I bought the BOSS Audio SLIM8 because I thought, “Hey, a little bass in the golf cart would be fun.” What I did not think was, “This will turn my peaceful neighborhood into the opening scene of Fast & Furious: Retirement Community Drift.” Installation was easy. Too easy. Suspiciously easy. Like the subwoofer wanted to cause problems. The first time I fired it up, the cart vibrated like it was trying to achieve liftoff. A squirrel fell out of a tree. My dog refused to get in with me ever again. The cupholders rattled so hard they achieved a new harmonic frequency. And the neighbors? Let’s just say they now look at me the way people look at someone who revs a straight‑piped Harley at 6 a.m. I used to wave at them. Now they wave back… but with fewer fingers. But the bass? Oh, the bass is glorious. It’s tight, punchy, and somehow makes a golf cart feel like a nightclub on wheels. I can’t explain it. I don’t understand it. I just know that when the beat drops, so does the neighborhood property value. Pros: • Turns a golf cart into a rolling subwoofer • Surprisingly powerful for a slim unit • Makes you feel cooler than you actually are Cons: • HOA now has a dedicated “Patrick Clause” • Birds flee when you turn it on • Neighbors plotting your downfall Final Verdict: If you want clean, deep bass in a tiny space — and you’re okay with becoming the local menace — the SLIM8 is perfect. I use it on the back of my side-by-side UTV and often you won't notice the deepness of the bass when driving (you get mostly highs out of the tweeters over the sound of the motor), but when you are sitting or stopped and you switch between having the subwoofer on and not it is very noticeable. It just adds some fullness to the sound it didn't have before. It does not bump like a 10" in a sealed box - this is far too slim to get great resonation, but it does add some nice bump. Might feel it more under the seat or bolted to the ceiling.

The media could not be loaded. Spent a whole lot of time getting all the wires "professionally" installed from the head unit and battery to the rear of my CUV via the SW output without being able to see them or causing line interference as well as having the bass knob directly below my steering wheel. Hooked this powered sub up correctly to a measly 80w RMS head unit and set the gain to a bare minimum with the LPF set at around 70 hz and the bass boost up to max (the entire purpose of the woofer) Turned the music on with the EQ set to Jazz and sub @ 160 hz and this unit added a decent amount of CLEAN bass to my Boss CHAoS 6x9 door set up. Deep notes without rattling my entire vehicle. I was impressed and very happy until about 45 minutes of driving playing Spotify and the entire unit cooked. Distortion, low sound and the protect light illuminated at every bass hit. A long with that the unit itself was very warm even though it was getting the correct amount of violate from both the power line and the remote turn-on wire. Never even got my volume up all the way. Did like the size, weight and installation ease but if it's not going to function correctly it's not a good product.

This powered subwoofer system is a bit of a letdown. I didn't expect too much for the price, however, it's replacing a blown chinese knockoff piece of garbage that had less claimed power (and you know how much the bogus chinese companies love to inflate their claims) so i expect at least on-par performance. This has none of that. Sure, it DOES increase bass and DOES supplement your speakers to a degree, but it's so very minor that its hardly an achievement. A decent set of stock speakers will blow this sub out of the water. I dont understand why exactly becuase when you're fiddling with the sub and are directly next to it, it puts out decent bass. But once you climb back into the driver seat and are a few feet away, the additional audio is almost non-existant. I have this in a crew cab silverado, and i hoped that even a small sub would be noticable in such an enclosed space. With this under the rear seat, i was wrong. I'm going to move it up and place it inside the center console, as it will fit there, and i'm hoping that helps. All in all, it DOES work, but its pretty disappointing. I wish I had spent the extra money and gotten the 10" version, though i worry that I would have been disappointed with that one as well, and for the price of the 10" enclosed version, you may as well just cough up the extra $40 and do a true Pioneer or Kicker system rather than this. I am fully aware that boss is incredibly budget stuff and on the low end of the performance/quality spectrum, but it's at least a known brand name. I had really hoped that this would give it some edge over the off-brand chinese garbage that's sold by a brand that is just a string of random English letters smashed together, and will no longer exist within 3 months. All in all, the stock 6x9's in the 1997 Honda Civic i drove in high school could absolutely blow this unit out of the water as far as bass and overall audio quality is concerned.

Sounds great 201 13 Nissan frontier 4 door. Fills the space nicely. I've had big systems with 10' and 12' subs. This doesn't quite measure up to that but it satisfies the craving for extra bass
