  • Works Well
Really helped to prep the yard for seed, very easy to put together and use. One suggestion, drive slow while on the wheels to reduce hopping.

  • Solid, well built aerator
The media could not be loaded. This Brinly spike aerator is solidly built and should last for years. All the parts fit well. I assembled the aerator on my dining room table since our Michigan winter was going to keep me inside this day. Brinly has an excellent You Tube video that made assembly easy. You do want to wear leather gloves when you insert the spikes. I needed 120 pounds of weight in the tray to get the spikes to go to their deepest penetration. The aerator worked like a charm. ... show more

  • Good overall, but some issues
Definitely a heavy duty product that should last a long time. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. It is sharp, so wear gloves. Only complaints I have are that the holes for straps are poorly designed to actually hold a strap and the bolts holding the tow bar on do not lock well. Despite tightening as much as possible, one bolt came off in less than an hour and the second was very loose. Replaced it with a better locking nut. ... show more

  • Looks reliable
Based on what I see it should do the job for what it is designed to do. It was easy to put together following the instructions, all parts came with the unit. I would not however recommend any children or pets around this because it could very easily impale a dog or child or even yourself if you drop it while you're picking it up for any reason. All the spike blades are razor Sharp which I'm sure will dull after a few times of being used which would be fine with me or still do the job. ... show more

  • Small & Maneuverable, Important to Run It Horizontally
Definitely recommend getting this version with transportation wheels. The tines are very sturdy and do a good job penetrating the ground. It's important that it sits approximately horizontal when on the wheels when connected to your mower, because if not, the unit leans backwards significantly. I had 2 layers of CMU blocks on it and had filled the voids with stone to get to the maximum capacity. I ran into a problem when backing up the unit into a storage space and the bottom tray buckled because it was leaning back badly. I called Brinly and they sent me a replacement tray. I straightened the original tray and mounted it upside down under the replacement tray to strengthen it. I then bought a 3" drop adapter so that the unit is now level when on the wheels and have not had a problem with backing it into place. It tows easily. An improvement would be to provide an angled arm for lowering the tines so the arm doesn't drag on the ground. ... show more

  • Works great!
Got this to keep the grass looking nice. Easy to put together. Wheels make it easier to move from the garage to the grass. Added cement blocks to add weight. It also pulls rocks out of the ground, making it a advantage for grass to grow in its place.

  • Be Careful in Assembly
Putting the tines on the aerator was both tricky and risky. This item should be delivered with the tines installed. Packaging could have been better as my box was pretty banged up. I checking promptly to make sure that parts were not missing. I'd opt for a plug spreader next time.
