If I could give it 6 stars I would. I haven't got the battery for the remote (funny flat round one) but otherwise this is one terrific little heater. Worth every penny. It heats up very quickly, is pretty quiet, cool feature that you can use it horizontally or vertically, and the controls give you lots of options for running it. I love the LED indicators on the top of it that let you know the status while it's running - helpful for figuring out what's best in the space you use it. I need a little extra heat in an office that is not covered well by the heating system in my 100 year old house. This does the trick and doesn't take up very much space doing it. Stopped working after one year. Not worth the price

I bought this large heater in November 2024. It is now January 2, 2026. It overheats and shuts off after 3 minutes, no matter what I do. I have tried turning the heat down (no noticeable difference; still puts out high heat level), I moved it far away from all possible obstructions on all sides, no difference. I keep the filter clean, no difference. The 'fan only' option still works, but I don't need another fan, I need a heater. Black and Decker, do better. This wasn't worth the price I paid to stop working after one year. I should have stuck with the honeywell heater which also stops working, but after two years rather than the one year this product lasted, and costs half the price. Such a waste of money during a time when every single penny counts is inexcusable. I'll not buy another Black and Decker heater again. ... show more

Overall, a pretty solid little heater that puts out a lot of heat for a medium sized room

I feel that with my 250 sq. foot room, it heats it up pretty solid and pretty quick. In fact, I rarely use the full heat setting, and instead use the low (low or high options are all there is). I feel pretty warm with the heater pointed towards me and a few feet away. It heats up pretty quick, even on that low setting. The higher heat setting feels a bit too hot for my needs, but it is good to have to heat up the room even quicker, or if it was even lower temps in the winter, that is powerful heat. One CON so far: I don't like how when you turn on the heater, it defaults to just the blowing fan, so there is no heat if you don't select that option to turn on the low heat first, or press again for the higher heat. It bugs me, because you have to remember to hit that heater button after turning it on. I think of it being a scenario where someone in the house uses the heater to start heating up a room, but only turn it on, forgetting about the requirement to select the heater...and if they think they set it to start heating up the room and then walk out, they will return to a colder room than before because only a fan is blowing. SMH. I don't know why there is only up to 24 minutes for a timer...once you get to 24, if you keep pressing the up/increase button, it starts over to 0, so only up to 24 minutes. It's not that big of a deal though, because I would say that it can heat up a small room in that timeframe pretty easily, from let's say 60 F up to 70 F in that time frame on just the low heat option. Another CON is how the remote doesn't come with the dang battery, so I had to buy a CR2025 battery, despite also having other coin-style batteries for other devices. I wish it could just be a slightly thicker controller and use one or two AAA batteries or something, but oh well, it's a pretty small remote. Hopefully doesn't get lost either because of the remote's size. Otherwise, I like how small but how hot it gets, even for its size. The rotation function is nice if you feel a bit too hot with it blowing in your direction, directly. So, it will oscillate a bit, like some fans do. I don't recall the rotation degrees, but it's fine. Do I recommend this heater? Yes, for the pricepoint, I do, but I did get it for around $30.00. I wouldn't be able to say for sure at a price much above that...I do trust the overall quality of Black & Decker though, so I expect it will last for some years to come, where that price point makes it seem a bit more solid of a recommendation too. ... show more

Compact, powerful, gentle fan

This is exactly what I needed for use under my desk in the colder months here in California. It is silly to run the heat for the whole house when it is chilly out in the winter. And yes, it gets cool-ish in Socal - cold days are in the low 50's or even the high 40's during the day, and you can knock 10-20 degrees off those figures at night. That's not freezing, but it is cool enough to warrant turning on the heat. This little wonder is exactly the right thing for this. I can use it on under my desk to keep my feet warm, and raise the temp in this corner where my desk is (in front of a large, drafty sliding door) to make it comfy to work in bare feet (my preference) year-round. A remote was a requirement, and for the price this flimsy, cheap remote is fine. Note that you will need a CR2505 battery for the remote, which is not included. Note that when you go to install your battery, you need to use a tiny screwdriver to remove a screw first before you can pop out the battery tray. I picked this up on sale for the ridiculous price of about $17. Hard to beat that. Definitely getting more than my money's worth here. Recommended. ... show more

Don't waste your money

Make sure you buy a a CR 2025 battery along with this purchase because cheap Black & Decker can't be bothered to include a battery in the remote. Oh and get a eye glasses repair kit to unscrew the very, VERY tiny screw locking the unnecessarily complex battery "door" in place. I bought this because A) it had a remote and B) I thought the Black & Decker name meant quality. Boy, was I wrong. The remote is the biggest joke. I spent 10 minutes prying, pushing and bending the plastic (didn't think the microscopic screw was keeping it shut but I found out it's literally screwed into the door. Why? No clue. It has a locking mechanism that you ALSO need to push to the side to open it so this redundancy was not only pointless but *actually* stupid) to open the tiny slide-in battery holder only to find out there's no battery in it. There's a plastic protector that you have to pull out. You know, the kind that's designed to keep the battery disconnected while in storage? You pull the little plastic slip and then the remote starts working. Imagine my surprise when I finally got it open to discover no battery. Jokes on me! Buy American, right? Black & Decker are too cheap to include a battery, even though you're paying almost 20 bucks more than some Chinese brand that actually *does* include a battery. How many execs does it take to design a space heater? Not sure but you know who's pocket that extra 20 bucks went into. The heater itself is pretty loud and that doesn't change if you have it on low or high setting (not sure if that's good or bad). It sounds like a hairdryer. Maybe slightly less noisy than a hairdryer but that's the closest thing I can compare it to. A hairdryer just droning on and on. Ultimately, yes, it does what it's supposed to do and warm a room. But space heaters are so common, so ubiquitous around the world, it's really a matter of paying for the *other* things. Low noise, easy of use, a remote... all things Black & Decker charge MORE for but also screw up. Do yourself a favor and just buy one of the hundreds of Chinese brands with weirdly incorrect English names like "WowHomeBest" or gibberish like "JUARHUROIUNWAHUILMNOP" for 20 bucks. ... show more

Nicer than I expected

Needed a bigger heater for our popup camper in early spring camps, the last one wasn’t enough and we went through almost a whole propane tank with the gas furnace in a few days. This kept the camper actually hot! Had to turn it down a few times. It’s loud to adjust though, loud beeps. Not ideal for mid night adjustments with sleeping kids, maybe the sound can be turned off. The oscillation could be wider for my purpose, but it works. I like that the top screen numbers and lights go dark after awhile. Helps with said kids sleeping. The temp adjustments only go in 5° Multiples, but it’s fine. Overall happy purchase . ... show more
