    • Replaced an older Dustbuster
I grew up with them and as an adult, I have always had a Dustbuster in my homes. I have four small dogs, hardwood and tile floors. The previous Dustbuster started to die, would lose power after using for a few minutes. I had it for 5 years. This replacement was also my Christmas present, so I got the super powered wet/dry version. Can't say I'm as overly impressed as I thought I would be. Yes, it has better suction. I like the wet pickup option. No, I don't like that dog hair quickly clogs the machine. I usually have to stop and empty a few times when I am cleaning around the baseboards. The way the unit's dirt up is made, you have several steps to empty as opposed to the older version. It was easier. Also, do not like how it hangs on the wall. I put the new DB where my last one went in the kitchen. You have to contort how you plug the cord into the DB and as a result, the cord is always falling out of the hanger that is screwed into the wall. I guess they want people to charge it standing up on a base more that the "old fashioned way". I guess I just feel companies like Black and Decker are trying to improve on their tried and true products, but are taking away simple features that made people love to use them to begin with. I like the simplicity of the Dustbuster. It helps me clean around baseboards and use it after I sweep instead of a dust pan. It's my go to cleaning machine. ... show more

After the abyssmal experience we had with the Dirt Devil competition - https://www.amazon.com/review/R1OMA3Z02ZNN7E/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm - we decided to go ahead and pay the premium for this model of Black+Decker. This time, I did my research. If I need to claim on the warranty, I can do so by hand delivering it to a servicing location - of which there is one here in Austin, Texas. Brand new, this vacuum works well enough, but then so did the Dirt Devil, so we'll see how the battery holds up. We use a handheld vacuum for cleaning up after ourselves after we clean up after our pets, so it needs to be able to handle cat litter and hamster leavings, including popcorn kernels. This one does the job pretty well, though not as well as the much cheaper Dirt Devil did, when new, for the reasons detailed below. That said, the Dirt Devil is in the garbage less than a year after it was purchased, as they wanted me to pay to ship them the $18 vacuum when it died in order to claim on the so-called warranty. The tiny mouth and small capacity hold this thing back. All of the manufacturer's pictures do a really good job of hiding that, so I have included pictures with a United States quarter for reference. For the price-point, the capacity and mouth size is somewhat ridiculous, but there seems to be a strange lack of competition, so I guess this is about as good as it gets right now. I could live with the capacity if they sold a cheap wide-mouth addon or something. If such a thing exists, it doesn't seem to be attached to their web page for the device, or anywhere on Amazon. On the plus side, at least the exhaust vent doesn't exhsust onto your hand like some models I read about, and the vacuum itself is pretty light, although I'm not sure if I wouldn't take a heavier machine if it meant I could get done with the job more quickly because it had a reasonable intake and capacity. ... show more

    • Disappointed in Amazon
So far, I love the vacuum. This was the first time, and quite possibly the last, that I've ordered an Amazon renewed product. I bought the vacuum with a listed condition of "like new" which stated it would come in original packaging but the packaging would be damaged. For what ever reason I was expecting "like new" would also equate to CLEAN however this was not the case. Not only was there dirt, fur, and hair in the brush attachment but the dust bowl was also dirty and still had hair and random particles the previous owner had vacuumed inside. Not only did I find having to clean the vacuum gross but it also seems to me that it would be unsafe in the times of covid as well. I would have rated the vacuum much higher had I not needed to clean and sanitize the vacuum and filter before use. If you are going to order Amazon renewed products, keep in mind that apparently cleanliness is not one of the standards they include in their condition rating process. ... show more
