken is obstructing the door so you can relax in the knowledge that your hens will be safely looked after. Because the ChickSafe work by detecting light levels and look for slow changes in light they aren't affected by car headlights at night. For your convenience the sensitivity of the falling light level is adjustable and an indicator shows that the door is open, closed if the batteries are low or if there's a fault. The ChickSafe Advance has a fully digital menu driven controls with a programmable real-time clock timer and full manual door control allowing the user to open or close the door at a set time and to override the automatic system. By a simple press of a button the user can at any time either open or close the door or hold it in its current position until the override is switched off - handy if trying to isolate birds in the hen house. The ChickSafe Advance also comes with a unique weekend 'lie-in' feature which allows the user to delay the opening of the door in the morning on 2 days out of 7 to a selected time which can be used to keep the birds contained for longer at weekends. Like all Brinsea products it comes with a 3-year .

  • Peace of mind worth the cost.
Style: Light Sensor Pattern Name: Door Opener Only
The media could not be loaded. This spring I decided to get chickens for the first time so that meant building a whole new coop. I researched all kinds of different safety and convenience options and one I decided on was an automatic coop door. I want to be able to go out of town for a few days at a time and still know that the ladies will be safely tucked in at night. This door opener has fit the bill nicely and has worked perfectly since it was installed mid June. It was easy to install and set up and I didn't need to change any of the preinstalled settings on it. It opens shortly after dawn and closes just after sunset. I used aluminum c channel from Home Depot for the rails and a piece of 14 gauge sheet steel for the door. The opener handles it perfectly. I did put a wooden strip across the bottom of the door so no nasty critters could get little fingers underneath it and lift it up. I'm definitely glad I added this to my coop. It is somewhat expensive but for the peace of mind it brings it's well worth it. I'm including a video of the door opening in the morning with this review. I will also review the cameras I have set up in my coop which are: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0886GSQZB?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title ... show more

  • Piece of crap
Style: Light Sensor & Timer Pattern Name: Door Opener Only
I have ordered this item twice. The first time I thought it was just a system malfunction the second time I purchased this automatic door opener enclosure. It would work pretty well overall, but I continue to have more difficulties with it as it wouldn’t respond to opening and closing manually.

  • Easy set up, Light Sensor is useless
Style: Light Sensor Pattern Name: Door Opener Only
Purchased this after reading the one review. Also seeing that Tractor Supply sells this brand and I don't need anything other than the basic model for my chicken coop. I would just like the door to be opened & closed at sun up and sun down when I am out of town for the weekend. Pros: This was a really easy set up. We went to the local hardware store and used our current door that we have since it was under the 8lb limit. With some alterations and side rails, we had this installed fairly quickly. We were a bit confused as when you set it up and install the batteries the instructions state that the door will close completely and then open up once to measure the distance. However, we attempted this multiple times not once did this happen. After resetting the door by removing the batteries for a couple of minutes and replacing them the door would drop a couple of inches and open back up. Confused, we hoped for the best and left it. We watched and made sure the door closed safely that night and opened the following morning. It has worked since and has not had a problem opening and closing. Cons: The instructions are very vague. While the set up is easy, there instructions for adjusting the light sensor are awful. First the tiny screw to find the light sensor is hard to find. After you find this screw, it is difficult to determine where you are turning and what direction you turned it in the past. We found it did not matter which way we turned the light sensor (light or dark) from the instructions. It made no difference as to when the door opened and closed. The door opens fairly late in the morning (around 9:30) and when it is pitch black outside(10pm). Overall: We are returning this opener. The light sensor is not working for us. We have predators that pick off our hens as the sun sets and need them safely locked up before it is pitch black outside. We also need a unit that will open a little earlier in the morning as we all know chickens love the early mornings. I found myself running outside and letting the chickens out the side door most mornings and having to go and closing it at night. This product just didn't work for us. ... show more

  • Reliable and well-supported solution for chicken coop door operation
Style: Light Sensor & Timer Pattern Name: Door Opener with Door
Very easy to install, the directions are precise and clear. We knew we needed to do a little preliminary work on one side of the existing door opening since it was bowed out, and we had to add a stop at the bottom of the door opening. Programming was simple, and a bonus is the fact that the door stops during the opening process when my girls are impatient. They pushed through before it was fully open, it paused a little longer and then resumed opening fully. Wanted to try this for some time, but the coop run has a roof over the door so thought it would need set open/close times rather than relying daylight. With closing choices of manual, time, light and light+time, I can try different combinations and if the light setting closes too soon, can go with time. This is my first Brinsea product, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more from them. ... show more
