I am by no means a coffee snob, and I've never owned a frother of any kind before. I don't even know how to use an espresso machine. But after giving up on the drip coffee at work, and brewing my own fresh coarse ground coffee in a bodum french press, I figured I might as well go the extra step and froth up some milk to go with it. (I don't know how they do it, but that coffee at work tastes awful, and if it sits for any length of time, it's just not worth drinking). I first tried this frother with powdered skim milk, and it worked great. A little leaky, but I'm sure that was my fault as a first time user. Great size - very easy to hold onto and use. It produced a really nice airy froth. I'll be taking it to work tomorrow to make everyone jealous. There's already an audience every morning as I grind and brew...this ought to push them right over the edge. At least now, I enjoy my cup at the office.

I just bought my third Bodum frother, I have a love/love/hate relationship with this thing right now. My first one I had for fifteen years, after it just kinda showed up in the kitchen. I have no idea where it came from or what it even did, but it was so beautifully made, I was loath to give it away. Once I discovered chai latte and realized what it was for, I was gobsmacked. I LOVED that thing and used it constantly til the glass broke. So on May 14, I ordered another. You will note, that was less than two months ago..... The replacement was very noticeably not as well made as the old one. It didn't have the lovely cork bottom that protected it on a counter. The plastic lid was VERY cheaply made compared to the older metal one, and fit loosely in the glass. However, it ultimately delivered the same lovely, thick froth, so all was well in chai latte land until today, when I broke the replacement glass as well. After researching others, which all seem to have the same problem, I decided that $21 bucks including tax and shipping is about what four lattes would cost me up on the corner, and I reckon I am still coming out ahead, albeit with a grumpy frown on my face. Be CAREFUL with the glass. Do NOT use a metal spoon in it. And whatever you do, don't "drop" a spoon in, greedily hoping to scrape out the remnants of that lovely froth after you've sipped your mug down a bit. I believe my vintage, quality (heavy!) spoons are what's cracking and weakening the glass. Put a dishcloth underneath when you pump, so the delicate glass isn't banging and grinding around on your hard countertop. (Fortunately, my old cork base still fits. I sincerely wish they'd keep the cork bases on the new units.). Handle the glass like it's the finest European hand blown Christmas ornament. As far as cleaning, I just run top and bottom under hot water and let them air dry. I have put the glass in the dishwasher with no problems whatsoever. Should you forget to rinse, simply add water and a drop of dish soap and pump away. Net decision, it works like a wonder, cleans easily, but plan to budget to replace this baby every few months.

I spent a lot of time researching & reading reviews of various types of milk frothers. I knew I didn't want an electric appliance because I don't have a lot of counter space in my kitchen, & it's not like I want to make a career out of making cappuccinos, much as I love them. So I was looking for low-tech. Before buying anything, I tried my hand-held Braun narrow mixer, but although the shape was good, it didn't make very good froth. Based on the great reviews, I bought a Vktech stainless steel double-mesh milk frother that worked really well - the thick crema was great. But then the mesh started smelling really nasty after just a couple of weeks, even though I always washed it in soapy water immediately after use, & even after it soaked overnight. I read that vinegar in the wash water would take out the smell, but it suddenly started to seem like keeping it clean was going to be another career, & I became suspicious of the metal. I had been hesitant about getting a frother with a glass carafe after reading so many reviews about it breaking so easily, but I decided to try the Bodum as I have had other Bodum products in the past that were excellent (a french press & a teapot). Well - so far, so good! I like the size of the carafe for the amount of milk I use for cappuccino. I like the shape of it which others have commented on as being small, but for me it's more comfortable than that wide metal one. I like the way it looks - it's elegant instead of utilitarian. I like the glass because I can see what's going on. I like the quietness of it compared to the metal on metal noise of the other one which set my teeth on edge. And it makes lovely froth & thick crema. If it starts to smell nasty or if I find any issues with it, I'll update my review, but right now I'm loving this one.

It makes milk frothy and it's easy to clean. To make things even better, there's no electric or battery-operated bits, so I can still have a quality latte if the power goes out or when the apocalypse takes out our access to supplies.

I purchased this glorious little device after seeing Bobby Flay use it to make a tea latte on his show, Brunch with Bobby. Specifically, it was the show, Luck of the Irish. I bought the smaller version than the one he used because it fit my needs better. It is wonderful! I made the most delicious tea latte to celebrate St. Paddy's Day with my afternoon tea. I had tried heating the milk and whisking it, which was okay, but this little gem takes less time and produces a far superior product. The milk came out light and frothy - just what you'd expect to get at the local tea shop - but now I can have this delight at home, any time I am so inclined.

It was GREAT, until it broke three days after I received it. When I opened it I noticed that the glass was very fragile and wondered if it would be a problem. I was washing it after owning it for 3 days and accidentally tapped the glass against thr sink (lightly) and the glass just shattered. Very disappointed.
